“Nice friendly hotel”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

This holiday was booked with onthe beach.com,so flights were with easyjet..so lets say no more than that. No in flight entertainment and running late as usual.

Airport
Hurghada is a jungle, you must at all costs get your visas at the bank which is on the left as you go in. There will be lots of people trying to get them for you and will have your name on a board when you go in,these are like ticket touts who will bump up the price of your visas,we paid 66 pounds for 6 of us.

Check in.
This was very quick and efficient, the staff are friendly and speak very good English. We filled in forms for the people staying in each room and pasports were taken as per usual and we could collect them half an hour later which was no problem. We were then taken to see our rooms which were next door to each other as requested. Luggage arrived a few minutes later as they drive it round (no elevators).

Rooms
The rooms are more than adequate and clean, bathroom with shower etc. No tea and coffee facilities (which could improve them further) but they do 24 hr drinks in lobby reception.Room was cleaned daily and towels were changed if you left them in the shower. We did tip our maid who will be a male and he did make us towel shapes etc.and left extra water in the fridge. He will also bring you clean pool towels when you ring reception..so you do not need to take any towels.

Staff
The staff are always friendly and willing to help especially Mohammed and Alladin in the reception bar(yes we did tip them , but this pays off as most of the guests are eastern european and push in and are very rude so if they saw you coming they would get your drinks for you and they do work hard). There was a couple of staff members who were rude and ignorant of women and they worked in the Tagine restaurant so we just ate and left but overall they were good.

Pools
All of them are clean. They have an activity pool where music and games are played etc.but there are more than enough pools to choose from and plenty of sunbeds,we never struggled to get any even though we were in the school holidays even at 9.30 am you could find beds.Slides are good and only open at regular intervals and there are no lifeguards about so be careful. Pool area floors get v hot and you need to wear pool shoes or flip flops everywhere you walk.

Food
This hotel is in between the Vista and the Albatross you can eat at any of their restaurants any time, but the al a carte resaurants had to be booked a day in advance at the Albatross reception and that was easy enough. There are 3 of these Italian,Tagine(local cuisine) and chinese. Food was ok at these restaurants but not top notch. I have had better in other countries, but it makes a nice change from the buffet restaurant. There is also pizza and chips available most of the day and afternoon tea in reception and lunch in the buffet restaurant and ice cream for about 8 hours...basically you cannot grow hungry. Some of our group did have bad stomachs some were worse than others but you do have to check meat is cooked thoroughly and no ice and try to avoid salads etc.as they wash this with tap water. Basic knowledge really.

Drinks
You can pretty much drink all day. Husband said the beer was good and not watered down as we have encountered before in other countries. Red wine was also v good . Cocktails are also available in your all inclusive and many spirits. My only complaint is ther is no diet coke anywhere and the other stuff is very sugary so I drank water or soda water which is all self service.

Trips
My husband ,2 sons and brother in law did the quad biking trip as two of us were ill that day. They said it was a good trip but would not do the whole day next time as it was very busy and the camels and horses did not look like they loved all the riding around. They did visit the bedouin village and had food etc.

Entertainment

This is ok but be warned it is geared towards our eastern europeans and not for the English, but it was ok.

Overall as a last minute booking and only for a week is was a good holiday and the sun is hot everyday which is what you want and we are firm believers in a holiday is what you make of it.Would I go back? Probably not but only because this is not geared up for the English and my children needed some company which is essential when on holiday. This is a nice hotel and the staff are great if you want to get away and bot talk to anybody else.

I just got back from Aqua Blu Hurghada, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

The +'s
The room was large and clean.
The hotel grounds are very well kept.
The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
The food was good quality, but I have to say sometime the choices we slightly limited.
The pools were clean and not overcrowded

The -'s
The Italian restaurant didnt serve Italian food, which was a bit strange!
The water slides seemed to suffer from a lack of water a lot of the time, so they didnt really work.

Overall I would recommend the hotel to families and couples as it is very good value for money and you wont be disappointed.

Stayed from 6/07/12 to 20/07/12.
This Hotel had everything to keep our 3 children happy for the 2 weeks while we were there. We had plenty of choices of food from all the restaurants on this complex, Aqua Blu is the middle of the three complexes on this side of the the road. To the right you have Aqua Vista and to the left you have Albatros Gardens. You can chose to use these facilities as well as the beach across the road at Albatros Beach resort.
Whilst we were there, we found that we where the only English speaking guests at the resort. Russians/Polish/Cech and Germans make up most of the guest list. The staff all where able to speak English so we didn't feel to left out.
We have been to Egypt for the past 7 years but this was the first time in Hurghada. It was nice but not as fully developed as Sharm.
Went on two excursions,
Desert Quads. 1.00 pm till 10.00pm Driving quads and buggies. Then into the desert to visit the Bedouin. Have done this before so knew what to expect. Then back to watch a show, food and water pipe. Finished evening off star gazing then back to Hotel.
Island Trip. 8.00 am till 7.00 pm. A fantastic day out. Snorkling and sun bathing. Great food served on deck. We got to see wild Dolphins. Even the owners of the boat love to see the dolphins and will try to get their boat into a position so you can get a better view. Try to do this trip on your second week so that you have a tan, not much cover on deck but the wind cools you down a bit so that you won't feel your're being burnt.
The Staff all over the complex are fantastic. The Animation team work real hard to keep everyone entertained and deserve praise.
As with any where in Egypt tipping the right person can reap benefits. The maid/waiter/barman.
Will book to go back to Egypt but will book for Sharm.
Enjoyed Hurgahda and enjoyed this Hotel.

My friend and I just got back from a week at the Pickalbatros Aqua Blu resort, which we booked last minute and were not sure what to expect.
Aqua Blu met our expectations and more, providing the R'n'R we much needed.
The hotel is very close to the airport (5 to 10 minutes transfer max), and as a result is a little out of the main resort. Taxis are plentiful and the hotel has it's own taxi service which costs a little more but is very reliable, drivers friendly and they will wait for you.
The hotel is part of a large complex - 3 hotels all on the non beach side of the road - with 6 pools, one with water slides, snack bars, pool side bars, sports courts (tennis and basketball) and restaurants. The hotel also offers a shuttle to the beach and Aqua Blu guests have access to the beach infront of the Albatros Palace on the other side of the road.
Aqua Blu's accommodation is based in blocks around the pool area, all have balconies or patios and most rooms have a pool view. Our room over looked the pool and the pool bar, and was very spacious, with 3 single beds, plenty of wardrobe space, a safe and fridge. The bathroom was good, equiped with shower.
As the resort is all inclusive, we were not sure what to expect from the main buffet. Breakfast was great - plenty of choice for warm and cold continental style breakfast. Lunch was varied and the salad bar was well stocked with choice of dressings. Evening meals were OK with a mix of Eastern European food (caserole style food was plentiful and tasty) and koftas/ kebobs cooked outside. There was always a healthy eating option and special children's section. The evening specials were good and varied. However, as the hotel is quite family orientated, guests eat early, so specials quickly run out and were not replenished. Main dishes are refreshed, so don't panic, you wont go hungry.
The high point of the week food wise - the Egyptian theme night. Delicious!
The low of the week food wise - the speciality restaurants in Aqua Garden. We found them disappointing and returned to the main buffet.
On to the staff - so helpful and friendly. Very willing to help and any issues we had were fixed in a reasonable time frame. The Animation team were great and keen to involve everyone.
Our only challenge was we were one of only 2 English groups in the hotel - this hotel is very popular with Russians.
All in all, a great introduction to Hurghada and Eqypt - great hotel, good food and excellent Staff. Thank you Aqua Blu hotel!

Went with my parents in 2009, when we arrived the hotel room we was given looked like the maids room. The booking firm told us it was the 'promo room'. When my dad complained to reception, they told us that was their promo rooms, but it doesn't mean promo like the booking firm told us. My dad us them he wasn't happy to stay there. The receptionist straight away gave us a new room, which was amazing. I was a room at the beginning of the hotel, next to the crazy golf and pool hut. Quiet location. We had to pay a little fee, but as this was not the hotels fault, but the booking firms fault for advertising it wrong. We did not mind. The staff were so friendly, expesically the entertainment guys. Every time they saw my it was 'Zara come this..........' they always took the time to sit with us and talk about different things. The food was brilliant. Always fresh and something new. The bar staff always remembered my families drink orders. The trips booked through the hotel were amazing! Never had service like it before! Really cannot wait to go back next year with m boyfriend. Oh and beach is only across the road, even though they use a shuttle bus, but that's more for safety. We left 2 pounds a day for the cleaning staff, we came back to towel animals and our fridge filled with fresh water everyday! It says travelled 2011 as it doesn't go back to 2009! Sorry guys.

Spent a most enjoyable week here, the staff were very agreeable and most couldn't be more helpful, you'll always get the occasional bad penny, although to be fair, we didn't. The complex, it's like 3 Hotels surrounding maybe 7 large pools , which are very clean, there's more than enough sun loungers, one of the pools has 4 fantastic slides, not really for the faint hearted, although if you sit up, you do go slower. The staff put as many shows as they can in an "ampitheatre", quite entertaining really. The Red Sea is only a short walk away, you cross the road, go through another hotel complex and your there, the Hotel has it's own bar down there where you can eat, buffet style as well. It's great if you want to scuba dive, as the Sea is there.......

I cant believe that finally I found a piece of marvelous land where everything exists . It Is the land of Pick Albatros hotels [Aqua blu - Albatros Garden - Aqua vista – Albatros Palace – etc....]

Last 30 years ; I had the chance to fly all over the world and also had the chance to be a guest in 5 and 6 stars hotels . With Aqua blu hotel I felt the magic of the professional hotelery service starting FROM the smiley/helpful reception staff/supervisors and manager – TO the sincere heartly welcome+courtesy manners from All restaurants chefs..... Everything was ideally different + frankly speaking ; I blamed myself not being before in these hotels .

Cleanliness :- Tidy/top Cleanliness in rooms //Neat kitchen cutleries, non smelly plates glasses and cups//Clean-Brilliant 12 swimming pools//Flowers everywhere and perfectly trimmed in wider green gardens.

Beauties :-
*The Egyptian Hospitality “Beauty” was in every location …. 3 discotheques + 9 various restaurants [Chinese / Western / Oriental / Italian] and every restaurant has top qualified chef and assistants
and they know -professionally- how to fulfill our stomach up to RIM.
*The Security staff are perfectly trained not to allow any strange guest to enter in Albatros Land [17 Hectares] ….Also every room got electronic safe box/Personally I didnt use it ; due to obvious honesty in these hotels.
*Animation team were doing extreme effort to satisfy kids .
*Clinic available and of 3 minutes walking from any side ….. Some Guests suffered from stomach pain which I believe it was due to intensive eating from a huge varieties of DELICIOUS food.

Room Tip: All are same ........ Very quiet touristic land.
