We went to supposedly The Dana Beach hotel, which is a Pick Albatros group hotel, we have been a few times for the last four years and love it's exclusivity, which Is what we pay extra for. We arrived at the Dana Beach to be told It was shut!!! and we were being tansfered to another hotel, ( We had to pay for taxi transfer!!)..When we arrived at the Palace, the reception is very dark and un-welcoming, we had paid for a sea view room, we got what I can oniy describe as a monks cell.
The corridor to the hotel room was like a set of The Green Mile, you couldn't sit on your TINY balcony and have privacy, because there was no partition from you and your neighbours, so It was like a communal balcony.
The service was appalling, the chamber boy hadn't left any toilet roll one day ,It tokk four hours to get some, In the end I went to a pool loo and took some from there.
I am so disappointed, because the day before we flew we rang our travel company, who lied through their back teeth and told me The Dana Beach was open. I'm not mentioning the name of the company, as we are going to go through the small claims and sue them for the price of my holiday!!!
We work hard for our money, so deserve better treatment than this!!!
If you do go to Egypt, becareful, It Is an ugly mood on the streets, and they are ripping

I went with my boyfriend and his and my best friend for a week in July 2010 and we had a lovely holiday, the food was good every night and there were plenty of different restaurants within the complex to choose from, the pools were amazing, staff were friendly and couldnt do enough for us, we went on a day trip to mahmia island and it was amazing, snorkeling in the middle of the sea around all the corals etc, was a fantastic day out, one of the best holidays i have been on, only complaint was the RUDE germans and russians, hated them!

Have just returned from a week at this hotel and cannot fault it. Food was fabulous, as was the location and facilities. Don't go here, however, if you want English company as the hotel is dominated by Germans, Russians, and Eastern Europeans. We were on honeymoon so it suited us very well!

We stayed here over new year and what a great night we had thanks to the lovely staff and manager. From our arrival to departure the food was amazing with a huge selection every day, the hotel was immaculate with friendly staff and a brilliant manager. We had a great holiday and look forward to seeing you all next year. The weather was beautiful too. Definately deserves the five star rating!!!!!!!

myself and husband and father have just returned from albatros palace hotel. first i would like say the hotel was so lovely and very clean. rooms great, cleaning staff great to. the food was exellent as so much choice. and the weather in winter months could not be better. location not great as you need taxi to town centre, i only left hotel twice once to do luxor trip for day which was good and once to see hurgarda town centre, but we only seen one street as we were sick of locals trying to get us in every shop we pasted. so be carefull were you go. we were that feed up we had to get taxi back to hotel for some peace. one thing that spoiled my holiday which people should be aware of is as soon as we got there the staff at reception told us there had been a problem with bookings and we would have to spend 2 nights in a hotel over the road which was not as nice as the palace. it was called albatros beach garden resort. i just could not believe this had happened to us after paying for this hotel. i thought this had only happened to us but after a few days of speaking to other people english people two other couples had been moved to over the road same as us. i do not think this is good for the hotel at all. apart from that i could not fault the hotel at all. the swim up bar was one of the reasons we booked this hotel as we love them. farook the bar man swim up bar is the best at the hotel. well i think thats about all.
