“best tourist market in dili”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

this is the market every visitor should go. be careful what you buy though as some of the tais look imported from indonesia.

the wooden items are only average. timor needs an art gallery that sells decent pieces

“whatever you pay - it's a bargain”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

there are lots of stalls here - with a fairly consistent range of prices but it pays to explore all the goods as some are synthetic and you can find a difference on weaving skill and art. some bargaining is expected.

“The most beautiful craft”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

I cannot stay away from the place :-) This is my 3rd trip to Timor-Leste and I have more and more friends who would put in an order for a tais. The Dili Tais Market is a 'one stop shop' . The area s so small with approx 20 stalls all competing for your business. You may be blessed to see a girl or woman sitting on the ground making one with their loom. So much work for such an amazing creation. I have Tais scarves, lounge rugs, scatter cushions and framed pieces. I totally recommend a visit :)

“Great little market”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Had a lot of fun browsing the Tais here. Some of them make them on site, so make sure you ask to see the loom. The bargaining is more difficult here than in other markets, but you can usually get a good price.

“Awesome Market”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Awesome little market. We had to travel through a pretty shady street to get there, but was well worth it. The Tais are hand made clothes and are extremely beautiful. You can barter with them for a lower price or combined price. I bought a wonderful wrap for my wife for only 12 USD. Amazing piece. Well worth going.
