I love this little gem at the coastal town of Dahab, perhaps the only nice and relaxed place along the Egyptian coast not overrun by mega-resorts and an endless stream of don't-care travellers.
The town is famous for it's incredible diving (mostly macro-life but we had the honor of meeting a 7 meter Whaleshark under water!) and the amazing Sinai desert in the backyard.
The hotel has incredibly friendly staff (even to Dahab standards which is a very friendly place in itself), very helpfull and the place has a nice architecture that makes you really feel far from home but comfortable too. As stated before, the rooms are somewhat small, we used two coupled ones for our young family which was defintely okay. With bigger rooms I would have given this hotel a 5/5 without a thought.
The location is great, just off the main part of the boulevard so it's not as hectic while with a few minutes walk you are in the middle of dozens of nice restaurants and shops. The boulevard is really an amazing place, especially at night. Hard not to love!
The restaurant offers definitely some of the highest quality food in town. Very well prepared (possibly the only good steak I ever had in Egypt) and normal portions too (I hate finishing with a full plate). It's slightly more expensive but quality-wise it's a good deal.
The swimming pool next to the boulevard is another great feature and is usually nicely busy in the afternoon when all divers have returned to the hotel. Pool-food and drink prices are very good by the way, somtimes even half of what you pay in the Laguna-resorts and of way better quality!
The diveschool is considered to be among the best in town and their guides have been absolutely great. In my three trips to Dahab I've never seen so much new species of macro life. There's more than enough room to move around and they try to do a very nice section of all divesites.
In if you can spend some time away from the diving, make sure to spend a night in the open Sinai desert with the guides from the hotel. It's an amazing experience to sleep under a million star blanket. We did it with young children (aged 2 and 3) and it was not a problem (they loved the adventure!).
All in all, after staying in three different Dahab hotels over the past years this will be my future choice.
