lovely clean hotel the staff were very helpful and friendly. Not many english mainly russian and german but no problems with the usual pushing in and general ignorance which we were expecting after reading some of the reviews on here. The pool is enormous and beautiful the beach isn,t brilliant but its ok. Food plentiful but got a bit boring . If you need to use one don,t use chemist at hotel hes a robbing swine but there is a decent one 5 mins walk up the road. The entertainment was a bit naf but we have stayed in egypt before and it seems to be the norm

Stayed at the palace in July beautiful clean hotel brilliant friendly staff and good food with a good selection .We have stayed in quite a number of all inclusive hotels and this is a typical 4 to 4 star plus . Beach not too pretty and snorkling not what you would expect from the red sea but excursions are brilliant book them with hotel staff in the entertainment room or for sea trips the guys on the beach who also visit the active sides of the pool i found both were about 40% cheaper than the holiday reps prices I was a little apprehensive with some of the negative comments but found the palace to be the best hotel within the area would definitely go back compares with equivalent RUI and iberostar 4star plus great value for money

Big beautiful hotel very clean but offering a poor all inclusive option. The staff were generally excellent particularly Ahmed in the coffee bar, the food was plentiful but a bit samey however the whole holiday for us was ruined by the awful, awful drinks ; the wine pure anti freeze the spirits parafin oh and if you do drink them you'll be getting to know the inside of your toilet really well . Being a muslim country theres no chance of getting anything else and its a long long way to anything else so we drank the duty free for a week and then stayed sober!
What a shame...

Very big hotel with hundreds of rooms, nice egyptian (oriental) architecture, super clean, extrodinary service, very spacy pool-area, lots of amenities.
about 1/3 German, 1/3 Russian and 1/3 other nationalities
average age 35 to 50
Hotel was opened in August 2008 and it's still in excellent condition - you always see someone cleaning, maintaining or repairing things, so the whole place stays in shape.
We had booked an All-Inclusive vacation with a so called "Sea-view" room ... actually there is no designated "Sea-view" (since those rooms face the pool and then you see the ocean on the side) - it's either pool-area/ocean-view or street-view (or with windows to neighbouring hotels and buildings). I would highly recommend to book a "pool-view/ocean-view room, since it's much quieter, less windy and much more scenic when you walk on your balcony!
We had a room in the 3rd floor - only from there you can actuallly see the Red Sea!
The staff is always friendly and very helpful, in fact we became friends with some waiters and even exchanged email-addresses ...
Dont be stingy with tips - the people there deserve it since they work very hard for your convenience!

Just come home from a wonderful 2 week holiday at the Albatros Palace. 4 adults and 4 children age 9 up to 15.
Arrived about 10.30pm, check in was very quick and as one of the restaurants was open until midnight we managed to get someting to eat.
We tried all 6 restaurants during our stay wasn't too impressed with the Asian one but all the others were lovely.
There is a late breakfast (hot and cold) in the German restaurant until 11am.
The usual mad early morning rush for sunbeds, but I must admit we are used to that so hubby always got up early to sort them out and came back to bed!
The pools are fantastic, plenty of room around the sunbeds and the actual swimming pools are never crowded becausue they are so spacious.
The swim up bar is a nice novelty, but hubby did get ignored whilst waiting to be served...they don't ignore the females!! After giving them a small tip several times service improved and they even topped up your glass without asking!
One small complaint....drinks were never cold! Water was OK as this was kept in fridges and you can just help yourself to the bottles.
Shows in the evening were the usual ethnic dancing/magician etc. This was all repeated the second week so we didn't bother watching them the second time around.
They had a singer in the terrace bar every night, they would never win the X factor but we ended up singing along to "Take me home country roads" every night and it was good to have some live music in the background, we even danced a few evenings.
None of us were ill and for the first time in ages the children did not get ear infections from too much swimming.
My husband and daughters went scuba diving several times (they are qualified anyway), they used the man in the wooden hut just near the pontoon. He was really helpful and friendly, but my husband said he was probably not the best person to use if you do not know what you are doing!
Many people on here have said the the Spa people kept pestering them, this was the case for the first day or so, but after we politely said no thankyou, they left us alone.
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday, in amazing surroundings and would really love to go back...but First Choice seems to have dropped this hotel for next year....why?
I don't mind answering any questions if anyone has any.

We got back from Egypt this morning. We actually booked this holiday as our honeymoon, to which I regret slightly for different reasons. Mainly as many others in the hotel I was very poorly for the 1st week with a stomach virus. Not very romantic!! The chemist was great though (not the 1 in the hotel, they'll rip you off! go to the next one along!) Once I was given anti biotics I felt better within a day or two. I was just an unlucky one! My husband was fine and I feel it's kind of a hit and miss! The hotel is so clean! They never stop cleaning and maintaining the hotel.Reception were very helpful. Our cleaner was so lovely! We gave him a nice tip! speaking of tips, you seriously have to tip for everything! Let me warn you, anywhere outside of the hotel you HAVE to tip to use the toilet! (toilet was a hole in the ground in Cairo!)
I read on a previous review, don't trust Hassan the holiday rep! He was fine with us and helpful when questioned about things. As everyone else said the worst part of the holiday for us were the Germans and the Russians! My goodness they are so, so rude! Most of them DO push in and they stare and shout a lot! If you can get over this and behave in a similar way back to them you'l enjoy yourself more. However it's difficult to turn a blind eye sometimes!
First week we met about 3 different British families, the 2nd 1 family! that was it! We Brits are very much in the minority! The weather is lovely, pools look stunning. The pool bar is great (If you can push through the rude people!) The pontoon and the sea are really great! We spent most of our time there! The food is good for the first couple of days, but we did get bored quite quickly! and I was paranoid that the food was the reason I was poorly! Bar staff are great and will get to know what you drink very quickly! Night entertainment is cheesy, but we enjoyed it! We like stuff like that though!! We don't have kids but we spoke to a family at the airport who said the kids club was no good for their kids as the main language was German!
We flew to Cairo, very very enjoyable! I would say this trip is a must and very well organised! The tour guides knowledge was amazing! We went on a snorkling trip with a company at the hotel. It was ok, but again we were the only Brits on the whole boat out of about 30 people, so the guide spoke in German. We felt left out and a bit uncertain what was happening! Not very well organised! Although we spoke to other Brits who really enjoyed the trip. I think it's just down to personal preference.
It was a nice enough holiday, but very samey and we got quite bored towards the end. For us, I think a week would have been plenty. Glad we went, it was quite nice, but wouldn't go back again. not just to the hotel, but to Egypt as a whole! not our cup of tea really. I def wouldn't recommend here for a two week honeymoon! But if you're looking for a weeks holiday this would be a nice enough choice!

After having such a hectic first week we were looking forward to a relaxing week. Though the coach journey from Luxor to Hurgurda was 4 hrs it was worth it.

We were not to be disappointed. The hotel and the pool are absolutely stunning. The pictures just do not do it justice, the rooms and ensuites are immaculate and very comfortable.

We familiarised ourselves on the first day. There is a pool bar, a crepery and a food court which are open from 10am. At the side of the pool bar there is access for people to get water and ice creams, as many times as you want to.

There are 6 restauraunts in the hotel, a Tagine, Italian, Chinese, Mediterranean, German and a Mexican. You can go to any of them , you can even take your plate and have a mixture from each restauraunrt if you wanted to. The food is absolutely amazing, we loved the Chinese and the Italian, though there is also an Indian bit in the Chinese restaurant. The deserts are to die for and fruit and juice, water and alcoholic drinks are available all the time. Again Angie who was with us on this part of the holiday is celiac and the head chef Yasser went out of his way to make sure she had a special meal at all the restauraunts, he even made her a special pizza and some cornbread. Any dietry requirements they have no problems with, just speak to a chef in any of the restauraunts and they will sort it. They were amazing and very helpful and friendly. The Med is open till late as well so if you fancy a late dinner this is the place. The meals are prepared while you wait, ie stir frys and the pasta etc, but it is always well prepared and hot and very tasty.

We breakfasted in the med every day, it was lovely and again all coffee, juices and water were freely available. Snacks between meals are also available but the food court is handy for the pool so lots of people ate there. There is also a coffee bar, they make great lattes and cappucino’s and the staff are lovely.

The pool areas are so clean and the sunloungers are checked every morning for any damage and are changed. It says that you are not allowed to put the towels on the loungers but there were always towels on them when we went for breakfast so we did it too. Towels are to be handed in at the end of you time on your lounger and you can get clean ones at 7 am from the side of the pool area every morning.

You get people from the diving, spa, hair salon and manicure and pedicures coming round whilst you are sunbathing but we just said we had spent all out money on the tours on the first week so we were just chilling this week, they didn’t mind, but still came and spoke to us everyday.

You must take a walk to the sea and go snorkelling, they sell snorkel sets in the shop which is cheaper than hiring them off the beach, the pontoon goes out to the deeper part and the fish are amazing. They swim so close to you. We took some bread out with us so take an underwater camera because the fish come and eat the bread off you. It was amazing.

There are shops on the hotel complex they don’t hassel you as such, but like you to go in their shops. Some of them are very helpful and really nice. Ahmed in the jewellery shop is lovely. So is Ramsis in the papyrus shop.

We walked 3 miles to go to Senzo shopping mall, it is not like a bizarre it is like the Trafford centre, only smaller. And as expensive. We got a taxi back to the hotel but only use the blue and orange ones as they are licenced and agree a price before you get in. You can walk around out of the hotel complex and you will get a bit of hassel but be firm and say no or La. They will leave you alone.

There is no set rule for tipping here, you can tip as much or as little as you like, we tipped the young man who cleaned our room every day ( we told him he didn’t need to do it one day and he looked so upset we had to relent) 2 of the waiters who we had a laugh with and who were very nice with us and the coffee bar man he made us coffee at 7 am as we were readying for our return journey home, he didn’t open till 9 but made us some anyway, bless him.

Another pit fall is that there are hardly any English people there. They are more or less Dutch and Russian. A few were nice but we tried every morning to say good morning to them and we got a scowl back in returm, some of them are not very nice, they are rude and have no manners. They will push in front of you so be aware and make them move back. Not all of them were like this, there was the odd one or 2 that did smile or say good morning.

All in all a fantastic end to a fantastic holiday. I think next time we will fly to the hotel and split it so we spend so many days in the hotel, then 7 nights on the cruise and the go back to finish off the holiday at the hotel. You might think it’s a bit too much packing and unpacking, but because the first week on the nile was so hectic, you would think we would have been grateful fot the relaxing time we should have had, but the truth was although the hotel was absolutely gorgeous, we were spolied with the boat. We got fed up with sunbathing. But if you like sunbathing then this is the place to do it at. You have everything on hand that you could possibly need in a beautiful and well cared for environment.

100% reccommended.
