We have just returned from the Sea Star, & please dont take any notice of the bad reviews on here, it really isnt that bad. The resort it's self isnt very nice there isnt anyting to do or alternative places to eat unless you want to go into the Merina which is a 20 - 30 taxi ride, we went in once & it was really nice but didnt really need to leave the hotel, we had all we wanted there. If you are beach person this probably isnt the place for you as there isnt a really nice beach although I will say it is nice & quiet & there are plenty of sun beds it you just want to sun bathe. The hotel itself is very clean they are cleaning all the time, all the staff are WOUNDERFUL they make you feel so welcome & are alway on hand to help, especially the pool guy Ahmed he is superb always there with a smile & loves to have a chat he made our holiday real good fun we enjoyed our chats with him every day, & he will get you a bed if you ask him & has it all ready for you the next day. In fact I could not fault any of the staff they are all really good. The anamation team are also great they are friendly and good fun, we enjoyed the french bowls each day & joined in the games & some of the evening entertanment you just have to join in & have fun it is a really good place. The food is fine also yes it is pretty much the same each day, but there is always something to find to eat, the pasta chef is there each day & there is a selection of meat, fish, salad, fruit etc. The breads are lovely so no-one would stave, hope this helps anyone planning to go soon take my word for it it is really not as bad as some say, we have been worse places have fun.

Room Tip: We were up graded when we arrvied to a suite for one night then moved to a room on the 3rd floor on the left hand side of the building overlooking the gardens & pool, room was really nice & gets the sun from late afternoon until it goes down. We kept clean & tidy everyday.

I am just back from a two week holiday from 31 May - 14 June at Sea Star Beau Rivage. Don't really know where to start with the slating to be honest. The room was nice, although I requested a double room, we were still given a room with two single/small double beds so my boyfriend and I had to squeeze into one bed, as you couldn't push the 2 beds together. Decoration of room was a bit dated and the bathroom wasn't nice, not up to the 'five star' standard the hotel claims to be.

The food was absolutely awful, there are no other words to describe it. Nothing was cooked properly, potatoes were still half raw when they were being served, my boyfriend had chicken a few times and there were always still pink bits to the meat. The choice was rubbish, same watery tomato pasta every night (bland) or you took the chance of trying the lucky dip in the silver trays of crap! We had mussels a few times which we thought would be nice, half of them still had their shells closed and the ones that were open were covered in sand! The soups were nice when they weren't plain weird flavours, lobster was disgusting but lentil and cream of tomato were really good. The snacks at the pool were strange too, hot dogs filled with crappy meat that tasted like haggis every day with some salad on the side. At every meal without fail there were little hot dog sausages, didn't really understand that. The one good thing I had every day to eat were the pancakes at breakfast, however they also get boring after a while. The bread that was freshly cooked in the oven by the pool was lovely aswell but you can hardly live on that everyday either!

There was very little to do around the hotel unless you wanted to venture outside the front door to the shops across the road and get harassed by the owners into buying things. The guy in the perfume shop dragged us in and was trying to lure us into drinking his special herbal tea - no thank you - so we quickly left at that point. The main part of Hurghada is about 15 minutes away in a taxi. We went into the main part to get some decent food one day but the taxi driver on the way back spoke no English and drove us miles out of Hurghada so he could go ask someone where to go! Experiences like that kind of make you not want to leave the hotel so we felt trapped for 2 weeks. We went to the Jungle water park one day which was brilliant and well worth the money so I would recommend doing that!

The staff at the hotel were all lovely and very polite. Even if they didn't understand you, which was quite common, they weren't rude about it like some people can be. The waiters in the restaurant were all very nice and the service was good. I think it's refreshing for them to get English people who actually want to speak to them as we noticed a lot of the Russian guests were very rude to staff. The only staff who were quite annoying were the ones walking around the pool all day trying to get you to buy things. We had everything getting sold to us from snorkelling trips on a glass bottom boat to tattoos and massages, none of which we were interested in! They harass you everyday without fail so get used to it if you are at the pool and the beach. It gets very annoying especially when you are trying to relax, and are called lazy for trying to enjoy a chilled holiday. The animation team were all great especially Tito (the guy with the afro)! The shows are okay and can be quite entertaining but the main animation guy just speaks in Russian all the time so it was hard to follow.

The hotel itself was clean, I can't fault it at all on that part. The pools could have done with a bit more cleaning as there was the same rubbish floating in them for 2 days at a time. The beach could have been a bit cleaner also. We both had a mysterious tummy bug for 10 days of our holiday, I am still suffering from it now which is very annoying. We do not know what caused it but think it is more than likely something we ate/drank! Ruins your holiday a little bit as I felt sick everytime I tried to lie out in the sun. As said before, don't expect great things from the All Inclusive programme as there are so many things you need to pay for. We paid 150 Egyptian pounds each week for wifi, which hardly ever connected half the time and if it did it was slower than a week in the jail! The shot glasses that the drinks were served in were annoying as you had to keep going up for more as they would not let you take too much at the time.

This hotel should not be sold to British holidaymakers as they are not catered for at all. We thought we had a great deal when we booked this hotel but it turns out you definitely get what you pay for... We will not be returning to Hurghada again! Hope this helps people and encourages them not to book!

Though the hotel is looking somewhat majestic, I can't recommend it at all!
It' s situated very remotely with nothing of interest nearby. But their main problem is a service culture, that is the worst I've ever experienced!
We stayed there for 2 weeks and had paid for all inclusive; the food wasn't worse than our expectations - they were very low ;-), but apart from the restaurants and bar, all drinks were served in small plastic cups of 20 cl., which you had to carry from the poolbar to the beach yourself. As the recommended amount of water needed is above 2 liters, you have to do the transportation many times per days! Even though is wasn't stated in the rules for All Inclusive, it was not allowed to take any kind of drinks from the restaurants to your own terrace. Once the waiters shouted at us, when we learned about their interpretation of the rules (they even shouted at each other while we were dining in the restaurant).
We did complain to the agency (Bravo Tours) and the hotel and in the end, they could see our point - but then it was too late - our holiday was ruined by then.
We talked with guests from other hotels and they were stunned as their All Inclusive was quite the opposite of ours.
Don't have your holiday ruined by this hotel!

We went for 10 days May/June. Hotel itself overall is not too bad. As people said here before it's clean etc. Pools area is quite nice however there could be more sunbeds as people go down after 7 AM to reserve their sunbeds with beach towels so you don't have a big chance of getting one after breakfast. Beach could be a bit cleaner too.
Rooms basic but good enough with decent size balcony and really nice view of the sea.
Certainly the worst thing about the hotel is food. Very little choice of dishes, 9 of 10 days, for lunch and dinner they served pasta which was horrible. Apart from that there was some chicken and beef but it's nothing special. Whatever meat was left from lunch, it was cooked in sauce for dinner. We were all a little bit sick for a couple of days despite being very careful with what we ate and drank. There was always something missing: plates, cutlery or we had to stand in a queue to get a clean glass for our drinks. They served chips one night and the head chef himself was in charge of frying them and they were still served white, uncooked.
Do not expect too much from the AI programme. You will have to pay for pretty much everything apart from the food and basic drinks. £3 for an hour or £5/day WiFi with a speed of a dial up connection is a rip off. And you can only use it on one device.
Drinks are served in miniature plastic cups (about 150ml). Have to say that the drought beer was really good though.
You won't be able to relax by the pool for the first couple of days at least as every half an hour there will be someone trying to sell you something like diving, massage, photo sessions, watersports, trips to Cairo etc. It calmed down when we eventually bought one excursion from them.
Animation team staff are really nice and friendly however you can feel that all the entertainment is ''designed'' for the Russians, who were in about 90% residents of the hotel at the time.
Do not use the taxi firm opposite the hotel as they charge commision, instead walk away 50m, a car will stop and you can go anywhere half price - Dahar or Sakala centre for 10-15 LE. Bargain. Same again with the shop outside the hotel, go to the one 100m on the left and everything is half the price.
Hope it helps :)
Enjoy
