“PERFECTION ON THE EDGE OF THE RED SEA”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

It can't get more relaxing than just being in Dahab can it? Yes it can if you spend the sunlit hours at Fresh Fish. This open air restaurant is perfect whether you want to lay by the side of the sea or settle at a comfortable table a few feet away. There is an excellent chef/owner and a busy but relaxed waiter who has a smile fr everyone and never misses the slightest sign that you need attention. Mums and kids are a feature of the clientele and the waiter often assists the improvised play but rarely do noise levels rise to a distracting level. There is often laughter in the background and customers are friendly towards each other. There is no pressure to buy though most people recognize that the place has to sell drinks and food to survive. There is an extensive breakfast and drinks menu - including some spiced tea that is out of this world. Omelets are excellent but the hidden treasure on the menu is the fried calamari which is tender enough to bite through having been marinaded in lemon juice, red pepper and spices that make it best you are likely to taste anywhere. There are children's play things and snorkeling gear for hire by the day at very low prices. I've been writing contentedly there every day for the last month with no problems and seen many regulars spend most of their time there.

“Swimming/Snorkelling in Dahab”
Reviewed February 5, 2012

For those of you who visit Dahab just for sun, relaxation and the friendly chill and are not particularly motivated by learning to dive then I would recommend the Fresh Fish Restaurant for breakfast, lunch, mango juices, cute kittens, friendly waiter and terrific location.

We generally had our breakfast there (up to 12 noon); particularly liked the Egyptian breakfast which has falaffel, tahini, some scrambled egg, bread, cucumber/tomato garnish and a bit of lovely salty white cheese. Also crispy fried bread which is pitta deep fried, yes, the cats did eat that as well!

After the food over to the sunbeds for relaxing, reading, people watching .... really I didn't begin reading books until day 3. I bought a snorkel/mask for 35 Egyptian pounds (less than £4) at a supermarket in the old market/souk and had fun. Mostly I saw divers on the ocean bed but depending on how adventurous you are you can swim further and hopefully see more. Friendly place; lots of young children selling bracelets so be prepared for the daily rounds of 'buy one' .... A friend I met there always said 'I will buy one at the full moon'!

If you stay at the Dahab Plaza Hotel then breakfast here is free. Oh, location, ... walk down the Corniche as if walking to the Lighthouse area and it is almost at the end on the right hand side after Yalla and Buddha Bar. It is opposite an orange facade internet shop I think.

“Lovely spot and good value food”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Fresh Fish has a lovely spot on the waters edge with loungers with easy access to the water. The food is basic, but good value and very tasty. A great place to spend an afternoon, relaxing and eating good quality food.

“Surprised to be the first to review!”
Reviewed January 17, 2011

Fresh Fish is a really good wee spot on the beach. We went to it as it's one of the restaurants you can take your free breakfast at when you stay in the Dahab Plaza (the other is Same Same). We ate most times at Same Same since it's much closer to the hotel, but Fresh Fish is right on the beach so you can lie on a subbed after breakfast! Charming, friendly staff and good food (I ate some lovely scrambled eggs for breakfast and a yummy tuna pizza for lunch).
