Compact and very friendly hotel. The best thing was the animation team, all the boys were full of energy and were so friendly to everyone. They worked so hard day and night, and the dancing shows they put on were execellent.I have been to all standard of hotels, and I would say this is 3-4 star.We had no problems , there was always something good to eat, and the restaurant staff also worked hard. For what we paid through Direct Line, £740, for a 2 week stay in the beautiful sunshine was well worth it.Hurghada is a bit grotty, with half build buildings, but Hey, you are in Egypt.what do you expect.Lots of Russians, but we had no problems, met a lovely couple, Orlec and Tatiana, who tried to speak to us in english ,as we had no idea of russian, and a lovely German girl Marie who made conversation with us often. Stayed here from Sept 25th- 9th Oct, back now to the cold.

Room Tip: Problem getting sun beds, people up at 6am reserving them, but then you have to do the same, if you...

14TH-25TH SEPTEMBER. Fantastic experience from arrival to departure. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Hallim and the team on reception. We were offered refreshments, and after a short period of time in the lounge area by reception and all the necessary paper work completed,we were taken to our room by one of the luggage assistants Amr,he was very efficient and so helpful. The rooms are well maintained and well equipped with everything you will need, they also have kettles (so dont bother taking one). Rooms are very clean, towels changed daily, comfortable bed. An excellent standard of cleanliness is applied throughout the hotel. We are not early risers so we did not get to the beach or the pool until 11am or later some days but we found that there were plenty of sunbeds available complete with umbrellas and Talaat the chap who works on the beach was great, and he was always readily available to help you if you needed anything. FOOD......Amazing! I have allergies so there are alot of things not suitable for me but Ashraf the head chef,Salim and Affitar two of the assistant chefs provided me with excellent food every meal time,it was varried and tasted divine, nothing is too much trouble for these chefs,we have eaten in all three of the restaurants there and were delighted every time. The restaurant staff are brillant you dont need to ask for anything they are just so efficient, throughout our stay we had a few waiters Farrag,Cergorolis,Musataffa Affitar, and Miriam all of which made our dinning experience memorable. As mentioned before we dont get up early so we didnt always make breakfast but when we did there was plenty to choose from, a wide selection a fruits, cereals, breads, pastries, and hot food, this hotel offers international cuisine, you certainly wont go hungry here. The hotel garden areas are beautiful. During the day management walk round the pool and across the beach and come and speak to you,to ensure your having a great time and if theres anything which they can do for you( We think thats a wonderful touch and they really are interested in making your holiday magical. Entertainment is fantastic they have a programme which is suitable for everyone, they offer lots of sporting activities, which are great fun,bellydancing...you must have a go its really funny! The animation team are just brillant they put shows on every evening and its varied something for everyone. If you decide to go into Hurghada, town is only a short walking distance away, this hotel has an ideal location. Hurghada is perfectly safe and hasstle free, lots of bargains to be had for all those shopaholics and for those who prefer to stay within the hotel they have boutiqiues which offer perfumes, handbags, jewellery and traditonal nik naks. If you feel like a spot of pampering during your visit they have a hairdressers and spa both of which are very reasonably priced and offer excellent packages. All the staff at this hotel are very friendly and go that extra mile to ensure you will have a great time. If your looking for a holiday which offers 5* amenties combined with blue skies and beautiful sunshine book this hotel, its PERFECT !!!!!!!!

Room Tip: We were on the seventh floor, beautiful views.

Yet again.. what can i say about Sunrise Holidays resort .. I just come back from my fourth visit.
And will be back for Christmas.

Nothing has changed since my previous visits.. So wont repeat myself.. But i feel i must have a little say yet again about the Animation team..
These boys don't get the praise they deserve... they work so hard not only to make us guests feel welcome and part of the " Family " They also work behind the scenes for e.g they have to practice the routines for the evening shows and lots lots more.. They work far more hours in the day than people realise.. I just wish more visitors would give them a bigger mention, they deserve it.... See you soon boys xxxxx

We are a young couple first time to Egypt, we stayed at the Sunrise Hotel from 19th sept - 26th Sept 2012 after a week on the nile. Hurgharda itself is still an up-and-coming resort there are A LOT of hotels/apartments going up at the moment so there is an insane amount of unfinished building work going on but honestly dont let that put you off - Hurgharda is also on a beautiful coast of the red sea that has shops and great bars and resturants along the New Marina.
Great first impressions a beautiful building on a spacious and well maintained complex.
ROOM: We had room 401 it was clean and tidy and we had a large balcony overlooking the beach bar and a fantastic view of the sea. (noticed that some rooms had large balconys and others has smaller ones so we were just lucky there) room had a TV, medium size safe box, large wardrobe with shelves, a chest of deep drawers and a kettle with a selection of tea and coffee (however you needed to go to the bar for small cups of milk or buy yourself a tub of the powder stuff before you go!) The bathroom was a nice size with sink, toilet and wet-room style shower,
FOOD: The hotel has 4 resturants two have themes offering different cuisine everynight Food quality overall was excellent and plenty of choice, I would say however you need to be open minded with egyption food somtimes it tastes far better than it looks! The "El Sol" is buffet style this did breakfast lunch and dinner however we found this was always quite busy great for grabbing breakfast or lunch but dinner was just a bit hectic at times. The "Arabian Nights" is a much quieter option same buffet style but there less tables and a more relaxed atmosphere. The Mediteranean is more exclusive with waiter service - this isnt part of the all-inc and we did not eat there but it appears to be a relaxed romantic place to eat. The last resturant "The Aida" was under refurb during our stay so we couldnt say much about this one.
DRINK: There are several bars including the beach bar which also serves fresh pizzas, burgers, hotdogs and chips every lunch time. The all-inc on drinks runs from 10am - midnight, there is always tea, coffee, soft drinks at every bar/resturant. All alcohol is local brew there were two beers 'luxor' and 'stella' but its not stella artois just so you know, spirits are very limited just whisky, vodka, brandy & gin so I would highly recommend stopping in the duty-free before you go if your a spirits drinker they also have a list of cocktails which were all very nice. - if wine is your thing I would also recommend the duty free - egypt does not do good wine they have a basic red or white but they were pretty aweful!
HANDY TIP - They dont measure their alcohol very well so if you dont want your first cocktail of the day to blow your socks off I would recommend telling the barman to go easy on the alcohol!
THINGS-TO-DO: The Hotel has a lovely man-made sandy beach with sunloungers & brollies the red sea is warm and crystal clear. They also have fantastic access to daytime activities - boat trips to see dolphins, desert islands, snorkling, scuba diving, parasailing, glass bottom submarine, Motor sports in the Sahara Desert - quad bikes, 4x4s, dune buggys half day and whole day trips all trips generally include food and drink, practice sessions and equipment- can highly recommend these we did a boat trip and the quad biking great value for money and great experiences. The Hotel has got free table tennis and two pool tables which were about £3 for an hours play.
ENTERTAINMENT: The team are very energetic and just plain crazy at times they organised beach volleyball, darts, bouls, pool games during the day. There is some evening entertainment sometimes from the team and sometimes external sources but we often found they werent very good (cabaret stuff not our thing so its more personal opinion i think!!)

HANDY TIPS: Trouble - there was none that we saw and we travelled from luxor to aswan and over to the red sea we even spoke with people who flew to cairo who agreed any fighting is happening much much further north. There are street sellers everywhere you go and they can be very persuasive and persistant, its a bit of a culture shock to begin with but you soon learn that just simply not making eye-contact and not engaging in conversation means you get a bit less unwanted attention. The locals are very friendly, hospitable people by nature but this quickly leads to them wanting to sell you something, be careful of anyone wanting to help you with suitcases or baggage they often want paying, If you want to shop hassle-free there are a couple of shops in the hotel complex and also a small "shopping mall" in the town where everything is as priced.

Overall me and my partner had an fantastic time here, experienced some amazing things and would definatly put Egypt on the list of places to re-visit again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the middle of the hotel seemed to be quieter than outer ones due to the aircon and generato...

Stayed at this hotel from 14th Sept to 29th Sept. On arrival we was allocated room 304, OMG how loud was the AC, the generator was situated next to the room. We requested a move the following day and was allocated room 332, much better; however the AC was extremely loud and we requested that the maintenance team look at the problem on three occasions (unfortunately the initial problem was never rectified).
I thought that the beds and pillows were on the hard side, but my husband was more than happy with his sleeping arrangements.
This is our 6th time in Egypt and I have to admit that the staff within the main restaurant could have shown more willing, everything seemed to be pain! The lady at the main restaurant doors and the Maitre D was more than willing, shame that their feelings to customers did not fall to the staff within the restaurant, who were more often than not as miserable as sin. Despite giving tips each night to different waiters it was still difficult to get a drink initially with your evening meal. Breakfast was the best meal of the day, followed by lunch at the Beach Bar then lastly the evening meal. I choose not to eat meat or fish and the selection is rather poor, but my husband did eat meat dishes to no ill effect. I did attempt to eat the pasta one night and the pan was not working correctly and the dish was not hot, hence I was ill for 24 hours.
The Cafe Bar was infrequently staffed and the majority of the time we had to get drinks from the Pool Bar, shame as it was a lovely area.
I must commend all of the staff down to the cleaner, bar staff, chefs and waiter/manager at the Beach Bar, pizzas, chips etc excellent and the service was second to none, shame that the other staff within the bars/restaurants do not appear to have the same work ethics and want to mix with the holiday makers.
The Beach, I must comment on this and take offence that the only notices within the entire hotel in relation to reserving beach sun loungers was aimed at the English. You could not reserve a beach lounger before 08:00 and was hounded by the beach police initially; however I have to say that our Eastern European Holiday makers reserved beds and did not use them all day!!! Don’t go to this hotel if you are a seasoned snorkeller; as there is no hotel reef. The lagoon does have some minimum fish to see and we did see on a couple of occasions the resident turtles but other than that you will be disapointed.
Our cleaner did his job, however our own personal joke was that he was like Mr Benn and he would turn up and knock no matter what time we returned to the room asking ‘if everything was alright’?
Didn’t have any problems with the beach sellers over the two weeks and never used the red flat. We did use Gamil and went on the boat trip to Paradise Island and snorkelling. Got to say that at Paradise Island there is more tab ends and holiday makers on the beach than there is sand!!!!, really, really poor, at this point I just wanted to go back to the hotel. But, the snorkelling was good; unfortunately the wind was quite strong along with the currents and despite swimmers being asked and claiming that they were competent swimmers it was apparent that they were not, credit to the tour quides for taking them back to the boat!!!
The shop keepers/sellers within the hotel are not oppressive along ZOT Photographers, and the submarine/dune buggy tours.
Must take this opportunity to say that the majority of holiday makers are lovely; however the bulk of the Eastern Europeans that I came across were extremely rude, greedy, wasteful and ate like pigs.
Our flight back to the UK was at 21:00 we wanted to keep our room on until 17:00 and unfortunately we was told to see the ‘day staff’, come back tomorrow at 20:00 hours, see the day staff; and then to go to the Reception 13:00 the day before departure! We did keep our room on, but this service must be requested week on week, so why give holidaymakers the incorrect information. Really enjoyed the holiday, but would not return.

My wife and I travelled to Hurghada with our friend and had a great holiday at the Sunrise. We have all been to Egypt more than half a dozen times and always enjoy the experience and were not let down by this hotel, only venturing out a couple of times, once to the Hard Rock, we always go to a Hard Rock if there is one in town, and once to a bar across the street (can't remember it's name but it was a pleasant bar). From check-in to check out we found the service to be excellent and all the staff were extremely friendly. We know not to expect much in the way of entertainment in Egypt, and seldom bother with what's on offer, so we didn't spend much time watching the entertainment here, some people seemed to like it though, prefering to spend our evenings in the gallery bar where the very friendly waiters ensured we didn't have long to wait for drinks, often arriving before we had finished our previous one. We found the unusual gallery bar to be very relaxing and ideal for people watching (by the ladies). As we always seem to find in North African hotels the drinks varied from night to night, or even drink to drink, but were usually of a reasonable standard. I don't know why this should be but we did make every effort to work it out by drinking plenty of samples ;)
We generally enjoyed the food, with breakfast and lunch being particularly enjoyable, but found the evening meals to be a bit heavy, as though they'd tried too hard. We had pizzas and/or burgers most days for lunch - the pizzas were excellent and so were the burgers, McDonalds could learn a few lessons here! On the occassions we chose to eat lunch in the restaurant we found that very enjoyable and of a standard that would have been acceptable for dinner. If you want better quality food in North Africa than you get here you'd better be prepared to pay a lot more for your holiday!
We are not beach people so spent every day by the pool which is much better than it looks in the hotel pictures. We are always down to the pool early and always had our choice of loungers and didn't notice anyone else having any problems. When we did venture down to the lagoon it was as good as it looks in the pictures and enjoyed our swims and snorkelling as many other did too. It was very hot every day and the wind/breeze was more than welcome.
We never have any problems with tipping, and always take pound coins with us to tip with, but found the staff at the Sunrise, in the main, didn't look for tips and even had some staff, the pool boy in particular, looking rather surprised when offered one! The room cleaner, who was excellent, did, however, expect a tip and came knocking before we left rather than run the risk we might not leave a tip lying out for him when we left!
All three of us wished we'd booked for 2 weeks rather than just ten nights and are considering returning next year. As for the Russians (they're not all Russians) we must be getting used to them because, not only were they not a problem, we found some of them to be very pleasant, particularly the younger ones who were clearly having a great time. For those still put off by the 'Russians' there wasn't as many here as we've found elsewhere and with no children at the hotel at all it was quieter than we've found elsewhere.
Again, we had a great holiday and thanks to all the management and staff who helped provide it. A tip I think worth passing on is that we found the cash exchange machines in the hotel gave a rate over 10% better than we got at home!
I wish this site allowed you to give four and a half points as I'd have given the Sunrise that score!

Room Tip: We'd read on here that the air-con was better from the 5th floor up and sent a very late email r...

If you are over 50yrs, overweight, unhealthy and if all you go on holiday to do is drink, smoke and eat vast amounts then this resort will suit you down to the ground, if not DON'T GO!!!
I have just returned from a weeks holiday with my 2 sons aged 22 & 21years.
All i can say is if you can afford to go else where please do!
The hotel is VERY dated, on arrival we were allocated 2 double rooms on the forth floor right next to reception, both rooms were very dull, smelt of fumes from the nearby generator, tired looking, old fashioned and generally miserable with small balconies that got no sun whatsoever.
I immediately complained to the management and was told to return the following day and they would " sort me 2 very nice rooms this time ".
On my return they stated that they didn't have 2 rooms for me unless i wanted to upgrade for £75 to a suite, i did upgrade begrudgingly and paid the money, the only reason being that i would of wanted to kill myself if i had stayed in the other room by the end of the week.
The suite wasn't much better, still very, very dated and dull but the balcony was in the sun and the large type so that is why i agreed to pay.
As for the food don't get me started, all my party was ill within 2 days of landing at the resort and we are very careful what we eat and drink and with hygiene in general but one week back at home and we are all still not right so be warned.
Not only does the food make you ill but it is rubbish, cold, bland, poor selection, dinners that have been made into teas, so it was of no great loss not to be able to eat after day 2.
If you like to keep active don't go to this resort it has nothing to offer you, the gym is very small with very limited equipment and is so hot it is unbearable to work out in, but me and my sons did use it and the only benefit was there was never anybody else in it!
The only thing that this hotel has got going for it is the sun which you will get at every other resort so go to another resort instead.
