We booked this trip with the promise of a Jeep safari through the desert, the visit of a Bedouin Village in the desert and finishing with watching stars in the sky
After being picked up at our hotel 30min earlier than expected we had to wait for another 30min at the stop where the participants usually change onto the quads. However, for us it was only sitting around and waiting for nothing because we continued in the same Jeep as we arrived. Furthermore, the jeeps are closed so don't expect to see much of the scenery during the ride since the windows get covered with sand and dust. The "desert" itself it nothing more than some bumps and sand however you will find some beautiful scenery at the final destination the "Bedouin Village."
This village is nothing more than some huts only build for tourism purposes where the inhabitants try to sell you something and expect for each attraction (camel ride, fresh bread etc) a tip.
The camel ride itself is not longer than 5 min and other attractions have no real interest.
Afterwards you are driving back to the stop where you were waiting beforehand and have some dinner (buffet consisting of rice, noodles with sauce, some salad and meat) which isn't that bad. Nonetheless, this stop usually takes one hour or more and in the end we haven't seen any stars at all but were presented with some belly dancers and skirt spinning, which was also nothing special at all.
So overall this trip should have lasted two hours at most but took overall half of our day.
If you want to view the Eastern desert I suggest to book this trip with the quad ride, which will probably be a better experience. However, don't try the jeep safari since it will be a waste of your time and your money.
