“They spiffed this place up and killed the atmosphere?”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Okay so it was a Monday night but it is mid July/Shore season! The facelift is very trendy and cool but there is ambience. At 10 the place was dead. At 11 it was closing! This used to be THE place for a fun night out mid week. The hotel had vacancies but was still charging $400/night plus. Could that we why is was so quiet? Ach...was one of my favorites in the past. Hope it starts hopping again soon. The waitstaff and bar tenders were great tho!

“Ennnh!”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Been going here for years, and it's changed a lot - not necessarily for the better.... wanted a quick something something - went to the 2nd level........................realllllllly, noisy! Great view of the ocean, but with the windows closed due to July monsoons, couldn't hear the person right next to me without shouting - yuk! Shared the lobster pizza based on waitress's recommendation...don't bother - couldn't find the lobster with a magnifying glass, crust was doughy, and come on; - canned mushrooms for a medium size $25 pizza....again, don't bother. Back downstairs to our old hangout - The Beach Bar - bartender (female and older?!) was great, didn't know how to make our drink which was on the specialty menu, but she was game and we gave her instructions based on previous experiences. The band was mediocre at best, and I totally don't get the placement of the dance floor since the renovations, right at the entrance so people coming in walk through the dancers - I mean - what were they thinking.... may go back to see old friends, but won't be eating there again -

“Dinner experience Wonderful”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

I had dinner at the Windrift and had their Monday Night Special of Prime Rib. The portions were extremely generous and prepared to perfection! All for only 21.95. Definitely worth the trip.

“Better than average shore restaurant for lunch”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Can't speak for dinner, but the lunches here are great. I am addicted to their chopped salad. The burgers are good and the bar is well stocked with decent beer and wine. The view is terrific and the service is very competent.

“Premium prices for Subpar Food in Main Dining Room”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

We have been frequent diners in the main dining room for years. Most seasons the food has been just ok; the last two the quality and taste greatly improved. Last weekend my family and I were diners. Two had the "house recipe, hand breaded" crab cakes for $33 apiece. I was suspicious of this claim when I saw how small and uniform in size they were. They had absolutely zero taste and little crab. I found them close in quality, texture, and size to those I've had from the local supermarket. Garlic mashed potatoes on the side were equally bland but edible, string beans were overly buttery, the service was prompt but annoying.

We should have sent the food back but didn't, big mistake. I called to complain and got a hostess who argued about the crab cakes.
