This vaunted resort and fine dining restaurant has been a favorite of Cotacachi locals to celebrate special occasions for a number of years. I was absolutely astonished during my last visit to experience my first BAD experience.
The cold appetizers and salads were delicious as they normally are, as well as the dessert. However, the main course was a complete and utter disaster. My friend and I ordered the Asian duck. Well, this serving of protein had never quacked or had donned feathers. The kitchen was, obviously, sans duck and the “chef” foolishly and fraudulently substituted the duck with dried, tough, tiny, extremely unpleasant chunks beef. If the “chef had any culinary background and training he should have declined the order and ask us to select another entrée; he did not. If he (the “chef”) had any sense or culinary skills he could have substituted chicken in its place and we probably would not have known the difference due to the Asian spices.
The question is: Why would a “chef” jeopardize the resort’s excellent reputation with such a foolish, ridiculous and underhanded maneuver?
