“Feel good!”
Reviewed April 29, 2012

We spent very nice weekend during carnival. Hotel is centrally positioned, rooms are nice and clean, bathroom is modern, clean and comfortable. We had excellent food both for breakfast and dinner (great pasta!). Since Opatija has serious problems with parking, it is good to know that hotel Bristol has it´s own parking. We took an opportunity of "special offer" so we really got a great value for money!

this is the 3rd hotel i tried in abbazia/opatija and certainly my best experience. it's not directly on the sea as the kvarner, not facing the sea as the palace-bellevue, it's located instead a little uphill across the main street and the wonderful angiolina park, with some sea view from the rooms. some noise coming from the street despite the double windows especially because of the street cleaners machine early at 06.00/06:30 AM but this is certainly noty the hotel's fault. check-in very friendly and efficient, staff spoke reasonably good to perfect italian, 2 lifts, modernly refurbished halls, corridors and rooms, nicely decorated throughout. despite booking a single i got a partially sea-facing double one. large bathroom with tub and all amenities. safe, tv and everything else provided and perfectly working. excellent breakfast with huge and high quality buffet, plus a fascinating russian-style samovar where to get hot water for tea. very efficient and friendly waiters/waitresses. reasonably good buffet dinners for less than 100 kn. slightly geared more towards group fare. great revamped art nouveau decoration and architecture outside and inside (hotel built in 1906), it looks like to be a little in vienna or budapest! tried the excellent facilities of the spa, good and not too expensive massage, good steam room and a large jacuzzi where to relax after a day long sightseeing. extremely large L-shaped viennese style café at the ground floor facing the main street with a sidewalk terrace: here you find the largest selection of viennese style coffes in abbazia/opatija plus good cakes and sandwiches: excellent service at evening/night, slightly more erratic during lunch-time (one staff was not enough when i was there, and sometimes she was just missing). a very beautiful although not huge hotel with excellent service, historical ambiance and very good location, just across the street from a glorious park and 3 minutes walk throuh it to the sea-facing walking promenade. most warmly recommended

We stayed in this hotel at the start of a Gate 1 tour. The location was great, but that's about it!

The room was very small, and the beds were not very comfortable. However, the bathroom was good, and we had a decent view from the window.

A buffet dinner was included on the first night, but the food was extremely disappointing. Breakfast was OK.

We had a terrific meal at Roko's the next night - a great, reasonably priced Italian restaurant with friendly staff just a few hundred metres from the hotel.

I wouldn't choose to stay at the Bristol.

My partner and I visited in December for a winter break, because I love the city of Opatija. This is a gorgeous, historic hotel. If you visit the local museum, you can see old postcards of the hotel from the turn of the 19th into the 20th century. This hotel, like many of the hotels in the area, is elegant and grand. It was also among the only options in town during the off-season.

We stayed in a suite which was attractive and spacious, although our view was of a local gymnasium and sometimes during the day there was a lot of noise coming from that direction. Also, the tv could have been better considering it was a suite, it was very small. I remember being happy with the hotel breakfast which was in a very attractive dining room. We also tried the spa and the gym. The hotel does not have a pool but the hot tub was not really a proper jacuzzi, it was more like a small, warm swimming pool. You could not really swim in it, but it was relaxing. I also liked the sauna and shower facilities although some of the male guests developed a system of monopolizing the sauna and were not really willing to share with a woman. That's not the hotel's fault.

One of my favorite memories of the hotel was the evening entertainment, particularly on Saturday in the cafe/bar. It was a beautifully arranged space and the jazz performance of local musicians gave it just the right ambience. The drinks and light snacks were delicious. We enjoyed having evening coffee there so much that we made a point of going each evening.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It's a shame that it does not have a real pool, but it is a great choice if you don't mind that. It's also a great off-season option.

This was an older hotel but charming. Certainly reminded me of the older European hotels which were popular during the fifties & sixties. The rooms were fine but nothing special. The location is very good with walking distance to many bars & restaurants. Our room overlooked the old Opera house with a partial sea view. The breakfast was OK but nothing special. Very noisy on Saturday night but we had earplugs.

It is a solid hotel, nicely decorated. The location was great, Lungo Mare is near, just at the start of Opatija.

The TV looked very old, and a solid choice of channels. Breakfast was solid, good choice of salami, and hot meals. But the orange juice was awful!

The parking was really bad, my car almost did not fit at the hotel parking spot, and when I finally parked in, I had to enter through the passanger side of the car.
But Opatija is a city that has a big problem with parking space, so it is very good that the hotel secured a parking spot.

I had a nice sea view from the room!

I was not satisfed only with the price, it was a little too much for what it offered.

Room Tip: The bar at the hotel has great cake. Try the Bristol cake.
