We arrived in the Hotel at 2.00am but did not get the rooms before 6.00am ! Not nice after the day travelling ! The Guys at Reception were completely overwhelmed ! They allocate rooms only when you have filled the reservation forms and are always overbooked during peak time (in my case October school holidays !). The rooms themselves were quite cleaned, the food very repetitive, the staff fine if you tip them ! The pools are nice, not perfectly cleaned. The water park is great, queues not too long but there was 3 occasions in 2 weeks when they had a power cut, ie. water slides closed !
The best bit about the Hotel is the Diving School with every single member of staff very professional, polite and friendly.

Good cheap AI family winter holiday as the temperature was just right 27C although the Red Sea wasn't warm enough for me and the evenings started to get chilly. Food was reasonable and plentiful but avoided the salads but unfortunatley still got tummy upset but only on the last day (so take tablets). The bathroom sink water was yellow in colour and we used bottled water (plenty provided by hotel) to brush our teeth. Staff were friendly and helpful but we almost had a near disaster on Xmas day as you needed to book a table which neither the hotel staff or Travel Republic told us about this in advance. We turned up for dinner with four hungry children and so the staff let us in- did see others being turned away and many empty tables inside so I think they're booking system needs to be reconsidered. The hotel is isolated but we just wanted the beach, sea and swimming pools (waterpark included) and unlimited food (AI) so the holiday was perfect for that as well as cheap. Did one trip on a catamaran and I was sea sick. Didn't see the real Egypt as we didn't want to haggle with taxi drivers as we were a group of seven with four children! If you want real 5* then be prepared to pay the price for another destination. Will probabaly do Luxor as a smaller group and do the sightseeing thing taking care of what we eat. Buy visas before you go if you don't want to hang about in the airport.

I am trying to write this review with useful info, that I would have been glad to have before I went...

Have just come back from Titanic Beach Spa and Aquapark, which is part of the LTI group (can see details of the hotel at www.lti.de). There is much confusion as there are 2 Titanic hotels in Hurghada - this one is on the beach - the other is set a bit further inland.

The hotel is a 5 star Egyptian hotel - which is to say, it's not maybe upto other 5 star standards. Though, having stayed at plenty of dodgy 4 and 5 star hotels in UK and abroad, it's not really any different.

The swimming pools are fantastic - there's over an acre of swimming pools - and with the hotel being low rise, all the rooms are set around them. My kids loved the pools (the heated one is the one nearest reception). This one was about 25 degrees, with the others averaging a chilly 18 - 22 degrees. There are loads of free comfy sunbeds, but you still need to get up at 8am to bagsy your favourite spot if you wish to beat the Germans to it. Pool towels are provided and changed as often as you like.

There is a kiddy play area with swings, slide etc right by the pools. The water slides are particularly good. My 11 year old (and mid-life crisis men) thought they were fantastic. There is also a wave pool. There were absolutely no queues for any of the slides.

The beach is great - perfect for littlies (we had a 2 year old and 5 year old with us). Lovely soft sand, plenty of sunbeds, windbreaks, and the sea is crystal clear and only about 1 foot deep. You can literally wade out for a few hundred metres before it gets deep. There is a snack bar on the beach (usual free drinks, ice cream, burgers, salad etc).

The all inclusive is good. No queuing for drinks, no wristbands, cards etc needed. Juice, water, fanta, coke, diet coke, sprite etc available, plus wine. Gin, rum etc also available. Hot drinks machines with lattes, hot choc etc.

The food is available 24 hours. Having stayed at quite a lot of places, I would say this is fairly standard stuff - exactly what you would expect from a hotel buffet. I am a fairly difficult client to please, being a fish-allergic, gluten-free eater! I did manage.

The entertainment in the evenings is very short lived. If you are after a very loud, happening sort of place, it's not for you.

The hotel rooms are reasonably spacious, with free minibar (daily refilled with fanta, coke, sprite and water). They also have flat screen tvs (only Dubai tv and bbc world news - rest Russian and German). The showers are fantastic. Ladies, bring your own hairdryers! The hotel one in the bathroom is on a very short cord and there's nowhere to sit down!

We booked quad biking with Said of Youtravel (he's there daily in the hotel reception between 1215 and 1315hrs). His were the cheapest rates - £20 sterling for a 3 hour trip. Only a 15 min ride into the desert by minibus, then you do about 25kms on quad bikes, stop at a bedouin camp for tea and a camel ride, then ride back again. My 11 year old son thought it was fab. Our babysitter let us down, so they let us take our 5 year old on, too. Be warned, if you have dodgy joints, avoid this trip at all costs!! It should be banned for the over 40s! Health and Safety is very flexible - no passengers/under 16s, unless you've paid!

Cheap cigarettes - they were £38 sterling for 400 on the plane (thomas cook), but at the duty free shop at Hurghada airport between Eur 4 and 15 for 200 depending on what brand you want. Everything else at the duty free at Hurghada is ridiculously expensive - 66$ US for 3 Loreal lipsticks. Eek. The prices at the dutyfree are a mix of LE, Eur and US$. Very odd.

Hurghada, itself, is a bit of a dive, but being AI we didn't wander much. There is a new shopping mall being built about 1 mile away from the hotel. Meant to be open Jan 09.

Staff at the hotel are all male. Practically no Egyptian women to be seen anywhere (apart from the spa, which is also mainly men). Found the staff very friendly and helpful. Speaking of the spa - you will be canvassed daily whilst on the beach/by the pool to go for a massage/facial. You need to haggle. Average price seems to be about £20 sterling for an hour massage.

Weather - Christmas week - was sunny every day. Sunrise at around 0730, and sunset around 1730hrs. Temp good (20 - 25 degrees) if you are out of the wind. Hurghada has a very strong cross wind, which I suspect is lovely in mid summer, but can make things a little chilly in winter. Definitely need warmer clothes for the evenings.

Right, that's about everything I can think of for now. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
