We visited Dahab 2 years ago and ate at Ali Baba’s with friends we met while out there. The first experience was great. Great food, great staff, great location. It was these memories that tempted us back for a second visit.
When looking over the menu you are promised a great meal with starters, bread, dips and deserts all chucked in for free.
The service was just as great as we remember – we didn’t feel rushed but we didn’t feel like we were waiting around either.
The meal started with a small toast canapé each, followed by some hot breads and delicious dips. They were so delicious we asked for another one each and more dips!
Our mains were nice, but Im sad to say they weren’t anything to rave about. I had a spicy hot and fiery chicken dish which wasn’t that spicy and one bit of chicken was lovely and tender, the other was very tough.
After the mains we were given strawberry sorbet for desert which was very nice.
They don’t serve alcohol but they encourage you to take your own in and will quite happily open and pour it for you.
The restaurant is right on the waterfront and its really lovely sitting outside in the candlelight looking over the sea. If you look carefully you can often see Lionfish close to the surface as they are attracted to the lights. We also saw a couple of fish jumping out the water a few yards out.
If we ever go back to Dahab, we will try somewhere different next time but make no mistake, this is a nice place. Its great value, the staff are friendly, efficient and, like a lot of places in Egypt, provide a service that puts most places in England to shame. Despite the mains not quite being what we hoped, we still had a very nice dining experience.
