Our group from Singles in Paradise stayed here as part of our 5-day tour of the Galapagos. We were supposed to stay in their standard rooms but many of us got upgraded to suites and OMG they were so sweet! Amazing views and huge! They looked brand new. Had a great, huge balcony with sweeping views of the bay. There was even a 2 person jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. I really did love this room and the rest of the hotel is first rate as well. You will arrive and depart by water taxi as there are no roads to the hotel. It is also a 10-minute walk to German beach which is a popular attraction.

The breakfast was good and plentiful. Wifi was fast and reliable. In room Wifi as well as anywhere on the property.

We also had dinner there one night and it was gourmet. I had the aged steak and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly!

This was one of my favorite hotels and rooms of all time and I am a well-seasoned traveler.

Room tip: See if you can get an upgrade to one of their suites. We had the Southern Cross room!

Stayed here at the end of our honeymoon, we stayed in the 'Boobie' room which had a wonderful balcony-view of the harbour. The hotel is only accessible via water taxi from the main harbour. It is cheap (only $1 per person each way) and easy however.

Staff were friendly, restaurant/bar was great with amazing views of the water (which is lit up - we saw sea lions, rays, turtles and sharks whilst eating dinner in the evening!). Food and drink is a little overpriced but what you would expect given the setting.

Room was great except the bathroom - the power shower is past it's best & didn't work properly, whilst the window opposite the shower was without a blind/curtain and in full view of the kitchens! We had to cover the window with a towel every time we used the bathroom.

On Santa Cruz we stayed at the Angermeyer hotel, the service and culinary highpoint of the tour. The owner, Dr. Angermeyer, runs a tight ship. On arrival he noted my wife’s distressed condition from the boat ride from Isabella and hastened the preparation of a room for her at 10AM. The service was excellent – no detail was too small. The staff are friendly, well-trained, attentive to detail, and unobtrusive. A well run hotel. The food was also a cut above either of the 2 previous hotels (Surfside on San Cristobal and Iguana Crossing on Isabella). On the last night we had lobster (langosta), a true delicacy and well prepared. Our other meals were prepared with attention to detail and were excellent. Our room was a bit on the small side (others in our party had large rooms)) and adequate. The location of the Angermeyer hotel at the entrance to the harbor necessitated we take a water taxi to town, hardly an inconvenience. My wife and I took a walking tour to “German” beach, a short distance from the hotel. It is a delightful white sand beach gradually sloping into the water and shared with a number of ocean creatures. While we were there a sea turtle swam by a party about 40 feet from us. We also walked to a long trench (Las Grietas) created by a split in the lava that is brackish, partially salt water- partially fresh. The water was clear and perfect for snorkeling. We could see a ray at the bottom, but did not have snorkeling gear. It was a popular destination for jumping from the rocks on either side of the slit. Our overall impression of the Angermeyer Hotel was very positive.

Room tip: We were in Gecko - a bit small. There were some very nice rooms adjacent. Wifi adequate only in breakfast area.

What an unexpected pleasure! Our room had a private balcony, windows on 3 sides, and a wonderful view of the bay. Meals at the waterfront restaurant were superb. The water taxi into the center of town is not a bother at all, in fact, it's rather quaint.

This waterfront hotel is a great spot for hanging out after a boat trip to the islands and bays. I was here after a week on a very comfortable cruise and it was a fabulous place to unwind. There was a lot of history attached to the place as the Angermeyers family has been such an integral part of developing Puerto Ayora. Also, the bar is one of the most amazing spots for watching the boast coming and going.
