“My honest opinion”
Reviewed March 18, 2010

From the minute we landed it was a bit of a hassle as we had to wait in a huge queue to buy a visa which will cost you 20 Egyptian pounds, watch you don't get ripped of as we heard from other people they were charged more! Anyway...

When we arrived at the hotel it was dark. The reception staff were lovely, the lobby was so grand and the night animation was very amusing. We just had a great feeling about the place. As we were taken to our apartment there was a strange smell that quite often comes at night and only night time, but it was not that bad.

The room was nice, very spacious and had two double beds along with a sofa bed and a “mini bar” which is just a fridge that is stocked daily with fresh bottled water.

The food was average. Only thing is that they say they have an Italian & an oriental restaurant along with their main restaurant but they all serve the same food. It is not bad at all. At breakfast they serve made to order omelets, pancakes etc which is all delicious and at night there is always something different plus they make fresh pasta for you, what ever kind you want! And it is all topped off with a variety of ice sculptures etc...

During the day you can either relax by the pool or by the beach & when it gets too hot you can just relax in the lobby with a tea or coffee. The beer in these three hotels is non-alcoholic (well we think anyway) as being an all inclusive resort we drank it all day every day and never once got light headed... If your in search of a good drink then I recommend you go to the Hard Rock Café but it is quite expensive! We got two cocktails which cost us £60!! Although we did get to keep the glass's! Ha..

Shopping: There is some shops situated in the lobby and just of it. Across the road there is a little row of shops that if you haggle you will get things at a good price! In the other two hotels which you can go to free of charge as they are the sister hotels there is a few shops in them two. You can also book to have dinner in those restaurants and use all those facilities too! If you take a cab into down town Hurghada (Sakala) you suddenly step back in time. Great for haggling, if you enjoy it!

If or when you get bored with the Lobby, Games Room, Beach, The Bars, Health Suite, & The Pool, which is the biggest pool in Hurghada then you must try the Excursions! There is plenty available. We went on the Quad bike trail through the Egyptian Dessert to the Bedouin Tents. Most can be booked from the Hotel Reception. We also went Scuba Diving to the Coral Reef, this we booked at the Beach. Also if you get a taxi (which you share with any old person who flags it down) to El Gouna which is the Egyptian equivalent of Monte Carlo. Here there is a lovely variety of cafés & small restaurants & it is from here where we went Para Gliding which was excellent!! A cab to El Gouna will cost you about 50 Egyptian pounds. I recommend going.

Over all I thought this was a lovely resort. The only bad point was the Russians! They made no conversation at all with you, they actually acted as if we did not exist! If you are walking and they are heading your way they will just walk into you then say something cheeky in Russian to you! They talk over you and are just generally rude full stop!! Stay out there way...

The staff were OK, the more you tip them the nicer they become but if you don't tip them then expect nothing! From there the resort becomes self service... But over all they were nice, I don't think they like the Russians either as all they do is shout & scream at them. A smile will go along way with them.

Great resort, We would deffinetly go back!!!

we have just returned from ali baba and had the most relaxing holiday . from start to finish the staff we very helpful and friendly . the pool staff did all but feed you ! nothing was too much trouble for them ,clean towels ,comfy beds , hot sun . plenty of room at this time of year .you can use all three hotels on the beach but ours was far the best one . the sea is clear and warm ,lunch at the beach was good as was the evening meal , BEWARE the mad bar man ...he has no idea how to give a small measure of any short .. drink at your peril.....all in all a really great holiday if you want to chill as a couple or single person . not much night life but why stay up at night when the red hot sun iswaiting for you in the morning .take plenty of sun cream as the sun is really hot at this time of year .there are a few russians but the staff prefer the english as we are more polite ,across the road is a set price shop which is cheaper than haggeling and for less stressful we got sunglasses for £2 and a real fake bag for £20 .

After reading some of the reviews I didn't know what to expect from this hotel, but we were very pleasantly surprised! Although check in was slightly confusing (mainly because me and my partner are different nationalities and the member of staff was training), a porter took the bags to our lovely and spacious room.
The swimming pool was absolutely massive, although quite cold in the last week of January (but it is winter, after all.. so what do you expect?) There are 3 restaurants, although the oriental one only opens between 6pm and 8pm so we did not try that one. The International and Italian ones were lovely. Our favourite was the pool bar for lunch, the member of staff preparing the food is brilliant, after my partner struck up a conversation with him on day 1 he kept making special salads for us.
The room itself was lovely and quite large, and was kept very clean by our housekeeper Hassan. There was a comment made before that the beach is a long walk from reception, but the rooms are actually surrounding the pool (but very quiet) and in between reception and the beach so not far to walk at all. Even if you get fed up with these restaurants, you can get reception to book you into one of the restaurants at the 2 hotels next door, the Alladin and Jasmine Village, as they are owned by the same company so without extra charge.
The staff at this hotel are brilliant. Unfortunately they have to deal with a lot of rude Russians shouting at them for no apparent reason, but we have found that if you smile and make conversation with them they will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.

We have really enjoyed ourselves here and would most definitely recommend Ali Baba Palace!

Arrived late, taken to our room and that is where it started, a huge room overlooking the sea, immaculately clean, beach clean and easily accessible, pool the biggest you will ever see surrounded by beutiful land scaped gardens, pleany of sun beds at both, restaurants good, all inclusive, so sometimes a bit the same, but always plenty to choose from, staff all friendly and could all speak varying amounts of english,
Animation team good and from a variety of countries, trips arranged but no pressure,

all in all a very good relaxing holiday

need not be as relaxing if you joined in the animation activities, night life quiet but next door hotels apparently had good disco.

I have stayed at the Alibaba Hotel many times and find it very good value for the cost, I find the Russian guests no problem just normal familles on holiday, the only ones to annoy were a group of loud ignorant British, the beach, the pools, the grounds are all beautiful, Food is good for the cost also, you can always find something to satisfy. A lot of rubbish is written in these reviews by people who im sure are not used to travelling outside Europe, just enjoy your holiday and stop whinging

This was by far the worst resort that I have ever been to. First, when I arrived, I was forced to pay additional money (3 times what I had initially paid) to stay. They said it was a fee for being an american! (thankfully after complaining to upper mgmt, I was refunded a couple of days later)

As many of the reviews state, this place is full of russians and eastern europeans. There seems to be some hatred towards american and english ppl. The staff often ask patrons where they are from, and when our english friends and ourselves say where we are from, they immediately change their tone and walk away. We often received rude comments after we say where we are from.

Rooms come with the bare minimum and massive cockroaches.

This place is definitely not all-inclusive. Much of the food and drinks cost extra, and your only allowed to have each in certain areas. You are not allowed to bring a drink from the lobby to the night club or to a restaurant, and the atmosphere in the lobby is not condusive to relaxing and having a drink. The 3 restaurants are a JOKE. There is an international restaurant, an italian restaurant, and an oriental restaurant, BUT they all serve the exact same thing, which includes rice, bread, potatos, beef, chicken, etc. You will eat the same food every meal, every day.

To top it all off, my reservation was supposed to include a free transfer to the airport during checkout. They refused this even though I had paid for it, and thus we had to pay extra for a cab to the airport.
