We really enjoyed our stay at the the Aqua Park. We had a room very close to the park ( room 2001), so it was not a big walk to get around, but I think if you stay in the rooms starting with 4 or 5 you could be further away. If you don't like your room, just ask reception for another, they are very good at helping you. Just 1 little thing...there is no lift to the ground floor, so wheelchair users have to go back outside and down a slope at the side of some rooms, which could be a little unfair I feel.
The park is great fun, it is difficult to fault, and there is plenty to do for everyone, and all ages. You know what you are after if you come here, so enjoy!
Our room was lovely, and really well kept. Our cleaner was a nice chap who always asked if we needed anything. Tip well, these people deserve it.
The food is fine, if a bit samey......try the marina which is a 20 mins cab ride away, as there is lots to see and do there, and enjoy the hustle of Sheraton Road, which is always a lively place if you're after a bargain. I strongly suggest you try 'The Lodge' steakhouse. The food is really excellent, and the staff outstanding. Our son was unwell when we went the 1st time of 2 visits, and they treated him really nicely, paying him lots of attention to cheer him up. Highly recommended.
Some people said there is a fly problem. Yes, they can be a pain, but stick with it, as it is Africa, and it's part of life there. We had no big issues in our room, but cover drinks when outside, as they like to take a bath in them!
We were ok in November, as the place was quiet (apart from miserable Russians, but they are funny, so don't worry about them, just smile at them, they don't know what to do!), but the food courts are just not big enough for peak season. I'm glad we aren't going in Summer holiday time, as it will be carnage in every restaurant.
The location is not too good, but nothing is a great distance away, so don't fret about being stuck in the middle of nowhere.
That said, we had a great time. Friendly staff, nice rooms, and cold beer made for a great family holiday. We would go back no problem.
Just one last thing which I hope you remember.......if you get a cab, agree the price, and when you pay, count the cash you give, note by note. The taxis have a scam where they swap notes and say you have made a mistake, and then you have to pay more (this is when you hand over a few notes at once). It's actually quite clever, but don't get stung!!!!
Have a great time there, it's a good fun place and well worth a visit.
