“Tiny room for a "five star"”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

First, the hotel proclaims itself as a 5 star, but it is definety not. The double bed in my room occupied almost the entire space, so it was difficult to move inside. Furthermore, the entrance for the room was weird, I received two different keys (no card, they were real keys) as there were two doors to give access, the first one common to another room. On the other side, the hotel has an excellent location, right on the main street in front of the sea, and the room, although not in the front of the building, had a wonderful view.

I stayed here 3 nights and all I can say it is a solid 3+ star hotel. Dinner don't have many options also the food is so dry, the breakfast is little better but also not a 5 star range. We stay at the Kvarner hotel in Opatija before this one. Kvarner is a 3 star hotel but the food and the service is on much higher level.
Spa zone is not so spa, the people are doing everything they want there, people are walking naked, touching and else not good at all... they don't have no one to be there and to get any rules for spa facility.
The room is not so good either, we get the room with broken aircon, the bathroom is dirty. They give us a another one that was little better, the noise of that one is terrible. The other bathroom is on our bedroom.
They need to work hard to get the this 5 star range.

Room Tip: Try to get the rooms that are on the first two floors.

Small boutique hotel, in 2010 winner for best small hotel in Croatia. The rooms are big, clean, with nice balconies. Free wi-fi and free parking in the street to the hotel. I stayed in hotel in off season and because of the small number of guests, the hotel was in a slight "hibernation." Breakfast is good (buffet) and dinner is only one menu with a choice of one meat or fish dishes. It Could be better. The staff is friendly. Prices of drinks in the mini bar are identical like prices on appertif bar. Very commendable. Pets are welcome.
Minus; TV is too small, too small warderobe closet in the room, poor wellness. The fifth star is very debatable.

I already wrote a review for this hotel ("A promising future"), saying that my parents were not pleased at all with their stay, but that the manager of the hotel has invited them to come back free of charge and give it another try.
So that is what they did last weekend and it was amazing!
Most of the staff has changed (new manager, new cook, new masseuze) and the difference is unbelievable. First of all, the cook is more than great and the romantic dinner was great. Candles, rose pedals in the shape of a heart, delicious food and wine, romantic atmosphere, even a visit by the cook and manager both at the table, checking if everything was in order..perfect. They had dinner there two evenings in a row and were more than satisfied.
The spa area is improved also by a new masseuze, who was very skilled, nice and professional. My parents said they regret now that they only took one treatment :)
The hotel was very clean and styled up-to-date. So, everything they complained about the last time around was now in order.
They had a great time and recommend this place and its staff highly. Well done, hotel Mozart, keep up the great work!!

For a one-night stopover on the way home from holiday the Mozart turned out to be a great choice. It's easy to find, right on the seafront, and has car parking close by. The place is reminiscent of the old hotels you expect to find on the French Riviera and Monte Carlo; a real treat for anyone who associates hotels with Sheraton and business travel. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful, though those qualities were less evident among the restaurant waitresses.
An unexpected and free upgrade meant a second floor room facing the sea, complete with large balcony. It also meant a bathroom containing a bath, which was the first we had seen for more than a fortnight and made for many a happy hour.
Breakfast was a bit of a let-down with a limited choice of cold meat and cheese and reconstituted orange cordial from a dispenser.
The Mozart (and Opatija) would not be obvious choice for anyone looking for a quiet holiday but it provides a pleasant and traditional base in a bustling holiday centre.

I've been at this hotel again in the last week of august. I was a little bit sad because they changed many things but not necessarily in a good way. In the morning they didn't give us red roses like they used to do, they food wasn't always warm even if they just brought it from the kitchen. The flowers on the balcony were almost dead. I've been here for my mother's birthday like my previous visit but this time she didn't received anything from the hotel. In the last years they always gave her a massage or something, but this year not even a "Happy birthday" and let's be honest, we've been there for many birthdays :)

Room Tip: Rooms on the front or on the right side of the hotel.

Stayed here in lovely old hotel with modern updates. Great setting and we had a tiny view of the sea. Reception staff were a bit stiff but loosened up during our stay. Nice terrace with a good breakfast. Quiet hotel in late August. Very few Americans around the area. Lovely town to explore. One minus had to call reception to have the maid clean the door mirror and patio. They were very dirty and obviously hadn't been cleaned in awhile. The dirty mirror and patio definitely lowered our rating of the hotel.
