We had a dream to go to the Galapagos and we did it, but we never thought we would be staying in a wonderful place like the Finch Bay Hotel. We stayed 3 nights and 1 tour to North Seymour on a Monday best experience in our life. The guide Valentino perfect gentleman very knowlegeable. Everyone at the Finch Bay Hotel staff including Pepe were really excellent always with a smile willing to help you, specially Carlos, he was the first one to greet us with a nice friendly smile, and the food was so delicious it was incredible. we never had this kind of food before. Also can't forget Victor, he was the one that arrange our trip to the Galapagos and made it easy for us to enjoy and have our dream come true. We will be back to enjoy the rest of the Island and to the Finch Bay Hotel. Once again Thanks for a wonderful experience which we will not forget.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice with a hammock just outside the door.

Finch Bay is a far cry from large upscale resort hotels. It may not have large atriums or even televisions but it does provide a little bit of heaven. A truly relaxing experience where guests are valued and spoilt.
It provides a great shore based alternative to boats and although it would not rate 5 stars in many cities, swinging in your own personal hammock looking out to sea from one of the Ocean View rooms is hard to beat and worth 5 stars
Food and trips were good although the journey from north to south can be a bit tedious. All of the day trips we did went from the North so we did the journey 5 times in 5 days.
We spent one day diving which is recommended

We had the best experience at Finch Bay! It was truly pitch perfect - the excursions (amazing), the guides (Mario and Soto were super knowledgeable and fun), the food (delicious gourmet) , the rooms (big, comfortable, clean) and the hotel staff (perfect amount of attentive and personable - especially Carlos, Cesar, Pepe). My family decided this was the best family vacation yet. We are so happy to have chosen Finch Bay vs a boat. Highly, highly recommend.

Room Tip: We had a Ocean Room room and while I doubt there is a bad room, we thought it was worth the extra mo...

I was already feeling blissful after spending the previous 5 days on a meditation retreat on the island. And this was the perfect spot to spend my last night, relaxing under the stars in my personal hammock on the patio of my room. That's the type of place this is - very casual and relaxed with all the extra touches you might not even consider. They also had a natural plug-in scent for the rooms to repel insects - it was the subtleties I caught. On a more broad front, it's hard to ignore that the prime (and only spot nearby) for beach access was directly in front of the property. This is where I'd spent every dawn meditating and it was even better when I was just steps from my little oasis. Breakfast was included with my rate and served an excellent selection of traditional (for Americans) breakfast as well as some local options. The fresh juices were incredible, yummy omelette station, pastries, phenomenal bacon (and I'm very particular about my bacon!!) and a welcome drink when I first arrived. A fabulous location to be in a serene spot in the Galápagos. Note: you do need to take a quick ferry ride to the mainland from this spot. The resort has its own dedicated complimentary boat service which is ideal :-) Chances are, you'll be doing lot of exploring while I this trip, so you may spend much time on site at the property - that said, it's a super relaxing spot to head back to after a long day of hanging out with sea lions and iguanas!!

After a week cruising the Galapagos Islands, we were so happy to hav a couple of quiet days in the Islands. Special, different kind of place. Close to nature. All modern conveniences. Wonderful pool and pool area!
Had a garden view room, close to pool and restaurant. Good beds, good bath, good AC, and safe.
Impressive breakfast! Lots of families, couples, small groups. Kid-friendly. Could be romantic too:)
Hotel's panga (zodiac) to get to Puerto Ayora, just give the guy a call.
Would definitely go back another time.

We are just home after spending the last three days of our holiday at the Finch Bay Eco hotel. It was wonderful and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were glad to have a few days to relax and recover from all our early mornings on the cruise and this was a great place to do it. We could sit by the pool and have lunch with Mocking Birds and Finches looking for a share. The Great Blue Heron came for drink in the pool and the White-Cheeked Pintails seemed to like the pool too. They also spent a lot of time swimming in the little pond outside our room. If you didn't want to swim in the pool the sea was right beside the hotel and was also beautiful for swimming. The water taxi was only a short walk away and in a couple of minutes you were in the main town. We loved it and would stay again if we ever got the chance.

Room Tip: We had a garden view room which was excellent but there we also ocean view rooms which some people m...

Finch Bay hotel is located across the bay in the town of Puerto Ayora, on Santa Cruz Island. You actually have to take a taxi boat from the main pier to the dock where the road starts and leads to the hotel. The fact that it is a bit removed from the center of the town makes the area where the hotel is located less crowded than the areas where most other hotels in Puerto Ayora are located.

The hotel is very nice and comfortable. Our rooms were ample and so were the bathrooms. I am not sure it qualifies as a 5 star hotel, but it is definitely one of the best in the area. The pool is great and the overall layout is very nice. You do feel like you are in an equatorial beach town. You also have a nice area with a jacuzzi which is great to enjoy in the evenings and nights. You also have a private little beach where you can sunbathe or just relax in the company of a few sea lions.

Food and staff where very good when we stayed there.

Room Tip: Pick a room that is not too close to the bar where there is often noise at night.
