“Great food and great people!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

This is a great place to have dinner in Puerto Ayora. The menu is varied. I had the surf and turf hamburger and my husband had an Asian salad. My brother-in-law had the tuna with sesame seeds and soy sauce. They were all delicious! The hamburger was huge and was really nicely prepared (on a hot lava stone). The tuna was beautifully cooked (not overcooked!) and the salad was really nice. They made us crepes for desert, very yummy. The service was not super fast but good and very friendly.

“Excellent pub grub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

We ate here last night and the food was excellent. My wife had the veggie burger - a real treat in the Galapagos - and carrot soup to start, which was enhanced by the thin fries on top of it - nice touch. I had some sort of cheesy potato fried bally things to start which were good and filling, followed by Tuna steak cooked on the hot lava rock.

A few things seem like gimmicks, the lava rock, one of the only pool tables on the island, the half inside half outside place, but its part of the vibe of the place, and it doesn't detratct from the food, which was excellent. The first place I've found on the island that doesn't sell the Reservado Chilean wine, but its replacement was very good too...

“Great food and good atmosphere”

Great choice of seafood , sometimes prepared in an unusual way but always tasting delicious. Lady owner certainly knows how to treat guests. Definitely a place for at least one nice dinner. We had three.

“Good for a night out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

This bar / restaurant has a nice, laid-back atmosphere with undercover seating and is located on the main street along the waterfront in Puerto Ayora. In terms of price and menu it is geared more towards the international tourist market, with a sushi selection, various burgers, grills and salads and a few Ecuadorian specialities such as locro de papas (a rich cheese and potato soup; the version offered here is very tasty) and patacones with cheese. We visited as a group of about half a dozen with a sushi craving one evening; a few happy hour drinks got us pleasantly started, and then we shared one of the mixed sushi selections with a combination of different rolls, some nigiri and some sashimi. While the sushi isn't top-class Tsukiji-Market quality, that's hardly to be expected; it was fresh-tasting and well-executed and hit just the right spot. We were a little disappointed that there weren't more local varieties of seafood included, but no doubt the vagaries of the industry make this difficult...

After sharing the selection for four between five of us, with an extra serving of sashimi (there were some slight communication difficulties over what we'd actually ordered, salmon or tuna, but after querying it with our waitress a couple of times, the manager came over and sorted it out) and a soup, some of the group were still hungry, so a burger (sizzling and with a nice degree of char on a hot lava rock, accompanied by excellent wedges) and patacones were duly ordered. We left feeling quite satisfied and with not too extravagant a bill. All in all a nice night out!

“Lava burgers and great soup, but awkward service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

The service here was poor. The waitress got the order wrong 3 times, despite most of our group speaking very good Spanish.
Still, the food was quite appealing-- yummy sushi, veggie burgers served on heated lava rocks, and a thick traditional Ecuadorian potato cheese soup that was outstanding.
