I stayed at Red Sea Relax in October 2010 so please read my feedback from then. How anyone can slate the hotel or the Dive Centre is beyond me! If you want to stay at an up market Hotel like one that rhymes with Stilton, then stay there and spend US$150 a night. If you want to stay somewhere where the rooms are very clean and tidy with the food being excellent and the beer EG pounds 10 per bottle then stay at RSR. The receptionist Osama, Said and Abdul are brilliant and take all the hassle out of staying in a hotel in a town where everyone wants to fleece you because of your nationality. Through them I was able to purchase apples, check the availability of an 8GB memory stick and USB extension lead to back up my underwater digital photos. All this was done very easily with no hassle whatsoever. Again, like last year I only ate at RRR where food is excellent I haven’t suffered any gut problems whatsoever. I cannot say this about people who ate elsewhere!!!
Any derogatory remarks about the Dive Centre are hurtful to me, and an insult to the Dive Centre where all the staff are in a professional (putting safety high on the list, but surely this is what PADI is all about), knowledgeable about the dive sites and the fauna and flora one is likely to see. Paul is a good Manager, and the Instructors (Sophia his wife, John, Ahmed/Nu Nu) are brilliant as are the temporary daily instructors Rose, Said and Karim. John has a degree in film making so if you are interested in advancing your digital underwater imaging (which I was doing in October 2011) I can honestly think of no better Instructor! He has his own Canon compact digital camera so was very well tuned in to my relatively cheap and cheerful Fuji F80EXR. In addition to lending me a very good book on Underwater Digital Photography, showing me in practice how to take good underwater digital images and back up the camera memory card, he also had the kindness/decency to show me the capabilities/functionalities of Photoshop and where to buy it in UK.
So all in all, to anyone who is reading this Trip Advisor review, I would urge you to stay at RSR and to dive at their Dive Centre. I had the same discounts that I was given in 2010. I know I am not alone when saying I shall be back as I met numerous other visitors who also said they would be returning at Christmas or in 12 months.
