Went to the Avalon Family Grille with our 4 kids just before closing time. When that's happened at other places, we've sometimes been looked at as if we were bringing the plague. The staff here welcomed us in and couldn't have been nicer. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Kids loved the french onion soup, and the chicken quesadillas were unusually good (everyone stole bites from my son.) Fortunately, the portions were very big, so there was plenty to go around. My oldest daughter enjoyed her salad, though felt there was a little too much cheese. My wife, who is very picky about her crab cakes (grew up in Maryland and hasn't recovered), really liked AFG's rendition. My flounder was fresh and fine, and my other daughter's roast turkey performed as promised. They served us warm bread which was also a hit.
Between the very reasonable prices, the good tasting food, and the exceptional service, it's a great choice for casual family dining in Avalon. One more note- they are under new ownership, so I wouldn't pay much attention to reviews from 2011 and before.
