The only reason to visit the station are the giant turtles. The rest of the station looks a mess and you have to walk around a lot to find everything. But it is free.

Iguana and tortoise research and study center. A little unkempt in 2011 compared to 1998. Their focus is on preserving this incredible group of islands and their amazing flora and fauna.

The Charles Darwin Research Station was the first stop on our trip to the Galapagos. We got to see our first turtles and iguanas. We did not have a guide. I felt the Research Station should've had docents, guides or researches at each of the animal viewing areas. I would've liked someone there to explain the Station and their work.

The Charles Darwin Station is involved in research and planning--both making a positive difference for the islands. But there really isn't much to see there, especially now that Lonesome George has died.
