“Not a true 5 star”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

we stayed at this hotel for 11 nights with my grandson aged 11 at the start of November, we had a hic-up at the start as the room we were allocated only had two beds and a baby bed for my grandson, this problem took until the third day of our visit to get sorted and was only corrected when Mr Hassan the general manager got involved, it seems that no one else on reception is willing to make decisions or take responsability.
As stated in many other reviews the staff are very friendly and will do whatever they can to help, Due the the problems in other parts of Egypt the hotel was said to be only 25% occupied and as a result only one main restaurant was open. there are 18 pools but all except one were very cold and this one was over heated, though it was cooled down after a few days, there are 11 main water slides but until the last day of our stay only 5 were open.
In my opinion the only letdowns at this hotel are limited choice of alcoholic drinks and the quality of the food served and these points prevent me claiming that this is a 5 star hotel, I would suggest that people who claim it is have never stayed in a true 5 star, Overall I think our stay was very comfortable and good value for money but Thomsons should still consider altering its rating down to a 4 star

My wife and I stayed at the Jaz Aquamarine 4 -18 November. First impression on arrival was "this looks great" and I am pleased to say it continued to exceed expectations for the price paid. The inside and outside of the hotel is spotlessly clean 24/7. The staff cannot do enough for you and I believe that they genuinely were happy to do so. A special mention to Sayed the Rep who was very personable, helpful and knowledgable and to Nadya and Kano from the animation team who were extremely friendly and fun, they even took the trouble to turn up in their own time to say farewell at the end of the holiday. We had a few minor problems which were instantly resolved. The only reason I have not rated this as excellent is that the beach is not that great yet there are large areas of grass and sunbeds adjoining the edge of the beach.
The management team constantly asked for feedback as they wanted to meet every single expectation of you as an individual.
I would recommend this resort and hotel to families and couples of all ages. Jaz Team, Well Done!

Its such a shame that Egypt has had its troubles, the impact on its beautiful holiday destinations is clear to see BUT please - its safe in Hurghada!
The Iberotel Aquamarine surpassed ALL of our expectations, its immaculate, the staff are never found wanting, the food and choice is amazing, the rooms and surrounds are stunning.
This is a 5* resort and DONT let anyone tell you differently!
Our week 8.11 was filled with sunshine @ around 30 degrees, we wanted for nothing!
Our best wishes go to all the staff and I do hope the time of troubles pass, we will return!"

Just got back from a 7 day break in this little piece of paradise, I would recommend this 5* resort to everyone, the staff are so friendly and helpful and genuinely want you to have the best time. Sunbathing in November blew my mind, but not as much as the stunning resort, the floors gleamed the swimming pools ( all 18 of them) glistened and everyone had beaming smiles from ear to ear, the animation team were totally amazing, mingling with all the guests making everyone feel special, arranging activities during the day and putting on shows almost every night for our entertainment, crazy darts was my favourite little pass time as I won crazy chicken, but there are a range of activities from water aerobics to Zumba dancing, crazy darts, belly dancing scuba diving, glass bottom boat trips, four Island boat trip, quad biking camel and horse rides and so many more things I never got round to doing.
The food was outstanding with so many restaurants on the resort u could eat at a different 5 star restaurant every night.
If u are looking for a piece of heaven choose this hotel ( being renamed the jaz aquamarine this month November 2013) and you won't be disappointed if I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. When u get there tell them Lisa sent you.
Once you've holidayed here you'll never want to go anywhere else
My rating 10 outta 10
Thank you jaz aquamarine for the holiday of a life time

My wife and I arrived here on 4th November and were greeted by Mohammed Hassan and Sayed and given a welcome drink and fast track to our superb sea view superior room. The resort is stunning and spotless, with all staff constantly cleaning and making sure everything is perfect for your holiday. The main buffet restaurant has two live cooking stations plus a huge selection of all types of food to suit every taste. The staff there are very friendly and most willing to serve you and show the high standard of training that this resort maintains. We were fortunate to be invited to the formal name change to Jaz party this was a lovely evening where we were treated to some first class food drink and good company. The al a carte restaurants are all good our favourite was the middle eastern really great food and excellent front of house man. The others are all good with authentic Italian ,Asian and seafood to choose from. The main pool is heated to about 30c which was amazing it was probably the warmest pool I have ever been in and again spotless. The bar staff throughout the resort are again very friendly and when you have just finished one drink and next is there. The quality of the wine is very good the white like a £5 Chardonnay and the red a good Spanish style tinto, the London gin is really good and whiskey although different was also good. Tracy the customer service manager does an excellent job constantly making sure that everything is to your satisfaction and most willing to listen to constructive ideas a credit to this resort. I had some very good meetings with the GM mr hany a very interesting man with a wealth of knowledge and experience and it shows in his management of the resort a true captain at the helm. To conclude in my professional opinion for price and everything considered this must be one of the best resort hotels I have visited and greatly look forward to returning

Just back from a week at this 5* resort, the staff were really great, nothing was to much trouble, everyone was really helpful and always on hand. You get a lot of "sellers" coming up to you in the day however we found that as long as you said NO they went away, the only person i found really annoying was the guy from the wellness centre who would not give up!.

We found the food a little challenging as we both come from a food background we expected more from a 5* resort - i would however recommend the restaurant by the pool bar as this served some good local food in the evening.

We tipped our room attendant daily which was great as i was able to get extra water (i took this tip from another reviewer which was great).

There are a few shops outside the hotel to the left and if you walk to the right for about 30mins you will find a fixed price shop where you can buy some gifts if you don't want to haggle.

There is not a lot to do outside the hotel so its a great place if you just want to sit and sunbath and swim, however don't be fooled by the pool signs saying they are heated when they are not. out of all the heated pools only 1 had the heating turned out so you had to use this one every day if you did not want to swim in could water.

We did a snorkelling trip which was really great and I would recommend this if you have not done it before.

The mosquitos are really bad, I got bit over 30 times which was really not a very pleasant experience so i would suggest you take lots of piriton and antiseptic cream.

We would personally not go back to this area of Egypt again as for us there is not enough to do!

Room Tip: All the rooms look over pools
