“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2012

We booked this holiday a week before we were due to arrive on the 3rd Feb 2012. We were advised by the Rep at Thomson that you didnt need a visa unless you were going out of the resort on a trip - but on arrival at the airport, we had to pay £13.00 each for yes you have guessed it - for a visa. We questioned this but were told it was compulsory.

It is an absolutely fantastic hotel with masses of swimming pools mainly all of them heated 2 waterparks and a hugh sunbathing areas around the complex and it was very quite at this time of year. We wouldnt come at the height of the season or school holidays as it would be absolutely manic especially with the hotel having over a 1000 rooms.

We had a lovely room with the towels and bedding changed everyday and the usual towel and flower decoration laid out on the bed each day.

It was also my birthday whilst we were there and a lovely card and chocolate cake were delivered to our room.

There were a large array of bars and seating areas around the complex and the waiters were very attentive and delivered your drinks, sometimes without having to ask for them. There were Al la carte restaurants and on arrival you were given a free ticket to each on one of those for free. We ate in the Chinese restaurant and the food was exceptional. The food in the main restaurant was of the usual buffet style but they also had in the restaurant a seating area for Adults only which was a nice touch and again, the staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. The restaurant also had a microwave which was an asset as sometimes, the food was only aired so you were able to warm your meal according to your individual needs.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone especially just out of peak season if you were wanting somewhere a little quieter and wanting to be pampered.

We (couple, 28 & 29) spent one week in this resort in November 2011. This was my first time ever in a resort and my first All Inclusive holiday. Excuse the length of the review.

*** Arrival

Airport was crowded with long queues. We had to pay 25 Euros each for the Visa to enter the country. There are ATMs in the baggage claim area. Transfer to the hotel was fast and painless.

Having arrived in the hotel we were greeted and accompanied to our room. Our luggage was delivered quickly afterwards. This was the first time we were asked if we could change Euro coins into bills. Coins can (apparently) not be exchanged into Egyptian pounds in Egypt so expect to be asked this question frequently.

*** Room

We had a "Superior Room" (which seems to be the default two person room) on the ground floor close to the beach and the Aqua Park. It was very clean and spacious. During our stay it was never too noisy so the proximity to the Aqua Park was not a problem. We had one complimentary bottle of water and you have to pay for any more you want from the Minibar which I disliked a lot especially for an All Inclusive resort with tap water that you shouldn't drink. At least water should have been provided for free. The room had a safe, a kettle and a hairdryer.

Most of the other guests were Russian as far as we could tell but you'd also hear a lot of German.

*** General

There are water fountains all around the pools with drinking water but signs say you shouldn't fill up bottles there which is ridiculous considering my earlier remark.

There's an ATM adjacent to the lobby (it's a bit hidden, just ask)

We wandered by the spa one day and were immediately "attacked" and asked to sit down. We were offered all kinds of things but after we said we'd think about it our host disappeared without saying a further word. This is the kind of treatment we came to expect during our week. If people can't make money off you they ignore you.

The opening hours for almost everything were kinda disappointing for us as we'd for example would have loved to have a late-night snack (which does exist but requires reservation) and a bar that's open for longer. The pools also close at sun down.

Also annoying is that you're confined to the hotel beach. Wander to the right and hotel security of the next hotel stops you.

Last but not leas it was very annoying that people would come up to you every 10-30 minutes and try to sell something to you be it spa treatments or surfing lessons. Everyone wants to start a conversation even if you're clearly relaxing or reading and not interested. I realize that this is a cultural difference but it certainly is one thing that put us off.

*** Restaurants

There are two main All Inclusive restaurants and four A la carte restaurants which you can once for free during your stay (one of them) after which you have to pay 5 Euro per person. The two main restaurants ("Topaz" and "Four Corners") served the same food as far as we could tell and one of the "Corners" was always closed during our stay (the "Oriental" part). But the "Four Corners" was less crowded so we'd usually go there.

The food was average at best. It was never really warm and there wasn't a lot of variety. We saw the same food multiple times and we only stayed one week.

* Topaz (Breakfast 7:00-10:30, Lunch 12:30-14:30, Dinner 18:30-22:00, Late Dinner 22-00:00 previous booking is required)
* Four Corners (Breakfast 7:00-10:00, Dinner 18:30-21:00)

These are the A la carte restaurants and all of them are have two seatings, one from 18:30-20:00 and another one from 20:30 until 22:00:
* La Rocca (Italian)
* Ginger (Asian)
* Sennara (Fish)
* Zaitouna (Lebanese)

You have to make a reservation for these restaurants on the same day between 10:00 and 12:00 in the restaurant. The food in our restaurant (Lebanese) was good but nothing too fancy.

There is a late breakfast in the "La Perla Pool Restaurant" and it was very disappointing. We had one or two different kinds of cheese and jam and yoghurt along with a few (three/four) bread choices. I had expected more or longer "normal" breakfast. I like to sleep in especially on holiday.

*** Bars

There are multiple bars in the resort some of which also serve snacks. I'm not a heavy drinker so I can't comment on cocktails but the Egyptian beer was okay.

* Fayrouz Lobby Bar (10:00-00:00)
* La Perla Pool Restaurant (10:00-18:00, Late breakfast 10:30-12:00, Snacks 12:00-17:00, Tea Time 17:00-18:00)
* Paradiso Beach Bar (10:00-18:00, Snacks 12:00-17:00)
* Fantasia Disco (22:00-02:00, Drinks only free until 00:00)
* Waves Bar (17:00-00:00)
* Aquarius Bar (10:00-18:00, Snacks 12:00-17:00)

All Inclusive is only from 10:00 until 00:00 and covers Soft drinks, Mineral water, local Beer, Egyptian Wine and all local spirits. Imported alcoholic drinks cost extra.

*** Beach & Pools

The beach area is nice. Mostly grass covered and we never had a problem finding a sunbed. The pool areas were usually more crowded but even there we always found two sunbeds. To get to the local reef or water where you could swim in you'd have to walk quite a while and sea shoes are a must (I'd say) because there are a lot of sharp things in there. But if you're snorkeling the walk is very worthwhile, a lot of fish and other interesting things to see. We liked this part very much and the walk out to the water's edge can be very relaxing.

The pools were very nice, we never had any problems with noisy kids and there are special kids pools. They seemed very clean and warm enough. We would have liked to go for a evening swim but that wasn't possible because all pools close at sundown.

I've put off writing this review for a while so I'm sure I forgot some things.

In general though it was a very nice week. The hotel was clean and didn't promise anything it couldn't deliver. We probably won't return just for the aforementioned cultural differences and the constant haggling and hassling.

We had the best holiday. The hotel is immaculate. I cannot stress enough how clean this hotel is. I was lucky enough to have a kitchen tour and can say 100% that i would happily eat anything they prepare. The standards put our own restaurants to shame. Look out for Mahmoud in the four corners restaurant as he made our meal times a pleasure. A smile and thank you goes a long way here. We couldnt believe how rude people can be! But the staff never faulter nothing is too much trouble.

We where honeymooning and they made our room extra special by making towel animals everyday on the bed, its quite amazing. we where there two weeks and never the same thing twice!

The only negative was having to use water stations or buy bottled water from the hotel. Usually you get this free. however there is a shop down by the diving school on the beach and they sell water cheaper than the hotel and really friendly or just use the water stations.
They also sell beach shoes. you will need these as the beach is quite rough and the shallow water is full of life. But fine as long as your feet are covered.Please do your research this is not a lovely sandy beach with sea you can swim in. You have to walk out pretty far to get deep water but its still lively.
I really could rave about this place all day. We will definitely be going back and whole heartedly recomend it to everyone You will love it here!

Just returned from 1 week of absolute bliss, at this amazing resort.
The staff were all very friendly and the service was fantastic. From the bar staff to reception , beach bar staff and the housekeeper who cleaned our room every day who would every day put our towels on in different animals! Lovely touch made us smile.

The food choices are also excellent we had good food every day, weather it was breakfast lunch or dinner. Haven't eaten so much in years!

Facilites also execellent, 18 pools , right on the beech and an aqua park!

Overall a great hotel and we will be back!

I returned yesterday, after one perfect week at Iberotel. The hotel is beautiful, with all the facilities you need. The rooms are great and really clean, we stayed at ground floor, with a balcony facing the backside garden. The service and hospitality are amazing, all of the staff are constantly smiling and doing their best effort to make you feel comfortable. The animation team made the whole week really fun and entertaining, with activities from water aerobic, yoga, volleyball, dance lessons and different shows in the evening. The food was really good, and theres a lot to choose from. It´s a big big hotel, but it never felt overcrowded, neither during the meals or at the poolsides. Theres a lot of water slides, and a very nice beach.
I would recommend this hotel with all my heart, and i´m definitely going back. Wish I could go back immediately.

e stayed for a week in February half term. The weather ranged from about 22 degrees to about 27 degrees and still through to windy. We had a very comfortable and spacious Family Delux room on 1st floor room overlooking the pool. The room was large and and kept beautifully clean like all of the hotel. We had breakfast in the Four Corners which is around to the right of reception rather than The main restaurant which is very busy and a bit canteen like.  We either had dinner mostly at the Italian restaurant on site La Rocca or at the Four Corners. The food in the main restaurant is good but not quite warm enough. You can either eat off the Included menu in any of the 4 A La Carte restaurants or pay extra for certain dishes and some better wine. The service in the hotel is generally very good although small and frequent tips do make a difference. The pools are large and fabulous and the slide complex is also very good and open all day from about 10:00 to 16:00 except about 13:00 to 14:30 for lunch. The beach is rough sand and very shallow although there is an area you can swim in. They're are plenty of bars to drink in the beer and cocktails are ok and the wine is poor lunch can be taken in either The Main Restaurant although it is much nicer at the Beach Bar or Pool Bar with simple fare. We did a submarine trip and a fishing trip which was good, and a beach day to Mahmya island with snorkelling from the beach and from a boat plus a good lunch and we were very lucky with the weather and had a great day. Use the hotel taxis which cost only about one pound more each way to some local fixed price bazaars rather than the ones outside the gate which can be dangerous. All in a good holiday and a hotel and resort I would bring my wife and 9 year old son to again. When you arrive you pay your rep 15 dollars a person immigration tax per person and they then provide you with a stamp in your passport to get through immigration. It is better to have US dollars otherwise they charge you 15 pounds each.
