My daughter Charlotte,16, and I stayed at this hotel between 15th-25th July. This was our first experience travelling to Egypt, so consequently we were nervous and uneasy about what to expect. Having only travelled around Europe and the U.S. we were seeking somewhere different for this summer. We arrived close to midnight, yet we were greeted with absolute care and understanding. We were even given a drink whilst checking in, followed by an enjoyable continental meal outside on the terrace. During our stay we learnt that there were multiple places to eat for lunch and dinner. including: pizza place for dinner, indoor restaurant where food can be consumed outside on the terrace, underneath the Egyptian stars which we chose to do each night of our stay; and crepes, and hotdogs at lunch time on the terrace. It was perfect! The hotel owns it's own private beach where freshly laundered towels are handed out each day. Also, whilst we were there, the hotel were in the process of making new wooden sun beds for extra comfort. Each night, a mini disco would be performed by the excellent animation team for the children and then later on we would be treated for some entertainment catering for the adults. Each night there was a different theme for the show so you never got bored. One night, there was a british comedy theme and the entertainment was great! We had the opportunity to take part in some amazing experiences. Such as Snorkelling with Max where you get to snorkel in some wonderful parts of the sea and view some incredible sights of the underwater life. My daughter really enjoyed it and it was completely affordable. You also get to visit Utopia (an island) and travel in a glass bottom boat and eat a delicious freshly prepared lunch onboard. It was truly amazing! Also we went quad biking with Mohamed through the desert, where we rode a camel and sat and drank tea with the Beduins. Also we watched the sunset. It was beautiful. So enjoyable that we went twice. Mohamed was a truly perfect guide and a lovely person. During the days, many activities were available, to name a few: darts (although not having played before, Charlotte won and was brought on stage that following evening to accept her 'diploma') Aqua gym in the sea (Charlotte did this as well and enjoyed it a lot with Medo, one of the animation team) volleyball e.t.c. Medo and Khaled worked really hard to make everyone's holiday enjoyable and without them, the animation team wouldn't have been as good. At meal times, the chef worked very hard to keep the food varied, and there was always something to be enjoyed. I particularly enjoyed the lunch time salads and Charlotte enjoyed the chicken because it was always juicy. The waiters were extremely helpful and fun! One morning, Charlotte was presented with heart shaped pancakes, that made her smile. Quite often Charlotte and the other children would play table tennis with the waiters because they always took time to play with them whenever they could, which meant that she was never stuck for a game. During our stay we encounter a few problems with our room, however everything was taken seriously and dealt with immediately. Aziz on reception was very approachable and nothing was too much trouble for him to sort out. Mr Zacharia Attallah, the front office manager, was very passionate about the welfare of each and every one of his guests. Some of his guests had returned as many as 13 times to the Sol Y Mar. We could go on saying far more about how wonderful this hotel is but the best thing you could do is go see for yourself! I know we will definitely be returning very soon, to visit out new friends in Egypt. I want to thank everyone at the Sol Y Mar paradise who made our holiday the best yet! Christine and Charlotte
