One of the best places I've found in my travels this year was the El Faro Ecolodge on the beach in Salinas. Just 3 blocks off the main road
This amazing "jungle-like" lodge has cockatiels and large blue parrots. Chickens, peacocks and turtles roam freely and monkeys come right down to your table.
Plants and flowers line the walk way which takes you to a scenic overlook near the beach. Below is a bar where you can have a beer and talk with your friends or climb the stairs to get a panoramic view. Stone steps lead down to the beach below.
Inside the hotel, the rooms have furniture made from tree limbs twisted into various shapes. The rustic design extends to the closet and bathroom, the shelves, mirror frames and the headboard. The rooms are clean and comfortable with cold air, hot showers, wy-fy and a staff of friendly people. It was a nice place to relax. I'll certainly be going back in the future.

Hi

just thought i'd let you all know about a great little hotel in Salinas, in Ecuador. Its called El Faro and its has lots of birds and animals for kids. My son is 4 and he loved it. He got to feed the peacocks wandering around and the treat of the trip was when he got to feed the monkeys. They are really quite tame and came to him easily and even took food from his hand and climbed on his back. They are tiny monkeys, not sure of the exact species, but he was enchanted with them.
The hotel is fine, clean and big rooms, its not your multinational chain, just a friendly guy (english and spanish speaker) and there are also toucans and parrots too around. Its just a tiny bit out from Salinas (2$ taxi fare) but that makes it nice and quieter.

Anyway, just thought i'd spread the good word, if you have kids and they like monkeys, i recommend a stay for a couple of nights. (prices reasonable too).
