We stayed here for a week in late September 2013. My wife and I were here for a relaxing week and our son for the scuba diving - he was doing his PADI Open Water course. The hotel was very quiet, suffering from a lack of guests because of the riots hundreds of miles away in Cairo and Alexandria! This clearly affected things - cut down entertainment, very limited animation activities and reduced food options. However, despite the problems all staff were attentive, cheerful and courteous. Food was very good and plentiful with a fair amount of choice. The hotel is in a lovely setting and the beach is sandy and clean. There is not much in the way of a reef for snorkelling but just outside the cordoned area there was an array of fish that would follow you around. This was one disappointment for me since last year we had been at Taba Heights where there was a fabulous reef directly accessed from the beach. My wife preferred this to Taba since she does not go out of here depth.
Warning, just outside the hotel on the left hand side is a predatory perfume salesman, after being caught once we were careful to check that he was not on patrol when we left the hotel. We did go into Dahab on the hotel bus but, presumably because of the few visitors we were targeted by all the shopkeepers and restaurateurs - we did not go back! Our son did go into Dahab on a few occasions with the diving school staff and really enjoyed it.
The attached Diving Ocean diving school was excellent and I would really recommend it based upon our son's experience.
Entertainment was, as I mentioned, limited, but the Egyptian Spinning man was there, a mediocre belly dancer, a talented guitarist and singer (better when he didn't sing!) and a passable female vocalist.
Lovely pool and poolside bar, nice friendly beach bar, friendly waiters in the restaurant and helpful reception/concierge. On our trip to Dahab the return bus did not appear, we caught a taxi and reception gave us the taxi fare that we had paid.
We would all go back and probably will. Other guests we spoke to were there for the 5th or 6th time, and one couple for the 3rd time this year.
