We visited this hotel 5-12 March. Welcomed in reception with a drink and efficient reception staff, within a few minutes we were on our way to our room. The room was well appointed with a good balcony, fridge and television (which actually had 50 viewable chanels) Free safety deposit box and overall very comfortable.
The main restaurant was spacious, had themed food days including BBQ'd, mediteranean style food. The food which should have been hot was, there was a great selection of salads and deserts to die for.
There was a dine around A la Carte option which included Lebanese, Italian, Indian and Chinese. Reservations for these restaurants were made on the morning you wished to dine. This feature was part of the all inclusive package and well worth the experience. In general the staff were totally focussed in each of the restaurants to ensure a professional, enthusiastic standard of service was maintained. Well done!
The beach restaurant catered for all those idle bums who wished to stay local to their sun bed.
Food was BBQ fast food type including pizzas, salads, chips, etc...
We stayed by the quiet pool to avoid being annoyed by the hawkers on the beach and the main pool who were trying to sell you, massage, pedicure, boat trips etc... The pools were very clean and well catered for with parasols, plenty of sunbeds and swim up bars.
The animation team worked tirelessley to involve all the multi-nationals in activities throughout the day. However, of an evening they proved to be somewhat self-indulgent and often not entertaining. Visiting artists were very good and dancing/drinks continued to 11 pm.
We did take a trip to Hurghada town, which was instantly forgettable, due to having to run the gauntlet from vendors. The town reflects the sad economic state that Egypt has been experiencing. Partly finished building sites, empty properties and poor maintainance of roads and pavements. Would suggest you give it a miss.
It was our 10th trip to Egypt in as many years and overall we found this hotel complex to figure in the top 3 in our experience. Would recommend and would return. Weather was very good as always varying between 28 and 35 degrees C.
