Stayed at Ali baba for 3 weeks in September initially disappointed but being there for 3 weeks had to make the most of it. The rooms need a revamp especially the bathrooms. The beach is ok plenty of sun beds. The gardens are lovely the gardeners work very hard.
Restaurants
The international was very busy didn't,t like using it waiters Ahmed and Mohammed were very good.the Italian was quieter but the service was very poor the oriental was the best quieter and the service was very good.while we were there we were the only English there mostly Russians. There are shops across the road and the senzo mall nearby. We visited the senzo mall one evening and on the way back 2 14 or 15 year old boys came up to us asking us to buy some pictures, they wouldn't,t take no for an answer they left us when a moped rider arrived who the boys knew it was when we arrived back at the hotel that I found they had stole my phone so beware. I would not visit this hotel again.

Returned from Ali Baba on 31st July of 11 days sunshine.

Hotel is definitely not up to its stra rating, having said that very few in Egypt do.

The great service throughout the hotel was let down by the pool bar (Swim up part) The bar does not have any drink pumps at all on the pool side which meant you had to shout orders up to the top level when the staff eventually looked round. The staff then had to go on the public side of the bar to get soft drinks! Not well planned at all.

The rest of the staff were great from putting your towels out for you and getting mattresses to the restaurant and inside bar staff.

A good point of the hotel was all the soft drinks were self service so cut down on q's at the bar.

We had a great excursion with seawolf booked from the reception. The free entry to the Titanic waterpark was enjoyable.

The main downside for me was the Algae in the pool which was washed out from inbetween the drainage round the pool. Just poor design. Having said thath the pool area was spotless as was the rest of the hotel.

Would we go back...Don't think so, but overal we had a great time in the heat and sun and really good value

Room Tip: A room on 1st or second floor to avoid ants

As hotels go this one was one of the biggest disappointment I usually stay at the Sister Hotel the Jasmine Village but like many people I spoke to were unable to get into the Jasmine, the hotel it's self is well set out but that is about all that is good about the hotel the room I had could have done with some repair the Restaurants were not so good and I found many of the Bar Staff to be very pushy wanting tips for everything and when you did not respond the service became very slow a real shame but I think that this hotel is more set up for the eastern block countries and certainly not for the guests from Europe who did seem to be pushed in to second place I am only pleased that I will never go back to this hotel fortunately I have been able to get back into the Jasmine for my next visit in December

Room Tip: Avoid drinking in the pool bar really bad service

We were initially very disappointed when we arrived at the Ali Baba Palace hotel - rooms are basic, cleanliness of bathrooms is a problem (grout missing between tiles, mould on tiles, cracked bath sink, brown water from taps), sofa bed's mattress is only 5 inches thick and is on the stone floor. We asked to move rooms, and this was done immediately and we were put in to a same standard room but slighly better with regards to cleanliness in the bathroom and were given an extra mattress for the sofa bed.

Other negative points to note were:

- food in restaurants - had limited choice, and not of a good standard.
- in the evenings (after 10.30pm) there is a smell of sewage when you walk back to your room or in the garden.
- water from the shower was sometimes completely cold.
- all inclusive drinks are limited to fizzy drinks, watered down fruit juice, vodka and orange, rum and coke or gin and tonic.
- ice skating, bowling, internet / wifi and snooker / pool all cost money.
- entertainment in the evenings is very poor and limited activities during the day.
- location of the hotel is not great, with a few shops over the road.
- many people that we spoke to had been ill during their stay, with terrible stomach pain and very bad diarrohea. If you were unlucky enough to fall ill, it was not possible to eat anything for atleast 3 days.

Positive points:

- Beautiful large pool, with swim up pool bar and many sun beds.
- Nice beach area.
- Fixed price shop, 'Cleopatra', is over the road which is reasonably priced and means you do not need to deal with bartering.

We did manage to relax, enjoy beautiful weather and go on a couple of very good day trips. BUT we will not be going back to this hotel.

Stayed for 4 nights using this hotel as a base for diving. It is ghastly, do not stay here.

The hotel's dive centre (Deep Blue Divers) is unsafe and dangerous. Sooner or later, someone is going to get seriously hurt in their care. In three days, I came across 6 broken regulators - I was even invited to use one as it was 'just a slow leak' Physically damaged first stages, a high pressure hose with a cut in it, and 3 sets of jammed in free flow second stages. I quizzed the divemaster about this and he told me that he has pointed this out time and again to the owner who refuses to do anything about it. They also permitted a client on my boat to dive with his own equipment which was clearly faulty and dangerous. For the record I have 150+ dives logged and several professional qualifications.

The rooms are disgusting. Burnt furniture, dirty sheets, stained towels, infested with mosquitos. the bathroom is something from a nightmare - only a trickle of brown water, the colour of tea from the shower, when it worked at all. No plugs, gross shower curtain, smelly. No internet access in rooms. Cleaner banged on my door every single day asking for 'baksheesh' to make sure that my room actually got cleaned.

The hotel is huge with a strong Russian and German contingent. Staff are disinterested and unhelpful, verging on hostile and on occasion somewhat aggressive. You are virtually thrown out of the pool at 1800 when it closes.

Food is better than you might hope, the main bar in the lobby is perpetual chaos, the 'pub' seldom open and the nightclub closed for low season, like - of all things - the ice rink(!!!). Evening entertainment cheesy and Eastern European orientated.

Despite the fact that a week's all inclusive is absurdly cheap via onthebeach.co.uk, I would not return to this report if I was paid.

Room Tip: Ask to see a room before you accept it as apparently some are better than others

I wouldn't return to Hurghada, but if I had to, I would only consider a location downtown, near the Marina. The marina is basically the only place which is bearable. Ali baba lies a twenty minute cab drive from Hurghada itself. We were happy to be able to leave the resort for our diving.

The staff at this hotel are polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the general manager Mr Oueslati was so kind and caring he went out of his way to make sure everything was ok for the guests. The pool area was lovely and clean just a pity that all the pools are not heated. Drinks and snacks around the pool are good. Food in the resturants was good with very friendly, polite waiters.
The reception area is large with plenty of seating.
We was actually staying next door at the Aladdin but spent all our time and ate at the Ali Baba which is a far superior hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a pool view room
