“Very good Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Excellent value, clean and well appointed. The whole resort is German I believe and is populated by similar Hotels. food is a little bland, and very little to do in this area if you dont enjoy the beach.
Blue skies every day and pleasant beach offering limited watersports. All hotels have been built by the same company and lack character, All that said it is a great place for relaxation where social activities are not a prerequisite. dont expect a riotous time but safe and easy going at a very affordable price.

Room Tip: get a suite overlooking the sea.

Myself and my husband chose the Jaz Makadi golf hotel for our first trip to Egypt.
We stayed for one week.
When we arrived we were greeted with excellent and efficient service and this did not change for our entire stay.
All staff including management at Jaz Makaidi were absolutely incredible, nothing was ever too much trouble. Everyone always had a friendly smile and always wanted to make sure we were happy and enjoying our stay.
We got to know most staff on first name basis as it was a lovely size hotel, very chilled and peaceful.
Food was amazing always plenty of choice for any taste, plenty of choice for drinks too.
The hotel was immaculately clean and tidy.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a very tranquil break away, we couldn't of wished for anything better and this hotel definitely exceeded any expectations!!

We have never actually stayed at this hotel, but we have been shown the rooms by another guest who was there, and have to say they are nothing short of stunning !!. Our experience has been with the Golf and the restaurant.
It is beautifully set out , with stunning views across Makadi Bay or the Golf course from the rooms, which are large, cool, beautifully set out and tranquil to say the least. The Golf Course is great, even though my handicap is usually turning up for a game !!, but even though not the most expert of players, we have been made welcome, and treated wonderfully by the staff. There are two courses, one is a 9 hole Executive course, and the much larger and far more challenging 18 hole, which is wonderful, if not hard work. There is also a lovely driving range and professional tuition available too
After a game you can have a drink on the beautiful bar terrace, and either watch the other players coming into the 9th hole, or setting off on the 1st, or just soak up the stunning views of the rest of Makadi Bay.
Alternatively, or as well as you can go down to the pool side restaurant and relax and have an excellent lunch and relax beside the infinity pool.
This is a smaller hotel , only having 96 rooms, and I must admit when we have tried to find availability to stay there they ahve always been full, which speaks volumes in itself. It is wonderful, and we WILL manage to stay there one day !!
Bliss absolute Bliss

Lovely quiet boutique hotel – had a great relaxing holiday here and would recommend
We had a room next to the pool which is smaller than some in the main hotel but I loved the location
Free laundry for all-inclusive guests
Kettle and tea / coffee making facilities in room

Food – no complaints we enjoyed all the meals breakfast and dinner (buffet style) served in main restaurant in hotel
Lunch Served At Pool Restaurant – (Non Buffet) Selected From the menu

Negatives – no free wifi and chargeable wifi only available in lobby not in your room
Limited waiter service around pool
Some companies book this as an adult’s only hotel but the hotel does take booking for children over 12yrs old
Mini bar in room free soft drinks but chargeable beer and fruit juices even for all-inclusive guests even though you can the same cans for free from the bar!!
Golf - average, par 3 course nowhere near worth the 30 euro cost, only clubs required for the course are a pitching wedge 9 iron and putter!! Championship course enjoyable but not expensive for what it is. Bunkers lacked sand and greens average, fairways rock hard also debris and litter strewn the course. The low handicapped golfers we met we met were very disappointed with the course and had complained about the standard of the golf.

Room Tip: rooms in the main hotel bigger than bungalows by pool - but I loved being nearer the pool!

I don't know where to begin! There are so many good things I want to say about this hotel so sorry if I waffle!

From the moment we arrived I knew it was going to be fantastic as we were greeted with cold drinks and cold flannels and very friendly staff.

Rooms are lovely. Clean and modern. Balconies have 'proper' furniture rather than plastic tables and chairs. Bath and separate shower. Wardrobe area and plenty of space to put suitcases/hang clothes up. We asked if we could have/borrow an ironing board to be told that all laundry and ironing is free! We put 3 loads of washing in during our stay and it came back clean and beautifully pressed and folded on the same day if you get it in before 9am. Had I known I would have taken half the amount of clothes! Bed linens and towels very clean and minibar is restocked daily. Soft drinks, water and tea and coffee are free, but alcohol, red bull, juice and nuts/snacks from the room are payable (even even you are all inclusive). If you want an alcoholic drink just get it from the bar and take it back to your room if desired! Also slept very well the whole time we were there. Beds are huge and pillows are so soft!

Pool area is very nice. Most sun beds have cabanas with shade which is really needed in the extreme heat! There is an outdoor restaurant/bar which is open from midday where you can get drinks and they have a great lunchtime menu - pizza, pasta, burgers, salads, grilled chicken and many other delicious dishes. The staff remember your drink orders after a couple of days and they never let your glass become empty.

Main restaurant - again very nice. Food changes daily with a different main dish every day - i.e. turkey, chicken, fish, meatloaf etc. There is a chef there every day who at his station will cook you various things from scratch, pasta, pancakes etc. There is soup, lots of breads, salad items and desserts. All very well cooked and very tasty. (Don't really understand the people who complain about this - I don't think it could have been much better).
Breakfast is in the same restaurant - porridge, cereals, juices, crepes, fruit, toast, parties, beans and potato items available. It does say long trousers for the men in the evening at the restaurant but most didn't bother and it didn't seem to be enforced.

The bar - very nice and modern. A singer is there on Tuesday and Thursday and also a chap playing the piano occasionally. Drinks service is great and a nice place to sit and chill. We sat there in the afternoon a few times and it was just the two of us! The little 'relaxing' pool is by the bar and we sat up there on a few occasions on a sun bed or at a table during the day and dipped in the pool and again it was just us. The barman brought us drinks and peanuts/crisps and was very attentive. We felt like we were the only guests and as if we had our own personal barman!

We went in to town a couple of times on the golf buggy/shuttle but we found it not really to be worth it. Some restaurants and shops - beach is very crowded. On one occasion we decided to walk in (about a 20 min walk) and the hotel manager happened to be driving along the road and pulled in to give us a lift! It's these little things that make the hotel so special. The staff really WANT to help rather than being obliged to because it's their job.

For the girls who may be concerned re hair straighteners/electrical voltage I can confirm the GHD's do work over there - just take a little bit longer to warm up. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and soap is supplied along with a little sewing kit, cotton wool and ear buds. There is an evening turndown service where more water and some chocolates are brought to you.

When we booked with Thomson we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and the hotel staff approached my husband (unbeknown to me) to ask if there was anything they could do to make it special. My husband ordered some flowers and a member of staff drove into town to get them and put them in the room as a surprise! Our room was also decorated (see pics) and a lovely cake given to us free of charge. The bouquet cost 30 euros and I counted at least 40 roses in it!

We went for two weeks and had a truly relaxing time. If you want evening entertainment/a loud social scene this is not the place for you. It really is quiet but it's exactly what we were looking for and we are looking at going back in October.

The staff really do make this hotel what it is - they are always checking to make sure you are happy with everything.

The only very minor thing that could be looked at is that the robes supplied in the room are really small! We couldn't wear ours as they were so tight. I am a size 14 just to give you an idea!

Also note, if you need to pay for anything the hotel don't accept card, cash only. We went into town to withdraw some cash and you do get charged £1.50 per withdrawal even though it doesn't tell you that at the time. We took money only for tipping and we thought we had enough, but we got hit with paying for two visa's when we arrived (approx £14 each) despite being told twice by the staff at Thompson that one wouldn't be needed so be prepared for that.

On the day we left we were intending to take our own cases down as unfortunately we had run out of money for tipping (felt awful) but a lovely chap came to our room just before we were about to leave and insisted on taking them for us. Emad the manager also insisted we stay in our room as long as we needed as check out is noon but he told us not to worry about that.

All in all, a gem of a hotel, a really fantastic find and we really hope to go back. By the end the staff felt like family and we were sad to leave.

Special and heartfelt thanks to Emad (manager/director), Ahmed, Tamed, Alaa and the lifeguard and our housekeeper(whose names I was unable to catch) who worked so hard during our stay to make everything so wonderful for us. (And also to all the staff behind the scenes who we never met) All the staff work extremely hard and are so nice so if you are going to stay here please tip generously as they really deserve it. Some of the staff were there every day during our stay and had no time off whatsoever. They work long days too, some of the staff were there at breakfast (8am) and they were still working after 10pm setting up the restaurant for the following morning.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the hotel. Being July it was extremely hot but not at all humid so it wasn't uncomfortable. Check in was quick and easy and we were taken straight to our room. Our room was on the 5th floor which is the same floor as reception and main restaurant.you can then take the stairs or lift down to the pool area. The room was clean, wonderfully large with a sitting area and large bathroom. We overlooked the golf course and had a decent sized balcony with table and 2 chairs. The hotel is kept very clean and the staff throughout the complex are wonderful. I have never been anywhere that compares with this for the genuine friendly and helpful manner of the staff, and I mean all staff from gardeners to management. Special mention to Alaa at the pool bar (and everywhere else he works!) that man works like a demon and always has a ready smile. We spent our days by the pool where the sun beds are under canopies. You can then move your bed out from under the canopy if you want to. It was extremely windy for nearly the whole 2 weeks and many of the canopies were getting torn. Staff did their best to replace them but clearly didn't have enough repaired ones to use which left a number of beds without shade. Not good in 40+. We never had a problem getting a sun bed however the hotel was pretty quiet, not sure there would be enough if they were full. There is a small quiet pool on the same floor as reception. We didnt use it but others did. The pool bar serves drinks all day and lunch there was excellent. Decent choice on the menu including pasta, pizza, burger, chicken etc. They also serve ice cream and milk shakes, both excellent. We didn't go to the beach but others did and said it was busy but ok. There is regular free transport from the hotel to the beach and back. Breakfast was fairly standard for a buffet breakfast and more than acceptable. Dinner in the main restaurant was ok, not great but ok. There was always something you could have, always salad, cold cuts, cheese, bread etc. There is some evening entertainment which was ok. This is not the hotel to go to if you want lively evenings, you could go into Makadi Bay during the evening, its pretty close by. Any problems are resolved very quickly by staff and they are always willing to assist in any way they can. My husband is a golfer but didn't play. He said the course wasn't in very good condition and the greens terrible. For what they wanted for 18 holes it really wasn't worth it. We found 2 weeks slightly too long as there is very little to do on site and the high wind was a constant battle. We could have gone off site but chose not too. We did have a lovely 2 weeks and met some great people but I can only give a rating of 4. This is purely down to the quality of the food in the main restaurant, it really isn't 5 star food. The staff make this hotel, they really are wonderful and a credit to the management.

Room Tip: High floors have the best view. Reception and main restaurant are on the 5th floor, pool on the gro...

Stayed here for one week following a nile cruise and really appreciated the peace and relaxation after such a hectic time on the boat. Every member of staff is so friendly and helpful, its impossible not to feel pampered during your stay. Lovely varied food and so much of it. All inclusive drinks were completely fine, even the Egyptian wine, which I had heard wasn't very good. All the hotel grounds, pool and inside and out were so well looked after. We got an amazing deal on our holiday but if we had paid full price it would still have been worth it. The hotel is up a hill about a half hour walk from the beach, which we visited every day. The beach was busy but not overcrowded. Was amazing to swim so close to the coral and beautiful fish. Nothing like the hassle in shops that you get in Luxor or Aswan. Had a fun day out at Water World. There is a free shuttle bus but when we enquired at reception, the hotel manager offered to take us in his own car! Such brilliant service.
