“Great mist”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

Took a taxi ($20) from town. The last part was on foot. Very muddy. Lake was misted over but could see the outline of the crater lake. Nice.

“Check the weather before going or you wont see anything!”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

My girlfriend and I visited Laguna El Junco during our stay on San Cristobal, we done the tour through the hostel we stayed at, Casa Mabel, the tour was not with an operator but with a taxi driver, we had no problem doing this, it was $25 per person, we had been quoted $35 per person elsewhere, this day out also included a visit to Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado and Puerto Chino beach

Laguna El Junco is the 1st stop on the way to Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado and Puerto Chino, when we went past the area where Laguna El Junco is it was raining and very cloudy, our taxi driver said better to stop on the way back

Unfortunately on the way back the weather had not cleared up, we decided to go for a walk up anyway, the walk up to the Lagoon is about 10 minutes, when we got to the top you literally couldn’t see 10 metres in front of you, the views are supposed to very nice as well

Just a shame we went that day but that’s life!

I would recommend doing the tour to Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado, Puerto Chino and Laguna El Junco, I hope people get better luck with the weather!

“Watch the frigate birds clean their feathers”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

This lake is really nothing special except it is the only body of water that is not salty on the islands, it supplies water to the inhabitants of Baquerizo Moreno and is a place to watch strange dance of the frigatebirds.

The birds are trying to wash off the salt from their feathers by plunging to the water and quickly getting out, then shaking the whole body to distribute the water and wash off the salt. Quite a fest for the eyes, especially when there is a whole flock of them.

Otherwise there is a trail circumnavigating the small lake, if you feel like stretching your legs.

“Beautiful landscape”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

The view from this place is great , the combination of vegetation with the lagoon and also the ocean live you speechless. I do not recommend this with young children and once you climb up there beside the amazing sighseeing there isn't any other activity than watching the birds and walking. Photos look great there

“Lots of frigates”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

It is a relaxing place with plenty of frigates around diving in to the water. No other animals and not much interest for me i'm afraid. Cloudy and quite cold while we were there.
