Lungomare (part of the Savoy Hotel) is situated next to the main Opatija beach - Slatina. Great views of the Kvarner bay and Rijeka.
Staff friendly, all speak good English. Menu offers lots of dishes and some local specialities. We had seabass with chard and potato mixed with olive oil and "Raznjici" - which is some sort of beef kebab. Seabass was fresh but they serve it as a whole fish so be prepared to pick the bones yourself. Just plain grilled served with olive oil, parsley and garlic dressing. Chard with potato is a local seaside dish, usually mixed with fried onion or garlic and drizzled with olive oil. Kebab was rather tough and bland, my partner didn't like it. Fries were OK. The whole dish was like a takeaway, very disappointing. Most of the meat dishes are often served with a red sauce called Ajvar. It is made of red peppers, tomatoes and aubergines. Totally delicious!!! We also had a portion of grilled vegetables as a side dish to share.
Great atmosphere, and excellent to relax and enjoy the views. Food OK but nothing special to remember. Prices average for the area. Mains: 45-120Kn. Excellent local light beers/lagers Ozujsko and Karlovacko.
