Best restaurant in town. The service was great, the experience of ordering directly from the kitchen--wonderful and the food outstanding. This would be your special occasion place as it was a bit pricey but worth every cent. As a family who is gluten and dairy-free--the staff went out of the way to make our experience one to remember. Would go back in a heartbeat.

We visit Avalon every summer with a large crowd. We visited Sea Grill earlier this week and we had a very unpleasant experience. This restaurant appears to pride itself on direct interaction with the chef and kitchen staff- to order your meal. Big Mistake. When we went up to order, the chef's "team" were young kids, completely distracted and barely paying attention to us, laughing at each other (and us?),and generally rude. The payoff- our orders were prepared incorrectly, no surprise since they were not really paying attention. Then, the server disappeared for large stretches of time. The food here was overpriced(al a carte) and quality just ok, but the evening was essentially ruined by our experience with the amatuerish kitchen staff. Never again. And we were not the only ones who noticed.
Note to Sea Grill- Lose the gimmick -or replace your chef and his team with professionals that knows how to deal with guests.

We have always enjoyed this place but lets face it expensive is an understatement. The food is fine nothing great. I ordered the lobster three tails for $52.00. My husband and I never really talk about price. We spend alot of time in nyc and Delray Beach and we live in Bryn Mawr so we are used to spending on dinners. This is a bit over the top. I must say the wait staff is tops.

Very crowded on a busy summer night. So crowded that you will be bumping into people left and right, and good luck trying to maneuver yourself though the bar area because it is always jam packed, especially on the weekends. You have to order your food in the back at a kitchen window which is different but slightly odd and inconvenient due to the salad bar being located right next to it. The food is actually very good, and Its a decent place to go if you can deal with the mayhem

Hour & a half wait - for what? First off, they have a very unusual setting. In order to get your food, you must go up to the chef's window and order it yourself so not only do you get food - but you get a job! It was very unusual. I would expect to do this at McDonald's or a casual crab house. But when the list is Filet Mignon, duck, etc..?! However, our food was served by a waitress (thank god) who was the sweetest woman ever!

Ambience: NOT romantic. VERY VERY loud! Since the restaurant is small, you can hear the bar crowd and the overbearing buzz of too many people in a tight area. Unusually dark and "eclectic" design of restaurant.

Food: Filet mignon was tender. Delicious and reasonable. We had an 8 oz for 24 dollars which is very rare to find especially at the Jersey shore.

Go here for a lunch or early dinner - you might be able to skip the noisy atmosphere. But be prepared about how unusual it might to place your own order.
