“We wish we could give it a better review...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2009

Prior to booking we checked the reviews and this hotel seemed to be ticking all of the boxes. When we arrived, everything looked good, including the check in service. However, things could have been explained a bit better, however this could have been because of the language barrier.

So... the good points
The hotel is close the airport, which after a long flight is a god send!! But not too close.
The overall appearance of the hotel is 5*, the same quality you would expect in Egypt, but the finish was not of 5* quality in England.
Our room was brilliant, it backed onto the pool and was amazing!!! The bathroom was massive and the room was cleaned brilliantly everyday. I would recommend that you take a kettle and tea bags, if you are partial to a cup of English tea, as the hotel only provides mint tea etc within the main hotel.
The pools and outside areas were amazing, and kept us entertained for hours.
The water park was brilliant, loads better than any we have ever visited in England.
The beach was lovely. Be warned though, the sand gets very very hot very quickly, so you will need to wear something on your feet. The water is very shallow, so it is best to walk up the pontoon if you fancy a swim, but I would wear shoes in the water as it is a bit sharp in places. We went snorkeling, it was not as good as Sharm el Sheik, however, it's good if you fancy a paddle and are willing to fight the 'foreigners' for the ladder down!! Also, they like to walk on the coral, which seems to have destroyed it in places.
The bar areas were well stocked with spirits, however they tended to run out of beer in the middle of the day. Just be warned that the spirits are very strong, but as long as you are prepared, they were ok.
We went into the town by taxi, which was an experience, and we would say that you should only go if you have your wits about you. It's not like popping down to Primark on a Saturday afternoon; you need to be prepared and vigilant and you will be fine!!

So... the bad points, which we tried really hard not to have, but the more we think about it, the more they really were quite bad.
The food, as other people say, was very samey. e don't want to see a courgette for a very long time, as that was all we seemed to eat. The food is based upon basic ingredients, such as meat, courgettes, rice and chips, which is ok for few days, but can get a bit boring. As a previous review said, it could be because you pile lots of different food on your plate during one sitting, therefore you become bored of food very quickly. The breakfast was the best meal of the day, as the choice was endless and always good quality. The bread is always good, whatever the meal.
We were very ill whilst at the hotel, and are still experiencing some problems fives days since returning home. We could not pin point what exactly caused the problem, as we did stop eating certain things that we thought may have caused it, but it didn't let up. We think it may have been caused by the juice and squash being made with tap water, but we cannot be sure. All we know is that we were ill and had a lot of stomach cramps.
Finally, the hotel seems to have a lot of German, Polish and Russian visitors, who in our experience were quite rude, especially their children, who seemed unable to queue. Also, the entertainment was aimed very much towards them, which led to the English visitors having to find their own entertainment in the evening, which after a while led to us watching random films in our room.
The shops in the hotel are over priced, and it is hard to get them to lower their prices. We got better prices by visiting the shops just outside the hotel entrance.
Also, be aware that the patio door lock might be a bit dodgy, as we could pull ours open when it was locked. But all of our valuables were in the safe, so we weren't too worried.

Overall, this hotel is great for families with children, but probably better suited to visitors from across the pond rather than from England. I think our standards maybe slightly higher than theirs. The entertainment during the day is endless, which is good if you need something to keep you amused. If you do visit Egypt, they love the pound more that the Egyptian pound and will give you better prices. At the start of the week, we would have recommended this hotel to a friend, however, as the week progressed, and more things went wrong, we decided that we wouldn't make anyone else go through what we had.

In addition to the hotel, went went on excursions to Luxor and also quad biking. The trip to Luxor was amazing, very tiring, very hot, but well worth it. We would recommend you take lots of water and maybe some food, as it wasn't the best. Our tour guide Mohamed was brilliant. Quad biking was at the 'African Safari' and was dreadful. It was poorly organised, the guides didn't speak English and it felt like we were being led into the middle of the desert to be shot. The quad bikes were of very poor quality and the heat from the engine burnt our legs. We returned back to the hotel after one hour due to my back killing and feeling very sick. It took a lot of arguing with the 'guides' for them to take us back to the garage for us to return home. We had to pay for a taxi back to the hotel, which after arguing, the 'guide' agreed to pay half of the cost. These trips were arranged by our tour company 'You Travel'.

The Flight

I booked this hotel with teletext holidays online. I decided to book after reading the reviews on this site. Our flight was very budget so a little uncomfortable, but not out of the ordinary. When we arrived we were greeted by many egyptian men from different tour companies shouting out different names. This was a little overwhelming as we were not even sure which one we were with. Luckily my partner saw recognised his name on a board, as it was spelt wrong. We were then shown a queue to join to buy our visa's, they cost £13 each. I was slightly thrown as i believed it was £10 each. Before going through passport control we changed our money, we did nt do it in england as i read it was better rates in egypt, which it was ( 9.10 - £1) England (8.32- £1) and they told us in england we would nt get any better then what they offered. So i advise you don t listen to them and change when you arrive. Outside we were asked a few times if we needed a taxi, no pressure but they were very keen, we had our tranfers booked so all was well.

The Hotel

When we dropped off others at there hotel we saw a sign for Titanic Beach aqua park which was on the opposite side to the beach, which meant crossing the road to go to the beach! I was shocked as it was not how it looked on the internet. Fortunately it was not our hotel which was a pleasant surprise!!! Our hotel had a beautiful marble lobby. The view onto the hotel grounds from here were amazing. Our luggage was looked after as soon as we got off the coach. We filled a form at reception and waited to be allocated a room. We got impatient waiting about 10 mins. When we finally got our key the man showing us to our room informed us our room was "very nice". We walked through the complex and he pointed out a few hotel facts. As we walked he pointed out the best rooms in the hotel and after much joking around informed us that one of them chalets was ours!!! the room was very nice, surrounded by water, with a private pool. What a lovely upgrade for free!!!!! The room was cleaned daily and its recommended that when u can you give small tips. The hotel has many pools and loads of places to lounge so you dont have to get up at the crack of dawn to save a lounger. The aqua park has about 8 slides and there was never a queue! The beach is 1 min away and very beautiful! The resort is clean and big and therefore comes across as very peaceful even though it is sooo big! There is bowling on the complex which was never packed so you can always have a go and the games room was very big, so no queues!

The Staff

Not much to say here! They treated us like VIP's.!!!! M y boyfriend was unwell for a few days and they all went that extra mile to help out in any way possible. The hotel general manger even came to our room introduced himself to us one evening which was lovely. The staff love it when you attempt to speak arabic and even gave us a few lessons. In contrast the room service was very bad! On the first night we were not sure how to work the air con and called the operator. The language barrier was very high, they did not speak good english. We were told 6 times someone was coming and no one ever did. Luckily we worked it out ourselves. There were a couple more occasion where the service to our room was slow or non existent!

The Food

From day one i did not enjoy my meal! We had a bbq and it was lamb and beef mixed kofte. It was Horrible! the meat had a smell of urine and tasted like liver. The best thing on my plate was chips. I gave them the benifit of the doubt as it was the end of dinner time and thought tomorrow will be different. It was just as bad every day. The repetition of food for all meals was boring and lacked taste. They were more about quantity than quality. The Russians and Germans, which were the majority of nations staying at the hotel, seemed to embrace and enjoy the food. The drinks were cheaply made. The fizzy was just full of soda water with a hint of colour and and the juice was powder mixed with water! Horrible!!! To get a real fruit juice you have to pay! I have nothing nice to say about the food or drink which is BAD as that is the main reason for booking All Inclusive. On our last couple of days we realised you can order in Mc Donalds, KFC and Pizza Hut. We both got food poisoning. We expected to maybe get diarrhea as it is common for this to happened, but the pain was beyond and vomiting was involved. The pharmacy was close and very helpful!

The Town

Was a 20 min journey via taxi, we used the taxi service the hotel provided and the prices were fair (90 egyptian pounds) = around £10. The cars were also more comfortable and the driver asks how long your going to be and comes back and if needs be waits around. It like having your own personal driver. You don t pay them untill you return back to the hotel. Very good service. In any shop you go in you can get up 50 % discount if you try hard enough. I was never under pressure to buy and found it easy to haggle. We even learnt the words for how much? and Discount! which got us very far with the haggling!

Trips

We booked two trips with the tour guide which were nicely priced. Quad biking and day out £25 and Snorkeling day out £20. The trios were lovely and we really enjoyed ourselves!

Overall

I want to recommend this hotel to all but if you are used to tastey food and well seasoned then this is not the hotel for you! Away from the food its one of the best hotels i have stayed in! Having previously stayed in Sharm el Sheik and enjoying my food as well as the hotel, hy holiday in sharm, Oreintal Resort, beats this holiday i had! Please go to this hotel if you are very keen cause you might enjoy the food. Different strikes for different folks!

First impressions of hotel were good. Hotel itself is really nice but as others have said standards are less than expected at home.
First night in hotel and the food was awful. Went to the lobby bar and at 2am were told there was no more beer. 1st of many arguments, if you are female do not bother to complain as they will only take notice of men. After being told on the quiet by the barstaff that they would do us a deal on cans we decided it was time to see the manager. 40 mins later and complaints from more of the men the beer was suddenly available again. Drinks are very weak and we were told by someone living out there that it is not uncommon for out of date beer to be bought cheap by the hotel.

2nd day of trip and my partner was ill, we decided not to eat in the restaurants again and again would only drink the canned beer available in 2 of the bars. 3rd day I also got ill. Complained to rep regarding the food and he advised that no other complaints were made so he couldn't do anything.. odd considering that everyone we spoke to had also said they were ill. Rep blamed the sun.... ummmm.. considering that my partner had to stay in our room for most of the day don't see how that was the case.

The rest of the holiday was spent in the bathroom or running back to the room to go to the bathroom. We didn't drink alcohol or eat in the restaurants and I wouldn't feed the food to my dog who would no doubt turn her nose up at it anyway.

By the 5th day we had to call the doctor out and again jabs and diareah tablets were given. Doctor told us he was being called out everyday and in my opinion he was probably the busiest person in the hotel. Again wouldn't confirm food or drink was the problem as he is employed directly by the hotel.

We didn't have any cash to pay the doctor bill on the last day and gave 3 alternative methods of payment. After 6 hours of being sent to the doctor and back to reception we gave up and got ready to leave. 10 mins before the coach arrived we were detained in the hotel and told to pay cash again! Staff wouldn't listen as we explained we had no cash but could give visa details. This is where Broadway travel our booking agent were called and we were told by the main manager of Broadway travel that we weren't his responsibility and we were on our own! He told the rep to wait 5 mins and then leave us behind. We were then told that the hotel would hold us until we missed the flight and then tell us we could leave with no way of getting home. We asked for tourist police to be called which they refused to do. Once the coach left we were ignored again and as you can imagine we were really worried we were going to be stranded. Luckily and big thanks for Lynda (Resort Managers secretary) who we managed to speak to (with no thanks to the Reception Manager who tried to tell us he was in charge!!) who sorted it all out in 5 mins, called us a cab to the airport and apologised for all the stress and worry they put us through.

All in all this hotel treats you like [--]. They have no idea of customer service and as the hotel has their own doctor you have no way of getting any complaints heard or getting compensation as they will not take any responsibility for the food/drinks which caused the majority of the hotel guests to be ill. It was so bad that even toddlers were running round holding their bellies crying about the pain.

Disgusting hotel and staff and I would advise anyone who considers this hotel to think again unless you want to loose a substantial amount of weight in a very short amount of time. If you do still book this hotel then make friends with the guys that clean the room as you will have to constantly ask them to restock the bottled water and toilet roll!

Entertainment was non existing so make sure you bring playing cards or you will be very left out when in the bars.

I have been to lots of different countries on holiday over the last 34 years and this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review to warn others. Make sure that your complaints are put in writing or you will be fobbed off and if others don't complain this hotel will never change as 5% of guests must complain for an investigation to be launched.

Travelers are raving about these Hurghada hotels

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2009

We travelled to Hurghada with a total of eleven people in our group, and all was well until we reached Egypt. As we are all new the country we didnt know really what to expect other than what we had read on here. Unfortunately for us we must have arrived behind several other aircraft as we had to queue to get into the arrivals hall. Once inside the doors we were greated by scruffy looking Egyptian airport workers who were trying to hit onto any girls that would give them the time of day. One of the workers tried telling us that it was ok to go into the toilets and have a smoke in return for giving him some money, in reality this does not happen, they take the money and you cannot smoke.
As the building was like a cattle market we were in a snaking queue but didnt really know where it was going. Eventually we got to a counter where we had to pay £13 stirling each for visas, I was told that if it wasnt paid then we would not get out of the airport (I was under the impression that visas could be got in the resort) . Once we got the visa we then had to have it stamped which meant joining another queue. After almost two hours in the airport we got to the head of the queue and sent our 9 year old son to get his passport stamped, because he was a little hesitant the imigration guy started slamming his hands down on the desk and shouting. Not a good start.
The trip to the hotel is quick, it took about about 15 mins. As everyone else has stated the hotel is a great place and we were really happy with our room. There are however a number of negative points which I will focus on as other reviewers have already mentioned the good stuff.
Firstly there the beer and spirits in the main bars are almost non alcoholic. I did a seven hour stint in the main bar upstairs and walked away unaffected by the beer and vodka, and im am not a big drinker!!! I ignored warnings to take my own spirits from duty free and were unable to buy any decent drink in the shops nearby. We later found out that there is a small bar tucked away at the side of the main staircase where the beer was canned and was pretty good.
The hotel has a disco which also has canned beer, but that is the only good thing I can say about that. There is a games room with internet access inside. The internet is really slow and you would be looking at six english pounds an hour to play pool. Other than that there is nothing much else going on, evenings in the hotel got to be very boring to say the least. We had been told that a lot of the animation team had been sacked a week before we arrived due to a mass brawl with the waiters!!!
Secondly, you will need to get your sun lounger for around 8ish in the morning. The premium sun loungers are already reserved from about 6.30 - 7 oclock. I was happy to see that the hotel will take towels that have been laid across sunloungers in an attempt to reserve them, towels and any belongings will be shoved into plastic bags and then have to be reclaimed. What was totally unacceptable was that because I was sat with 3 loungers while I waited for my family to come down the pool boy made me remove the towels which I thought fair enough, but then when he told his friend not to remove the towels from 4 beds which were totally unoccupied I hit the roof and ended up having a heated argument with them. The reason why this happened is because they had been taking bribes of packets of cigarettes.
At 6pm sharp, a whistle is blown and the whole pool area must be vacated other wise security will come and shift you. As we were on holiday we decided to have a drink at the bar close to the pool in view of our belongings, at 6.45pm we had the pool boy removing all out gear inside a big towel to be locked away in his hut at the side of the pool, my missis had to chase after the guy, have another argument to get it all back there and then. I cannot blame the pool staff for this as they are only acting on instructions from the hotel manager who is on constant patrol. So if you see a 7ft german marching around the place, you have seen the boss. During the course of my last week I heard loads of shouting and arguing from other tourists with the manager and pool staff becuse of the situation with the loungers. So all you Brits that brag about slipping these guys a few pounds to reserve your beds, you are bang out of order. As far as I am concerned tipping is for good service, not to sweeten up the pool boys.
Dont lose you towel card otherwise you will need to pay 10 euro for a replacement.
Thirdly, because there were eleven of us in our group we found it cheaper to hire a private boat for our diving trip. We were sold the trip by the sales people who are around the pool areas. We were told that we would get two dives which we did, between dives we could fish off the boat, which did not happen as they didnt have the equipment. We were told that we could visit a nearby island which didnt happen, this may have been due to our boat being rammed by another boat and putting us out of action!!! On the flip side though, the diving was excellent, I have done it a handful of times and the divemaster who took us on this was the best ive been with, said his name was Alladin. Although I did hear one guy complaining that his oxygen ran out while he was underwater a few days after our trip.
Number 4. As I have already said there were eleven in our group, 10 of which became ill and I can only point the figer of suspicion at the food. Fortunately the hotel has its own doctors and a clinic (which says alot) and in exchange for about £100 he will come to your room and stick a needle in you, when that doesnt work 20 quids worth of diarrhea tablets should do the trick!!! What ever you do please take plenty of tablets with you.
On the plus side the hotel has aircon throughout, mini bar in the room which is filled everyday for free, the rooms and whole hotel is immaculately clean.
The shops in the hotel and around the resort are full of shabby counterfiet goods including cigarettes which are well over priced, if you do want to have fake clothing and bling go to Turkey, they do it so much better and for much less money.
Happy holidays!!!!!

my girlfriend and i stayed here for the first week in july, on first impressions it does look like a 4*+ hotel, "BUT NOT THE FOOD". 2*-3* at the most. room was huge and very clean, we opened the patio doors and there were steps that led into one of the pools, which was quite cool. the main pool is huge and v clean and towels are provided for sun beds, which you have to get up at 8 am to get one. our first 4 days there we were in 43° heat, thankfully there was an on shore breeze. first night there i got stomach cramps (i personally think this was due to the heat) i popped a couple of imodium and didnt have to drop the kids off for 3 days. the beer in hotel is ok, but spirits taste nothing like they should do,so buy some duty free and just get mixers from hotel. there is a bar where you can purchase proper spirits at £5 a pop, or a £25 bottle of moët for £200 what a bargin.......there are 6 points where you can obtain filtered water. it is FORBIDDEN to fill bottles up from these points for some reason, so you have to use a glass, not good when you have to drink vast quantites of water due to the heat. we just asked our room boy for extra bottles of water when he cleaned and replenished our mini bar. i dropped him 20 egyption pounds for this, looked like he'd won the lottery.
now the food....... not good. 2 restaurants, rose and jack, use rose, jack is a bit pants. breakfast usual european mix of rank sausages and cold meats, had to wait 10 mins for omelets. lunch was the best meal of the day, better than dinner for some reason. chicken dishes, other meats, veg, salad, pasta and good old fashion chips were on menu everyday. dinner was a let down every night we were there, if you didnt eat before 9 it was cold and soggy afterwards.
there were a lot of people from eastern block countries staying here, didnt have a problem with them at all.
the aqua park is good for all ages especially kids, with attendants on hand. there was a kids club that seemed to keep them occupied. the beach was clean and sun beds plentifull. the man made peer is ok for snorkeling.
we found the staff very friendly, bung them a tip and you wont go wrong, didnt get hasseled too much for massages, just lie and tell them you are going tomorrow, worked every time for me....suckers...........
we only paid £380 for a week here so it was value for money, any more, then it wouldnt have been.
one last thing, take a trip into hurghada in a local taxi, its like being driven in the game ' Grand Theft Auto' if only to get a mcdonalds.

Hurghada

Titanic Beach Resort ( five star hotel )

Holiday June 12th to June 27th 2009

Party of five adults and six children

One adult disabled ( book with hotel as disabled )

Be warned this hotel is run by Germans.

We arrive at this hotel at around 9 pm after filling in hotel forms we where then take to rooms.( this hotel is built with two main wings travelling the full length of the complex ).
So while my wife an her sisters rooms where fine although at the very end of the first wing (which is a good five minute walk from the main hotel ,but only a one minute walk to the slides ) My disabled father in-law could not make the walk half way to his room which was also at the end of the first wing having pre-warn the hotel he was disabled.
After getting back to reception all rooms where change to with in one minutes walk of reception.

Ok so by Monday all the family had very bad diarrhoea we all had tablets to help prevent this but it just would not go away.(this seemed to be all around the hotel )
I did not eat at this hotel for the last four days of my holiday besides bread an water.

While travelling with children there safety is a main factor in any holiday.
So while pool side the hotel had plenty of life guards around to help prevent children jumping into pools an wearing un-proper swim wear i.e. tea-shirts that are not 100% nylon. Most parents use tea-shirt to help prevent sun burn of there children which was not a problem but having the life guards ask 7 times in five minutes was getting a bit stupid. In faxed every member of staff that walk past ask if the tea-shirt where ok.( so its maybe better to wear tea-shirts in white with 100% nylon in black letters to help the adults relax, instead of having to explain every five minutes that your children have the right cloths on).
Although the guards where only doing there jobs I found around the pools some things they may have paid more attention to ( see photos ).

These iron grids are place all around the pools edges with nothing on your feet or kids feet could very easily be cut open on rusting metal.

Also note the broken lamp live wires broken class all very dangers

On the broken glass, while my son was playing in the upstairs lobby bar he fell an cut his knee on broken glass which had not been clean up properly.

Notice this wire from a chair in the pool side dinner easy poke your child in the eye.

The health an safe in this hotel is a joke

All the drinking vessels the hotel has to offer should be discarded , I’ve seen cleaner glasses in a dirty pool. to be safe take your own.

So five days into my holiday around dinner time there is a fight yes u hear right a fight between the waiters an the entertainment group. around 20 people got mixed u in brawl out side the dinner hall.im not joking when I say this looked like some thing from out side a pub at kicking out time, although only four people where putting punches in it was a disgrace to this so called five star hotel. Let alone me having to see this sort of thing while I have paid good money to go on holiday.

Just before my return I spoke with one of the managers about this fight because to my surprise the entertainment group where still at the hotel , I was informed that four people had been dismissed from the hotel.

While we are on the entertainment group, don’t hold your breath poor is to good a word to some them up. And they have the gall to take every Thursday off like ok rota the group to have days off but for the hole group to take a day off every week in my holiday is a joke. good job all the waiters did not take the hole day off as well. these people need to learn from say first choice.

Shops

Simple do not buy anything from the hotel shops u will be charged double what u would pay outside the hotel.

Mini golf

Not running.

Canoe water sport

Not running fully.

Keeping your sun beds

This hotel has a strict rule on towels on bed I.e. if u leave the beds for more than five minutes your towels will be removed.
My wife asked the manger if she could go over to breakfast, he answer with if the bed is left for more than five minutes your towels will be removed. she said to him u have to many rules in this hotel im on holiday for god sake. he said we do not have to many rules u English have to many rules.

In summing up this hotel is very poor it is never a five star hotel more like a two star maybe three at most.
