We visited the Galapagos and DRS in 2010 and went back this year. It is a wonderful place to wander and see the different plants, birds, and of course the very special tortoises that are being saved from extinction.

Very interesting. Lonesome George is gone, but there are many other things to explore.
Loved the yellow "iguanas", thig turtoise and the vegetation descriptions.

I expected more from this place, I have to say. It was OK but nothing exciting now that poor Lonesome George (or Solitario Jorge as he's know there!) is no more. You have to commend them for their successful breeding programme but the breeding centre on Isabela is better and there are wild giant tortoises all over the place in the highlands, and a trip to see them up there is by far the better option.

Dont expect a large research centre. But dont dismiss what you see.

There are breedin areas and juveniles. Watch for the small numbers ion the young turtles they do look alike ad they track individuals.

Well though out displays. Some food avaiable and a thriving gift shop.

A travel shirt with the Charles Darwin centre was a must for me

Not a far walk from the town centre.

Takes a few hours and explore the place.

This is more than just turtles.

This is a must to begin your adventure. Hear the story of the Tortoises and what Ecuador is doing to preserve the Galapagos for centuries to come. Walk back to the dock and watch the fishermen tend to their catch with an audience of Frigates, Pelicans and gulls.
