Galapagos Best Hostel

The Galapagos Best Home Stay is a very nice place. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is aircon and hot water, and the included kitchenette is quite useful. Kevin is very friendly and full of information. We opted-out of the free city tour but heard it was informative from other guests.

The only problem is that its quite far away from the center of town, about a 15-20 minute walk. It's near impossible to find by foot when you first arrive, so please do yourself a favor and take a taxi, it's only $1. You can get a $1 taxi the other way too, which would be the recommended way to get around. If you don't mind being a little out of the way, the rooms are very nice and comfortable and its on a quiet street.

Room Tip: There are only 3 now but more are being built.

My boyfriend and i stayed here for 2 nights. The hostel is extremely clean, nice comfortable rooms and has good kitchen facilities for cooking. The owner kevin is friendly and will go out of his way to ensure that you will have a good stay. When you arrive he will show you how to walk to the center which takes around 15 minutes and feels very safe - he will also show you where all the key places are. Would highly rate this place

Galapagos Best Home Stay is a great place for many reasons. First of all, the owners, Kevin and his wife are extremely kind and friendly. Kevin takes care of all his guests like they were unique and helps you all the time. Secondly, the hostel is very clean, tidy and all the staffs are new; each room, even dorms, are equipped with a refrigerator, gas burner, microwave, all the necessary things needed to cook and potable water. Also, single beds are wider than the regular ones and rooms have a lot of space.
They offer all that any turist wants: a great place, fully equipped, value for money, and a friendly atmosphere.
Fantastic host and place!!! Kevin thanks for everything!!!

We have stayed in all the top rated places and are very picky about everything! Kevin is in a league of his own, great rooms and facilities, and his personal tour of the town is amazing, over and above what you would expect. If you are coming to Galapagos, stay here.

We planned to stay 3 days and ended up being there 8 or 9 spread over 3 visits. It is cleaned daily, There is fridge, microwave, stove, internet, drinking water, air conditioning, storage lockers. It is in a real neighborhood away from the main tourist area and is a 15 minute walk from the fish market at Pelican Bay. It is easy to find if you follow these directions: From the Pelican Bay fish market walk a couple blocks in the direction of the Charles Darwin Research Centre. Turn left at the last street and go a couple blocks. Turn right at the basketball court and go 2 blocks. Turn left and walk several blocks until you notice a metal roofed repair shop. "La Mecanica--El Gran Escape." Go one more block and turn right. This is a quiet place and we found it a nice home away from home. Kevin gave us lots of good local info and put us in touch with an agency that provided us with good information and value.

We had a wonderful time during our 4 night stay at Kevin and Annamaria's place.

We jumped into a taxi from the port and were quickly transported in 5 min to the Galapagos best home stay location for only $1 (all taxi rides within the town are $1).

Eventhough we arrived very early Kevin made sure our room was available promptly.

The room was big and very very clean. A small kitchenette and ensuite bathroom provide you with everything you need for a relaxing and money saving stay.

We were on the 3rd floor and in the evenings it was lovely to see the sunset over the town skyline.

We enjoyed Kevins recommendations on tourist attractions and must see places in and around the island, we really loved the walk to tortuga bay and swimming at Las Greitas and of course the giant tortoise reserve.

It was great to visit the fishmarket on a daily basis and buy 1KG of fresh tuna for under $5! having your own little kitchen to prepare your own meals was great for us saving money (we are currently on a 18 month world trip) So eventhough you may find cheaper accomodation the money you can save here saves you more.

Kevins tour and introduction to the island provides a good orientation of the town for you to begin your island adventure. Make sure you ask him how he met Annamaria! its a lovely story x

If you dont mind being at the back end of the town and only a $1 taxi ride away this is a great place to stay.
