Having stayed in 3 other Oberoi properties in the past there were high expectations when arriving in Hurghada. We needn't have had concerns, From our warm greeting on our arrival in the foyer by Mr. Pereira the General Manager and some of his team, the customer service throughout our stay was excellent. Apart from the 5 star luxury one would expect, what makes Oberois stand out from "the rest" is the staff, and the excellent training they have obviously received. They are friendly, helpful, attentive - but never crossing the line to become over-familiar. The comparatively small size of Oberoi hotels ensures that the staff are able to give personal attention to guests - very quickly knowing their likes, dislikes and personal preferences. This makes every guest feel special, as if they are the most important person staying at the hotel.

The facilities of the hotel are well documented in other TA reviews so I won't repeat them - other than to say that the suites are excellent and very spacious. My husband had his birthday while there and the hotel really went to great lengths to ensure he had a memorable day. Even at breakfast, staff welcomed him with a "Happy Birthday"! When we returned to our suite in the evening after dinner the staff had really surpassed themselves - we were greeted with a room full of candles and flowers, and other little treats. I think it can be summed up when I say that he was actually moved to tears by the kindness of the hotel.

My congratulations and thanks are extended to Mr. Pereira and his whole team for making our stay so memorable. We do so hope to come back in the not too distant future.

Couldn't fault it anywhere ...let me think .... oh, hey, just thought of something. I suppose if you unaccountably found yourself having to download some humungous file or other from the office (when really you should be out diving - great Dive Centre ... on the beach - no sooner stretched-out than a marvellous attendant helpfully turns up with water, sun lotion and a cool towel ... round the pool - really good bar/ restaurant) then you might figure that the internet/wifi in the villas can run a bit slow at times. Apart from that, its perfect. Had a fabulous stay and will return like a shot if at all possible.

I would like to update all readers that we are in the process of upgrading our internet speed at the resort. We are geared for really high speeds due to our infrastructure at the resort but unfortunately, the line coming into the hotel from Hurghada is of a small bandwidth. However, this will soon change. In the interim, we offer free wifi in all areas of the resort. We look forward to your return visit.

I and my wife chose this to be our honeymoon destination as it was highly recommended by a friend of ours who stays at this hotel regularly when he travels to Hurghada, Egypt. The minute we arrived at the hotel in a Mercedes E class (special service provided by the Oberoi) from the airport we fell in love with the surroundings and scenery. We received a grand welcoming by several front office staff including the general manager Mr. Dhiren Pereira.

Once we were escorted into the hotel reception to check-in we felt at home due to the supple and humble nature the staff treated us with. We soon were taken to our suite, which was a grand suite with a private swimming pool. The suite was perfectly located within the resort with the beach front (Red Sea) right outside our front door. The suite itself from the interior design to the décor was exceptional. The bathroom had a sunken bath with an enclosed shower which gave access to the garden. The furniture was of the highest Arabian nature, it made the suite very spacious and comfortable. The little touches that the housekeeping staff made for us such as flower petals all over the room along with it being laid on top of the pre prepared bubble bath, lit candles and origami’s made from towels was very warming and made us feel very special and delinquent. The housekeeping staff made new origami designs everyday with newly laid out flower petal designs as well. The private pool area had two sun beds and was very spacious; it gave us the privacy required, also the pool water was warm even though the month we went in was considered winter months in Hurghada. The suite was cleaned to the highest spec every day, twice a day when needed.

The food would bypass Michelin star quality if there ever were a phrase. The presentation and taste was absolutely world class. All chefs present in the hotel were willing to prepare there on the menu food and off the menu request exactly to fit your taste buds. They have all the world cuisines available at your request as well as 24 hour in suite dining. The head chef, chef Ashish is a world class chef to say the least. He would ask us every day if the dinner was fulfilling and satisfying and if we would like the food to be prepared any differently. We made a few requests to him about arranging special off the menu dinner on a few nights and we were not let down. Some of the dishes he prepared for us were the best dishes we had of that kind anywhere in the world. That goes for me and my wife. Nevertheless the whole team under his management were exceptional and very probing. Every time we were eating at the restaurant they were making sure we were enjoying the food and if there was anything else they could do for us. The hospitality was first class. We literally felt like king and queen due to the way we were treated from the restaurant staff, housekeeping staff all the way to front office and managerial level.

This resort is built for relaxation at its fullest. Due to its beautiful landscape and greenery view looking at the Red sea, it made the resort very secluded and peaceful. The tranquillity of the place was out of this world. There’s no better way to relax then getting spa treatments, which we were getting more or less every day. The treatments were first class and one of the best if not the best we’ve had anywhere in the world. Again the staff members in the spa area were very polite and friendly and adhering to our needs.

One night we were recommended to have candle lit dinner on the pier which was a great experience and once in a lifetime moment. We were also recommended by staff to have a go at star glazing as the skies are very clear at night and you able to see so many stars and various planets dependent on the time of year. We managed to see the planet Jupiter like we’ve never seen it before, it was an unforgettable experience.

This stay in the Oberoi was by far the best we’ve experienced; the hospitality is unexplainable in words, you have to experience it to know the feeling and meaning of the word hospitality. The stay left us both very refreshed and with great memories. The experience was down to the staff. It’s the staff that makes this hotel extraordinary. We were in daily contact with Khalifah, who is at the hotel reception desk, he went out his way to fulfil all our requests make sure we were happy and satisfied with all the services at all times. And if he was off shift, then covering staff were exactly the same. They would go out the way for you on any incident, and if you were unhappy about anything i.e. the food didn’t match your taste buds then they will make sure the next time it’s made to your likeliness.

We would personally like to thank all staff from the hierarchy up to bottom for a very memorable stay and immensely recommend this hotel for any travellers as it exceeded all of our expectations by a country mile.

And just for the knowledge, please ignore all the negative news you hear regarding Egypt as it is nowhere near as it seems on the news. We did not come across one bit of trouble or see anything untoward whilst on our stay there.

If you ever go to Egypt, you have to go to this hotel otherwise there is no point you travelling to Egypt as you will never know what you’re missing out on!!!!!

Room Tip: Grand suite or Royal suite.

We traveled with a large group and unfortunately arrived at a time when the property was undergoing significant maintenance. The management was fantastic and tried very hard to make up for the inconvenience with compensation and we really appreciate that. The housekeeping was exceptional, the spa and massage as good as anywhere in the world, although we found the restaurant staff service to be inconsistent, sometimes 6 star but at other times almost nonchalant and complacent. The pool was closed which was unfortunate but then the weather was against us anyhow but our biggest complaint was the hot water plumbing to our suite was full of sand, and even after maintenance came to to our room and cleaned the pipes only minutes later they were clogged with sand again (and this was the same for a number of others in our group too). When everything is right this may well be the best hotel in Egypt, the suites are probably the best we have ever stayed in, and we would love to return when the weather is better and all the maintenance is complete.

I would like to let all readers know that we have recently refurbished our main swimming pool area which was closed for a month. Pictures of the newly renovated area are available on our Facebook page. We now have an upgraded facility for all our guests. I would like to thank all our guests who stayed with us during this period for their understanding and support.

It is true that we unfortunately did experience problems with our hot water boiler for a period of 4 days while the group was in house. We have now rectified that issue and the hotel hot water system is back to normal.

We look forward to all our guests experiencing our refurbished pool facility and wish all our readers and well wishes all the best for the new year ahead.

My wife and I stayed at The Oberoi in late November 2013. We have stayed there I think 11 times now since 2005 and the experience simply gets better and better.

As a couple we are fortunate to be well traveled and understand the value of good service and attention to detail when traveling either for business or pleasure. The Oberoi is one of those places where we can go back once or twice a year and know, without fail that the accommodation will be excellent, the food fantastic, the spa well staffed and friendly, the management team engaging and efficient, the dive center well equipped and that everyone on site has one focus, that being to ensure that guests have a fantastic stress free stay - nothing is ever too much trouble.

There is too much to single out but The Oberoi is a place where you can book with complete confidence, knowing that the team under their General Manager Mr Dhiren Pereira will take care of everything for you and you can leave the real world at the gates to the hotel. A particular highlight this stay was to ask the chef if he could prepare a couple of our favorite dishes for us that were not on the menu. He was thrilled to be asked and delivered a wonderful, personal experience.

The Oberoi is a gem of a find and although we travel to other places to ski, safari, explore, for us, the only place to relax, unwind and just chill out is this oasis of excellence in Sal Hasheesh.

We have already decided to return in 2014. Should you decide to head to the Oberoi you will not be disappointment.

This is by far the best hotel in Egypt. I know you might consider this to be an over the top statement, but it is true. Even though Egypt is going through the worst tourism disaster since the 1973 war, Oberoi seems to be living through another era. The service is beyond excellent. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is just perfect for couples at any age, at any phase of their relationship. Considering safety, I think my wife and I forgot for sometime that there was anything going on in Egypt. You will have your privacy. For each Egyptian pound you will spend you will get the service you deserve. And if it happens and there is something that you don't like, just mention it and probably you will find the General Manager himself - very nice guy - working on it himself. My wife and I totally recommend it. The place is a little piece of heaven.

I had spent 4 days at this awesome hotel...i just felt luxury treatment with simple moving .....the food was great....the places were extra clean....everything was just perfect....the most thing i admired that u never get annoyed by the staff they all were very friendly and quiet ....it is ghe perfect place for relaxing,honey moon,or even enjoying funny vication!!
By any means i enjoyed everything there , starting with welcome guide till goodbye gate

Just spent two weeks at the oberoi, the accomodation was a large king bed suite with a seperate sitting area. There are two large flat screen TVs in each suite a private courtyard with dining area and sun loungers. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The bathroom is large with shower and sunken bathroom in granite and the toiletries are replaced daily or if you run short on request. The whole complex is kept remarkably clean by the staff. The staff deserv a special mention because to a man( and woman ) they are polite helpful and above all a friendly people who make you feel welcome an liked.My wife and I both had birthdays during our stay and both had birthday cards and a cake delivered to our room. ... more   less
