Just returned from a fabulous chill out week with my husband. We booked last minute and were extremely pleasantly surprised by what we experienced. We had a poolside room which we were informed by a veteran couple that these were actually the most basic. If that was basic I'd like to see the luxury they enjoyed! Great size, loads of storage, beautifully clean and fresh bathroom with walk in shower and shower head like dinner plate. Massive and comfortable bed. French doors on to the pool side with gorgeous view over bay.
Like everywhere in the hotel the pool area was perfectly clean and manicured, loungers all brand new and plenty of them. The pool was heated to the perfect temp to still be refreshing without shocking! No kids either so a relaxed atmosphere.
Food at the day poolside bar and main restaurant was great, good variety and sophisticated for an all inclusive environment.
The bar staff were really attentive, there isn't much to do in the evening but light entertainment in the bar. For the kind of chill out we wanted it didn't matter though, we were in bed by 11 most nights. If you want a total relax in the winter sun in peaceful luxury then this is for you! Thanks all at Jaz Makadi Golf!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a week in January. We have stayed in a lot of hotels in Egypt. This was by far the best we have stayed in. The room was spotless and was decorated to a five star standard . The staff were always very efficient and went out of the way to help you. There was a good variation on food ,and was always something nice to eat every night. I am a bit of a foody and was well happy. Thre two big bonuses with this hotel no kids and no big Wodka drinkers if you know what I mean. The general manager is always at hand to ask if everything is ok. Which it is if not he would sort it. Mahmoud on reception is a very helpfully and well educated lad ,always keen to help. Thanks to the hotel manager and staff.

Room Tip: All rooms are great what ever floor you are on as serviced by a lift

This hotel gives you all the choices, the staff were friendly ,there was a very good choice of food layed on day and night and although there were only 2 restaurants they were was more than enough to choose from. The rooms were clean and a fair size we were situated at the pool, this is a perfect location to relax and enjoy lunch. The hotel sits on the hill on the golf course ,there are free regular shuttles if you want to go to the beach and a supplement in place if you want to eat in some of the other hotels, there is an exellent spa at the foot of the hill in the builiding attached to the Amaya indian restaurant.
With great practice facilitys and a profesional on hand for lessons, the golf course is a perfect challenge for any level of golfer!
We look forward to going back next year to top up the tan and get my golf game ready for the season.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in January 2013. In summary, when you arrive this hotel does have something of a 'wow factor' and it was excellent value for money. We'd recommend a stay here if you like a quiet hotel, quiet location and just want to relax. We may return.

Below are some of the things we found - couldn't quite call the 2nd list 'negative' points, just things that could do with a bit of attention to make things that bit better for guests expecting the total 5 star experience.

Plus points
• Very quiet location + the no children rule helps!
• Excellent fast and friendly service from all staff
• Food is served hot on the buffet, unlike many others
• Bedrooms and bathrooms in the main hotel are big and well furnished
• Very comfortable furnishings in all rooms (even the restaurant chairs!)
• Lovely large heated infinity pool at same depth all over
• Good sauna, steam room + jacuzzi
• Easily the nicest hotel in Makadi Bay
• Visible and charming manager - very attentive to guests and makes a real effort, eg., by having a welcome party a few days into your holiday
• Transport around the bay is good - free hourly shuttle to the beach (which is easily walkable in 20 mins, but nice to have). Golf buggies also usually available + staff will drive you eg., to the nearby bank/shops.

Slightly less than plus points

• Food is limited in choice + location; buffet only in main restaurant at night and the same lunches only by pool each day
• Some of the cooked vegetables seemed to be 'gritty'- very offputting!
• All inclusive drinks choice is a bit limited + cocktails are uninspiring
• Smoking is allowed in the only bar which drove many people out to the foyer to drink
• Pool area floor is not cleaned often enough - consequently lounger mattresses are grubby
• There are too few lounger mattresses for the number of loungers
• Spa is way too expensive so was little used by anyone, which meant staff needed to tout for business around the pool. Would be more inviting at slightly lower prices maybe?
• Our cases took more than 2 hours just to get to our corridor (not the room, we grabbed them ourselves in the end)
• Flies are a real pest in pool area (not much anyone can do about this, we know!)
• We got the only rain there had been for a year for one day (and there was plenty of it!) and at least four days of full cloud in 2 weeks. It is also a slightly windy location, but this would probably be welcome at hotter times of the year
• We were both ill with stomach problems for a few days - and it seemed that some of our fellow guests had the same bugs so we're pretty sure they were food related.

We booked only 4 days before departure and had not researched to the depth I would normally undertake. The hotel purports to be a 5 star but I would say that 4 star, at best, would be more appropriate.
This hotel is aimed primarily at golfers and I regretted not taking my clubs. That said the hotel is perfectly suited to non-golfers.It is small, less than 100 rooms and this restricts its ability to excel within the price charged on an all inclusive basis.,
The service level from the staff is excellent, always helpful always friendly, despite the fact that they work seven days a week for month after month.
Our room was excellent, overlooking the 18th green. The beds were very comfortable, but the squashy light pillows were not to my liking. The level of cleanliness was excellent as was the servicing of our room, including a number of 'towel sculptures' left on the bed.
Probably the biggest let down is the location in that the main resort is decidedly unattractive with the beach being too small for the number of holiday makers. Each hotel has an allocated area which is cramped and overcrowded. It is, however kept reasonably clean and tidy. The water is crystal clear and a walk out on the jetty will allow you to see fish without the need to get wet !
The adjacent resort ,which caters for a lot of eastern europeans is decidedly down market.
The pool is a utilitarian, infinity style rectangle, kept pleasantly warm. In summer there would not be sufficient shade from the sun. The spa was uninspiring and expensive, which probably explains why it appeared to be little used. The steam roon, hot tub and sauna were free and well used as the shadows lengthened.
Food quality was good, but somewhat bland and boring and appeared to be on a 7 day rotation which meant that everything was repeated on our second week. For a 5 star hotel I would have hoped for better. The lunch menu at the pool restaurant was a la carte but not very inspiring.

Internet connection was £5 for a half hour to be used within 3 days. I would expect it to be free and unlimited in a 5 star hotel. I know plenty of lesser establishments where it is free!

Lastly,big plusses

No kids and No East Europeans

Aside from landing in Hurghada airport and a couple of other points in which i will cover it was generally a nice hotel in a very good standard 5 star. The food was excellent quality but the choice was sparse. Friendly staff from waiters, to bell boys, to cleaners were always of assistance. When we checked in our room we were immediately in awe. It was one of the most luxury rooms i have ever stayed in, we had a fantastic view through very big sliding doors. It was quiet and clean and made for a relaxing holiday.
The main reason we came to this hotel was due to the Golf facilities and while i was impressed with the quality of the course in general it was not a reflection of the very high price paid, almost £180 for 3 rounds which did not include club hire or a buggy. The golf course was empty and this was probably the reason why.
Another bad point would be the amount of flies around the pool area and pool bar area. It made for a very uncomfortable area. The staff also seem to have made no attempt to address this. Apart from that the pool area was nice and the water in the pool was at a nice temperature.

If you are after a quiet holiday with almost no entertainment and your primary objective is R&R then this hotel is for you.

Just returned from a superb week at Jaz Makadi Golf. We were looked after from the second we arrived until the moment we left, with a wave from the Hotel Manager. The service was impeccable and once the teams from each department understood your likes and dislikes, they would do everything to ensure they met your every wish.

The buffet selection for breakfast and dinner was excellent with something different every day, giving you no time to be bored with the food. Everything was continuously checked and refreshed as soon as a particular dish got low.

We also had lunch by the pool which was equally pleasant with a good menu and lovely desserts. Everything arrived quickly and efficiently, along with a smile.

There are no children at the hotel, so there are no animations teams or kids club. This worked well for me as the entertainment that was on offer was subtle and very pleasant.

We were scuba diving down in the bay so often got the shuttle bus there and back, stopping for refreshments at the beach bar on our way back. The team there also match up to the excellent reputation of Jaz Makadi Golf Hotel.

Now we know the standard and well deserved reputation of the hotel, we are planning to be back again as soon as time allows as the combination of Jaz Makadi Golf Hotel and iDive down in Makadi Bay is the perfect one for us.
