“Hotel Kvarner?”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We made a reservation for Kvarner Hotel via booking.com. When we arrive there we were informed that actually we had made a reservation for Villa Amalia (same owner Liburnia Riviera Hotels). On the reservation letter it was mentioned as a building next to the main hotel building where meals are served and not that it is a totally another extremely old and dirty hotel. Also because there were organised wedding ceremonies on the main building for breakfast and meals we had to move to another hotel situated 150m away (imperial hotel-same owner). Also the parking was in this hotel 200m from Villa Amalia. Moving all day with two babies is not a very nice experience. On the first night I find out that the extra bed we had order was completly ruined, dirty and it was like sleeping in rocks. Next morning i ask for a change but when i return in the evening nothing had changed. They could not do anythink and they just apologised telling me yes we know the problem but unfortunetly they cannot offer any solution. So another day sleeping on "rocks". So if you know the problem why you offer me this disgusting bed? In my opinion they use photos from the main building (which is nice) in order to find unlucky customers for their terrible Villa Amalia which is old , dirty , completly ruined and smells terrible. The worst thing was that they cannot even find a bed for me even thought they knew from the begiνning the problem

Room Tip: Their attitude force me to advise travellers to avoid also main building where meals WERE not served...

weekend in Opatija in Kvarner hotel, the hotel is the oldest and one of the most impressive hotels in the immediate vicinity of the sea, with the most beautiful terrace, a touch of the monarchy and modern, rooms tidy and clean, the staff very polite and friendly, the restaurant offers a very good and tasty live music, location in the city center, highly recommend

We have the possibility to stay only one night in this Great Historical Hotel. The location and view are wonderful. Room need some renovation as well as hotel itself, but in general is very clean.
Would rather recommend for short term stay. Very good breakfast. Parking available.

Room Tip: Ask for room with sea view!

This was our traditional annual holidays in Croatia and my friends and I stayed in villa Amalia in July 2012 for two weeks.
Now I have a great pleasure to say that this was the right choise.
Hotel Kvarner and villa Amalia situate in very attractive place in Opatija many times visited by famous and noble people, you have a chance to feel this in the every step. Super location, nice parks and clean sea, attractive cultural events, great music and all necessary facilities are for your services.
The service and hospitality in the hotel are in top level, various and tasty domestic and international cuisine are offered daily in the restaurant, professional staff insure the care and cleanness anywhere. I agree that there are better hotels worldwide but comparing money you pay for offered service I can say that Kvarner & Amalia are the top level 3 star hotel with great service for reasonable price. My friends and I have already reserved Kvarner & Amalia for summer holidays in 2013. I highly recommend this hotel for pleasant holidays in Opatija.
Best regards for hotel staff from Lithuania.

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view are great

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, the rooms were so old and bathroom small and dirty. But the hotel has great staff and the hotel looks nice form the outside. My view is shared by the group I was also travelling with. There is no minibar in the room and no room service. You can't even purchase water when the bar is closed.

I rated it as very good just because very worn out rooms which they are going to renovate very soon, according to receptionist. The hotel as a building is gorgeous with its great lobby, huge ceilings and one of the most beautiful terraces ever! The breakfast, very good one, is served at the terrace, of course! I just didn't feel like leaving this place and its terrace with the pool, it is magical. Villa Amalia and the house/museum in the vicinity with its beautiful garden very worth the visit! Free wifi in the lobby! Great location and good service! This was a great value for money despite worn out rooms which were very clean.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with sea view, our back room was noisy.

The pictures does not describe this hotel right. It is old from the inside, furniture is falling apart in the room . The doors cant close and the sound from the outside is coming inside. This is not the place for sleep . The food is great but not worth the price for stay .

In reception the people are willing to help but this is something that cant be fixed from there.

If you like to stay in oldest hotel build in Croatian coast this hotel is right place but if you like to have relaxing weekend don't stay here .

The view is just great.

Room Tip: Dont take the seaside because of sound from the outside, I know that the view is great but ...
