“Dangerous ripp off place AVOID!!!”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

We have recently came back from Hurghada. Visited the so called Old Town or El Dahar which my partner and me found extremly frustrating. You cannot see local people shopping in the local shops as their prices are sky high and once you are dragged into their shop they expect you to buy something. your local sales rep will advise you to knock the offered prices down by 50% by I advise you to pay only 10 - 15% of the asking price if you fancy something.

AVOID South Africa Leather, the Spice Shop next to it and Cadeau Bazar on Bazars Market. They both all very sophisticated speak fluent English sell fake saffron as real and charge you about 8-10 times of the normal price. They all think tourist from Europe are loaded with money and they are happy to pay any money for their junk. One tried to sell me a plastic bottle opener for £15 and he swore up and down it was a good price

“It isn't a tourist attraction!!”
Reviewed May 30, 2012

El Dahar isn't a tourist attraction by any means.....it's just the poorer part of Hurghada!
Nothing to see.... nothing to do....
It's residential.... why would anybody call it a tourist attraction?? Just a few run-down tourist bazaars... this at one time was where the tourists went, until Sekala was built-up, with coffee shops, bazaars... all the hassle you want!
The main tourism in Hurghada is in Sekala... the centre of Hurghada, and the new marina, which, incidentally used to be the "real Hurghada".
It was the fishing village that was destroyed to make place for the Marina.

“The Egyptian Part of Hurghada”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

As I live in El Dahar, I love it.

Much more to see and do than in the more touristic area of Hurghada, with friendlier people and a more "local" feel to it.

“Aladdins Cave”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

Everything you want is here. You must visit but don't go if you like up market shops. It's very much a huge marketplace, a bazaar, but very good for all sorts of presents.

“Good market”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Been there twice, when i first arrived ( the bust stop ), and another visit to the actual market.

Nice and interesting , plenty of shops, and you may get good bargain.

Transportation only 2.5 egyptian pounds by the mini buses, don't use taxis and private lemos, very pricey for no use! public transportation were safe and available all day.
