“Great conservation effort”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

It was very interesting to see what's being done to preserve and protect the different turtles here and see them in different stages of development. It's a good introduction before you are taken up to the wild turle habits in the mountains.

“Very informative”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

They do practice siesta, so don't expect anything to be open between 11-3, like the snack/drink store or museum store. The displays were very good and seeing a variety of animals was good. We did not see land iguanas except for here.

“Science on the islands”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

Large compound where much reseach is taking place to attempt to preserve the natural landscape of the Galapagos. Sadly, the gift shop was closed even though there were 3 workers inside and they were unwilling to let me browse and buy a souvenier.

“Not a lot going on”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

It's nice to see the tortoises there, though a car ride up into the highlands provides much more exhilarating glimpses of the giant tortoises in the wild, but otherwise there's not much to see or learn. There's very little in the way of informative or interactive exhibits. The grounds and facilities feel a little decrepit and worn down. It's worth visiting, but I wouldn't plan to spend much time here.

“Don't miss it”

Fascinating place to visit, with many interesting animals including a few different types of giant tortoises. Go with a guide who can explain the history including the story about Lonesome George.
