“Winter Break!! :)”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

January 2013 got back from a wonderful 2 weeks in Sunrise Holiday Resort Hurgardha. Great location, 15 mins from the airport, central to the town and shops, bars and restaurants. All rooms sea facing, lovely superior rooms with balcony and very clean. Staff cleaning all day. Friendly, helpful staff every where in hotel. All inclusive in 3 restaurants, large variety of food, lots of yummy stuff to eat. Mostly British and German guests, made lots of friends.. We want to thank the managers of the hotel, Thomas Cook reps were excellent, Mohammad and Yossef, beach restaurant waiters Ayman and Hossam, really caring people everywhere, Chef Ashraf, Animation team who made it so much fun every morning with belly dancing and water gym, Donga, Mido, Gemma, Alana Afrff and many more. I can't speak more highly of all the staff at sunrise who couldn't do enough to make our 2 weeks experience just wonderful. Thank you and see you soon... :) Beautiful views all around out to the sea. Exellent location, close to everything. Very friendly staff in all areas of Hotel.. Good English and German languages. Excellent room cleaning and services like laundry and dealing with complaints very efficiently and quickly. Thank you to the General Manger and all the staff everywhere in the Hotel. 3 restaurants plus one ala carte.. lots of different foods and drinks to in all inclusive. Something for most peoples diet. I enjoyed the food and variety of dishes, desserts, Om Alli was my favourite Our room was excellent, huge suite, very clean, 2 massive beds, dining area, kitchen, bathroom loads of wardrobes.. just beautiful with balcony and amazing views... telephone, tvs, coffee machine, microwave.. just loved it!!! Thank you GM. Tipping is as you like. I tipped sometimes during and at the end. Good value for money everywhere. January was perfect weather for me. Very hot days and cool nights.

Room Tip: Book a superior room in advance or upgrade upon arrival.

Just back from hotel, lovely short break after Xmas/New year hectic period.Timing of trip good , hotel and weather wonderful.Room (518) kept very clean and tidy daily by Heargasy(?) who treated us with his towel sculptures each day.All ish hotel staff were always helpful and pleasant, smiling must be compulsary for them ! Lobby bar waiter on floor 5 (Mohammed suprisingly) kept our glasses filled on a regular basis and always had banter with us.Restaurants had good choices on menus, Meditteranian a la carte restaurant had a very nice set menu.Pool area well managed, towel staff escorted us to sunbeds daily and also provided wind breaaks to give that extra bit of privacy if required.Beach/lagoon added extra shelter.Animation staff infectious, could not help but want to join in daily and nightly.Final nice touch was management members and animation team members wishing us a bon voyage.

Just returned from a week at this hotel. Hotel staff are excellent... can't do enough for you. Was allocated a large room with 2 double beds with view. I stayed with my sister in law, felt very relaxed and well cared for.
There was always plenty of sunbeds. Rooms spotless. Food good, A choice of 3 main restaurants, a beach restaurant (ideal for breakfast and lunch as you could be a little more casually dressed here) and a beach hut serving drinks, pizza burgers etc. We particularily liked the Cafe bar, where our lovely waiter Mamoud served us cocktails. The atmosphere was very civilised throught the hotel, a nice mixture of young couples and older folks. The reception staff were very helpful and any minor problems... bit of leaky tap, animation team forgetting to announce in English were all sorted within the hour. The beach area was quiet and restful whilst the pool a bit more lively with lots going on, so something for everyone. It is worth a walk outside to visit the shops (important for local economy and the Marina was great for people watching). I would definitely return to this hotel for a winter sun holiday.

Room Tip: Room 240 was huge and got the sun in the morning. Also a kettle cups etc are provided so you won'...

Just back from 2 weeks at the Sunrise.
Rooms- are a littletired and having paid for a "superior sea view room with bath" we were shown to a small room with a shower. After a moan to the rep we finally got a lovely room - even if the bath did have a crack in it!! it was repaired. Room and bathroom were very clean.
Food - I agree with some of the other reviews. OK if you like stew or salad but not much variety although always something to eat. Mr Chop up your salad was lovely!! Service was great though, after a couple of days the waiters knew what we liked and we didn’t have to ask at all for drinks at breakfast or dinner, a nod or a smile was all that was needed and they were all really friendly.
The towel guys are great; we had a breaker and 2 beds every day saved for us by the guys (we were not willing to get up at 7am just to get a bed on the beach!)
We took the 2 day trip to Luxor- we were also told it was a 4 hour coach trip and we would be there by 9am. But having said this it was a fab trip, worth every penny.ASH our guide was full of endless information and ASHROFF the driver was great, he even stole some sugar cane for me to bring back to the UK!! We had a ball and met some lovely people on this trip.
The entertainment.... well......the animation team seem to favour the guests round the pool so we didn’t even meet them till a couple of days before we left but they were very good, Donga seemed like a lot of fun. The Singers on the 5th floor were not the best - but - not the worst we have ever heard in Egypt. A couple of ouzo's however seemed to help, NOT SO SURE this was good for everyone else but I had a ball!!! ( Sorry-again- to anyone who needs an apology?)
All in all we had a great time, met a lot of lovely people, Egyptian, English, Welsh and German and will probably return.
Staff who need a mention for exceptional service.... Mostafa Abdelfatah in the restaurant, Sayed, Aladdin, Maria, M.Mordy and AwadAllah You are all great!!!!
Thank you for a memorable holiday

Room Tip: High floors have better views.

after a wonderfull week on the nile and a 6 hour journey across the desert from luxor.we arrived at a lovely looking hotel.the reception area and balcony bars looking quite smart and pleasant.our room was lovely and spacious and clean, and kept that way by our lovely cleaning lad all week {room 430}.he was a gem.
1st problem, going out on the balcony for a cigarette,we closed the door behind us to keep the aircon working as we thought.only problem no handle on outside to open door.after approx 20 mins managed to attract attention of lady next door who got reception to send us someone to let us back in.apparently it happens quite regular.there is a small sign on the door but its in blue writing and doesnt catch your attention when its dark.
the food at breakfast and lunch at the aida restaurant was good,we enjoyed the choices we had.the evening meals in the el sol and arabian were not so good.a lot of tasteless stews and overcooked meats.tried the a la carte ,the service and staff were good ,but again the food wasnt brilliant.
drinks, white wine was crap and undrinkable, the rose and red were just passible, beer is nice , brandy is okay as long as its with cola, but here comes another problem.in 2 different bars on 2 different nights at 10.15 one night and 9.45 we were told there was no more brandy till the next day,but we could have gin vodka or whiskey.all of which none of our group drunk.only when we asked to see the manager or find brandy did it appear.i got the impression that each bar is allocated a certain quota of each drink and when its gone its gone.we were all inclusive and didnt expect that sort of response.even during the day the beech and pool bars were constantly running out of beer and cola.again you would have to wait up to 15 mins while someone went off to get another crate.24 bottles in a crate gave 36 glasses.after that you would have to wait again.the weather wasnt brilliant and it was quite quiet round the pool, god only knows how they would cope when its hot and busy.
this is the third sunrise we have stayed at and by far the worst.would we go back definately not
