As other reviewers have noted, a very well laid out, modern, air conditioned museum with just a $1 entry fee. This poor country has suffered so much at the hands of pretty much every country that has had anything to do with them over the centuries and now they are having to pretty much start from scratch. It makes me embarrassed to realise just how badly Australia has acted, and continues to do with regards to the oil fields and the Timor Gap negotiations.
My only gripe was that I wanted to sit down for a while, but very few chairs in the place !

Well laid out, with a great deal information in several languages. There are videos of guerrillas in action. But the video of the massacre at the Santa Cruz cemetery which was a turning point in the conflict graphically shows man's inhumanity to man. It is a museum that deserves some time to view the exhibits and displays.

A great door to understand the attrocities that timorese went through until become the newest nation of the world.

Some of the images are very graphic, but I wouldn't have skipped this stop for the world. Cheap, informative, and inspiring, it really makes you appreciate what the Timorese have been through.

A brilliant and informative display of the last 35 years of East Timor's tragic but stoic past. The museum is a top quality one - it is comparable to the Melbourne museum in its effective presentation.
