Cleanliness: In my opinion it's totally clean, say no more. Of course the beach gets the odd bit of litter washed up but it's tidied up quickly. There are two lovely dogs that live on the beach and they are just as clean although speaking of animals or insects to be exact, take plenty of fly spray since they are in abundance, especially on the beach

Location: The best spot in Dahab, for us at least. Free shuttle bus into town if you want to get into town but although artificial, the beach is far superior to anywhere else along that part of the coast for sunbathing. A large spit also protects the bay from currents so the sea, although very salty of course, is very calm so perfect for a midday dip and snorkelling. Situated at the far end of the stretch of hotels on the lagoon, the hotel receives no passers-by like the other hotels such as the Swiss Inn and Hilton

Room + : plenty of light; great views; large and comfortable king-sized bed; clean and functional bathroom; ample storage; sofa bed; enough mod cons (TV, hairdryer, safe, fridge/mini bar, aircon/fan)

Room - : could do with a couple more electricity points, that's all. Nothing to beef about

Service + : everyone is inherently friendly, we couldn't have asked for them to have been more polite. Room service was discreet and very efficient with an impressive turndown service, something I hadn't expected given the price bracket of the hotel

Service - : it's a real shame but for me was what held the hotel back from getting a 'excellent' rating. I think it related to the hotel's revenue model rather than individuals; from the moment you arrive you are constantly reminded that there is a rift between the great deal that you landed on Expedia and the wonderful facilities that you receive. The waiters (some more than others) relentlessly give the hard sell for drinks every evening, white wine in particular. They even started touting at breakfast for the following evening. Drink prices seemed steep; 1 litre bottle of coke = equiv. 7 GBP; average house white = 25 GBP. Mineral water more reasonable at 2 GBP per 2 litres but significantly cheaper from the local supermarket in Dahab, although hotel rules stipulate that it is strictly forbidden to bring food or drink on to the premises and there are guards on the door so try at your own risk. Most annoyingly, there is a large sign on the beach bar saying 'Happy Hour 5-6pm. Two beers (and other house drinks I recall) for the price of one' but at the bar and reception they claim the deal has finished. Despite querying a number of times the sign stayed in place

Value: Excellent. Although as I've outlined above, just watch what you stick on the tab because if you don't, you might get a nasty surprise when you check out as it will inevitably add up

Sleep quality: Perfection. Although I wouldn't want to overlook the amphitheatre or be too close to the bar although any noise or entertainment seemed to dissipate by 10pm at the very latest. I would imagine that would be a bit later in high season

Diving: Wonderful little school run by a fantastic lady called Anushka. All staff speak German as their first language with perfect English. On the whole, in March the guests were predominantly inactive so at times it was tricky for the school to get a party together although they take the jeep out with as few as two guests. BCDs and wetsuits were brand new and the equipment was cared for impeccably. If you don't bring your own kit and have to hire everything, count on spending 50 EUR per dive, over four dives. It gets cheaper if you do more. Night dives and early morning excursions arranged, mostly shore diving in this area

Transfers: The hotel quoted me an extortionate amount for return transfers to SSH airport. I discovered www.dahab-info.com which offered the going rate of 30 EUR each way and arranged very professionally by Simona. That said, the taxi arrived one hour late on arrival, 20 minutes late on departure. On the return trip the driver was unable to identify himself and tried to offload us into a smaller minicab five minutes from the hotel. We declined, called the office and told him to drive us in his van. I would recommend shopping around and booking before you go but not spending above the odds. 70 EUR each way is far too much

Entertainment: on this holiday all we wanted to do was relax but there is no end of activities during the day. for the evenings. there are plenty of lovely watering holes and restaurants in the town to choose from. The hotel has good bars with the usual easy-listening English singer/keyboard performer. There is also a bedouin tent on the beach although we never visited it

Our first time in Egypt and didn't know what to expect.. The only down side of the holiday was Sharm El Sheikh Airport. Something akin to a cattle market. That aside, the transfer to the hotel was easy and took about 1 hour. We were welcomed at the hotel with a complimentary drink, our suitcases were taken to our room, and the whole check in process only took 20 minutes. Our room overlooked the pool and was superb. The room was spotless, including a security safe ( free of charge ), very comfortable beds, TV, air conditioning and fridge. Our room cleaner made sure that we were satisfied with everything and changed our towels every day, and kept us entertained with his towel sculptures. The hotel as a whole was one of the best we have ever stayed in. The thing that made the holiday so special was all the hotel staff without exception. They are so friendly and go the extra mile to ensure that you have a good holiday. We have made some great friends, especially from the Animation Team, including Momo, Lisa, Messi and Mario who we will definately keep in touch with. Breakfast and evening meal were served in the main restaurant, while the lunch was served in the Sea Pearl restaurant. The food was excellent and catered for everyone, even the fussiest could not fault the range of meals supplied. To avoid any stomach upset, the hotel replenishes your complimentary water bottle at all the restaurants and bars with filtered water. The pool was never noisy or crowded and was very clean and warm to swim in. The beach was clean, sandy and swimming/ snorkelling was a delight. Don't bother bringing beach towels as they are provided and changed every day if you wish. You can go windsurfing provided you stay out of the marked safe areas for the swimmers. A MUST is the local glass bottom boat trip over the coral reefs. For £7 per person, you get a speed boat transfer to the glass bottom boat, and a 90 minute trip of a life time. This includes snorkelling off the boat around the coral. Its like swimming in a tropical fish tank with a huge variety of coloufrul fish to see. There are excursions if you wish, but to be honest, we were so happy relaxing around the pool or on the beach, we didn't feel the need.
Our Thomson Rep Islam, was always on hand in the afternoon or evening to help or advise, and we cannot praise him enough. Another friend on my facebook list!!!!!
We are now in the process of booking up again, why spend 10 hours flying to the carribean, when you have got georgious Egypt on your doorstep. Don't bother taking travellers checks as the hotel cannot change them for you. Take Euros/ Egyptian Pounds or Sterling and a credit card. All are locally accepted. All in all, the best holiday we have ever had and would thoroughly recommend it. Can't wait to go back next year.

Just returned from a wonderful week in Dahab in the Sinai. We returned after 18 years and the Sinai has certainly changed. Back then, a bonefide flaming haired red head received a lot of unwelcome attention, molestations and constant staring. I caught a member of the hotel staff going through my underwear drawer back then. Nothing like that now though

Now the young chaps are courteous and almost in the 21st century (almost) and you can have a very pleasant and ordinary conversation without fearing the immortal line "my brother has a shop!". Most locals have studied and travelled abroad so are not sent into anaphlaxis when a blond passes by in a short skirt.. It does help to dress modestly though in order to respect customs. The place was lacking in the hassle you get elsewhere in Egypt nowadays and it was absolutely a pleasure to chat to the locals normally, you know, without an angle? Not saying all, but most. You never saw any women hardly at all - I thought Egypt was much more modern than that! .

Saudi Arabia was just across the bay, so I waved my boobs at them, made rude gestures and swung my long red hair about lots. I bet they have mega telephoto lenses trained on the beaches.

So to the hotel. It was lovely, much more intimate than the Hilton which looked nice, but abandoned!

We had a fantastic time at this hotel and I was sincerely sad to leave.

I thought the food was wondereful - I know some guests we spoke to didn't - but much of it seemed based on Lebanese which is my favourite food. The room was great - but the bed was so very hard - please not so hard next time! We looked over the beach and had our own porch which was fun. Security is very tight. don't forget your arm band and key (best to leave at reception) otherwise the welcome is frosty from the guard. No doubt he has a reason. I think what really makes it though is the staff. I have travelled extensively over our globe and I've rarely been in a hotel where the staff are so wonderfully accommodating, but in such a friendy way. I'm sure some bourjousie may well sniff with distaste at their friendly manner, but I thought it was great. I felt totally pampered from the minute I stepped in there.

I would say the only slight downside for us,was the location and people - bud it depends alot on what you want. As we are two childless middle aged old hippies (brain wants one thing, eg, skanky hostel in town but at our age body needs aircon).

We found the people in the hotel rather dull, very straight and ordinary. Another downside - do you go hear if you are averse to children. , with the exception of an Army Major and his friend on a diving trip with their wifes, nobody else really pushed our buttons, Sadly this was a double whammy holiday curse. Couples on hols with friends. Next time we will staay in Mesbat - it is just way cooler. Sorry!.

.Pool is jummy and warm and very large. There is a team there to encourage to get up and play volley ball and do aqua aerobics. You get used to the Activation team running around the hotel loudly encouraging teh activites which are then undertaken at the pool with loud music. I don't really mind though. As a Public Health Dietetin I approved wholeheartedly of prodding the morbidly obese Brits, of which there were many, to take a little activity

So great for young couples with/without children who are still at the smootchy stage. Good for older, retired people (every is in bed by 11pm it seems to me.

OUr boat trip people on the upper deck were very cool (and a birthday girl on lower deck also very cool). They were all windsurfers taking a trip as no wind that day. The boat we were promisd came at slightly before normal Egyptian time, but it was a fine vessel and took us to far off reefa

We would normally avoid using the hotels tour guide people but we researched this and the guys on the beachm (red jackets I think) give great prices and will haggle.

Dahabeya hotel - if you made your beach bar which was dug into the sand and had big cushions and rugs, a la the Bedouin, I'd definitely come back and it would create a great place to meet new people. Put a guitar out for jamming sessions. REally though, the staff made it. Best service ever (except a swanky place I wnet to in St. Lucia)

Message to Dahabeya: free wi fi please! It was very expensive to buy your cards. Everywhere is free wifi now, even the cafes and restaurants in Dahab. Come on guys! Get with the programme!

spent two weeks here and nothing is too much trouble for the staff or management, well kept gardens, pool, beach fantastic animation team very hard working both day and evening. A tour on the Thomson Red Sea VIP boat is the best you will find, also the full day Quads, Camels and evening Cabaret outside under the stars are well worth the money. We would have no doubts in our mind to return to this fantastic resort.

The hotel is about 1 hour from Sharm and Dahab itself wasn't particularly nice but if you are looking for a peaceful break then this is the place, the hotel was wonderful, the staff were really friendly - cleaners, animation, waiters, bar etc. all of them, extremely clean and with wonderful private beach. The food is good and the clientele is largely adults / couples. The beach is fabulous

We were not really sure what to expect not having been to Egypt before, but we were extremely pleased with this holiday. We had an absolutely wonderful time here at the Iberotel Dahabeya- Thanks to everyone at the hotel for helping make this a lovely holiday. Hope to be back soon.

There was not one thing that we could fault about this hotel, the staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful, a real credit to the hotel, the food was wonderful, with a great range every day which seemed to get better each day.

This hotel is quite small, with only 144 or so rooms, which made it even better, it was not crowded at all and you could always find a sun lounger where you wanted one around the pool or on the beach. Our room was big and airy and well decorated overlooking the pool. The standard of the rooms is very good and the whole place is kept spotlessly clean. Every day they did really cool stuff with the towels and net curtains in our room.

This was a perfect holiday for us, as we were both just looking to chill out and do basically nothing apart from soak up some winter sunshine and do a bit of snorkeling.

We would highly recommend this hotel if you looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday..

We only have one criticism of our holiday in Egypt, Sharm el Sheikh Airport should be re-named Sharm el Shambles, be warned, the worst holiday airport we have every been too.
