“A marvellous vacation.”

Next time we travel to Hurghada Egypt, there is no doubt that this is the hotel we will return back to. This big All Inclusive hotel was really appealing to us from the first moment we arrived. It was clean, quiet, and the staff was there for you to help you whenever you needed them. Delicious meals and drinks were served at almost any time you want or need, from early morning to late night. The only thing that we missed at the hotel during our 8 days stay was a Cash Machine.

We just came back from our trip to Egypt, and what a trip it was!!! Fantastic! We were there for two weeks. The first week we were on a cruise on the Nile onboard the lovely Nile Sapphire (we highly recommend it) and the second week we stayed at the Citadel Azur. The hotel is wonderfully located right on the beach. Sun, sand and fresh Red sea-water is right outside your door. PS!! Bathshoes are a must, due to sharp rocks and corals. If you prefer the pools you have a few to choose from. We didn´t try them, but they looked lovely. The food was mostly great, seemed clean and well prepared, service was good and the egyptians are SO nice! Friendly and humourous. However, the vendors at the markets and bazaars can be extremely pushy. For us our stay at the Citadel was all we could have wished for. We had had a great, but busy week along the Nile, with excursions and outings every day. So the tranquility of the Citadel was just perfect for us. Be aware, however, that the resort is about 20 kilometres from the town of Hurghada, and you have to go by bus or taxi if you want to go anywhere outside the hotel-grounds. Having done so many different things and seen so much during week 1 we had no need to go anywhere outside of the hotel. We had the beach, good food, drinks, tennis-courts, gym, snorkeling, some shops, cafè, restaurants, different types of activities right there. We also recommend the snorkeling-trip to the coral-reefs around Giftun Island. We LOVED it at the Citadel Azur.

I and my husband have been to Azur for our honey moon, the hotel is amazing rooms are all sea view and very clean, resturant is very good, food is of high quality, service is also good, yet we didnt enjoy, the hotel has a wonderful swimming pool which i decided to enjoy my day in with my husband . i went with my hijab mayoo, all security officials tried over and over again to tell me that i cant use swimming pool with my hijab mayoo, but i insisted, saying that iam a five star guest and payed for that so i will enjoy my life the way i like. peaple in the reception said non conveincing words about hygenic reasons, but as we all know all what they say is not true because hijab mayoo is of the same fibre and cloth as bikini but we all know why, they dont like hijab mayo, yet i still did what i insisted on and enjoyed all my day in this wonderfull swimming pool with my hijab. I dont think i can go there again or advise a friend to go

We stayed at the Citadel Azur for 11 nights and had a lovely time. The location on the beach is fantastic with all rooms having sea views, this includes the main restaurant which is lovely for breakfast.

The hotel is not really visited by the Brits at present so you will find that it is full of Russians and Germans with a few other nationalities thrown in but also some Egyptian people were staying there. We only saw one other english party at the hotel during our stay. All staff seem to speak english and are usually delighted to hear that you are from England and treat you very well. The food does appear to be catered more to the Russian pallette but there is still quite a wide choice.

The room we had was huge and had everything you needed, the bathroom was great too and the cleaners did a great job.

The hotel does not appear to have thought about the pools much and is obviously concentrating on the fact that most people will go to the beach and snorkle etc. Although this is the case there are three pools but these are quite small and not very deep - lovely views from two of them.

The hotel is not suitable for those with any kind of walking difficulty and you are constantly walking up and down slopes or steps to get to restuarants etc. It is relatively new and there are a few matters that could be improved for example the lay out in the restaurant but I am sure that these matters will be addressed by the management. They are keen to hear any suggestions/comments you may have. We enjoyed eating in the Italian restaurant to get a break from the busy main restaurant.

The location of the hotel meant that we could not really go for a walk other than in the hotel grounds iteself but it was only a short ride to Hurghada if you wanted to venture a little further.

In all we had a lovely relaxing break which is just what we were looking for. We even got to see dolphins just off the beach at the hotel.

What a wonderful all-inclusive hotel. very clean hotel, friendly stuff, good food, and 100% sea view of all rooms. I stayed there 3 nights and they were the best 3 nights I stayed at a hotel ever. I recommend this hotel for everyone.

I liked the all-inclusive nature of the place. you can have everything cause you have already paid. Nice atmosphere. A bit loud and lousy entertainment, I had enough with el 3enab el 3enab song!

first time i went to egypt was Taba, movenpick, 2nd time Hurghada Citadel Azur, when i came back from taba, movenpick, i complained from having to go to the loo constantly ...thing is the water is not drinkable, so if you brush your teeth with tapwater you will most probably get diarrhea!! your travilguide will have told you that its ok to use but not to drink it!
TIP TIP :you get fresh water bottles everyday, so use those to brush your teeth with, better than having the toilet as ur best friend !!
in egypt there's some kind of bug that we europeans can't cope with in the water, normal anti - diarrhea pills we get in europe won't work, you need ones from an eyptian farmacy, don't cost much, but you will have to haggle for them! ask your hotel/dokter for a perscription and wat price they have to be ..so you don't get ripped off!!
u wil need 1 or 2 anti-biotic pills to get rid of the bug, then one pill to stop the diarrhea, and your peachy ! it will work right away if you still have trouble you take one more of each ...

about the hotel, because i hadn't been to egypt before, i thought it was quite unfinished and the bathroom was also finished by an idoit, paint splatters on the tiles and mirror ..
after going to hurghada this year, in may, i saw it was the same thing there too, i went to citadel Azur hotel, (completly made of coral, so beautiful!!) it's in on the top list of VIP hotels! this hotel's loads better than movenpick taba, but also the bathroom had paint splatter on the tiles and mirror, and made it look dirty, but hey, it was clean, cleaner than movenpick, the food was also better, and the staff were more competant, although egyptians don't say no, they will always nod yes!! even if they don't understand a word your saying haha! it's just not in their culture to say no, it's seems to be bad manners to them?!

GOLD ALL-INCLUSIVE HOTEL
free fitness, 1 free diving lesson, also free waterpipe smoking,
you also get one free massage of 40 min. (witin first 2 days of ur stay) take it! it's super! one free breakfast on the beach, and free wifi in your room if you have laptop.
there're many restrants to chose from, italien, fish, snack, BBQ, tea and cakes and the hotel restrant all exellent. food and drink available 24/24!!
TIP TIP taste the pizza in snack bar at the beach or in italien rest.
every evening live music outside terrace.
hotel is quite new, and cafe's and restrants trendy and romantic.

the thing that disturbed me was that the pool water in movenpick seemed to be clean although when you looked the tiles on the bottom were black !! coverd with algy.
-->the (3)pools from citadel were spotless,+ you also have three sea pools,
TIP TIP :movenp and citadel u will need swimming shoes !! you cant go without, buy them on a trip to a town or something and buy them there other wise u pay 3 or 4 times more! you can get a taxi to the hotel district there are lot's of shops and farmacy'sf or a few E pounds.
citadel hotel hurghada in the hotel they cost €10 ! and in the city hurghada €2 !!
in taba we went to farao island, to see the coral and fish, bit disapointing because you saw more at the hotel beach, and it was free! in the Citadel hotel you don't really need to go on a snorkelcruise with the boat, because you have so much to see right in front of you, you have the pear left and right sea lagoons were you can stand the fish swim around your ankels!yellow, blue, green, ... don't worry they don't touch/bite you, haha!
these lagoons are masked off with netting, and you can go over them go just a few meters and you see all colours of the rainbow of corals and fish, you then can go around were you see even more corals, here you can see much clearer, as if you are swimmin in a huge aquarium! it's breath taking!!!!
if you want to go on a trip to see some sites, they are very expensive,

TIP TIP: you can go to Hurghada as we did, that was €5 per person=cheap! for 4 hours of shopping!
beware of your handbag and the hassle of people on the street, don't buy anything from them, stay on the side were the banks are, there are police and security there, so you don't get hassled and only buy in the stores, and you have to haggle! they will come with outrageous prices, don't get put off, just say your price (much lower than you would buy in your own country) they will always say no too cheap, and go on about they need to feed there family, they always do this, if they don't meet your asking price walk out, and they will put their price right down to your asking price! and anyways, you can go to the next shop and say he said this much and you can get your price anyway!
make sure you have small euro coins or notes! don't let them change it for you, you will get ripped off! change in a money extange shop for the right extange, or in your hotel before you leave.
they will say they don't take coins but they do! euro's are worth more than american dollar's!! (€1=1.5$) even better is egytian pounds! because €1=7.8EP! and in shops they take only 7.5EP!

TIP TIP: we also went to Luxor on the bus it cost €80 per person=expensive! and your bus trip takes 4 to 5 hours and then back again, you lose a whole day, and your exausted,
TIP TIP: you will NEED a hat, because it's inland and the temperture goes up +10°c !!
save up your water bottles, because you will NEED them!! and if you buy them there=expensive!
TRIP IS WELL WORTH IT !
you will see temples and tombs, just beautiful, also you will see how the egyptian folk work and live, they are still 3rd world country and very poor, living in mudhouses ..you will see how they make real papirus(paper)! also on this trip you will have many chances to buy souvenirs, so you don't need to go on an extra trip for shopping! just remember that an egyptian earns €100 a month and €1 is a fortune for them! when you buy something make sure it's not broken and if a pair of something two are the same!!
also in this trip you get a boat trip on the nile!

the animation was a bit poor! but you did have a disco, but just for kids really, the animation in taba was better i must say, all in all lovely memories, and i would recommend this hotel, but beware of the russians the hotels are filled with them, and you will feel left out, because everything is in russian, make sure when u book a trip that it's in your language!!book your trip with your travelguide in your hotel, don't risk doing else were! nederlands or english, ...
TIP TIP: when you leave to the airpoort, take some drinks or food with you because the prices in the airpoort are outrageous!! €3 for a cola!
