“A clean and functional hotel in Abidjan”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

Summary:
I've spent about 2-3 weeks here over the past four months. It is a comfortable hotel, especially in comparison to those available in the area.

The Good:
Plenty of hot water
Free English movies
Great cocktail bar

The Bad:
Breakfast is very ordinary
Wireless access is not effective for mobile devices (iPhone etc...)

Tips:
TV Media system often plays up, at the back of the TV there is a box attached to the screen, remove the small power cable for 5 seconds, and plug it in again. Wait for 2 minutes and the media system will be fixed. Make sure your TV is set to HDMI1 or HDMI2

Room Tip: Choose something on the Pool Side to watch the bats of Abidjan at dusk

It has been a few years since my last visit to Abidjan so I wasn't sure what to expect. Room was ok but small. Lots of free movies on the TV. The TV is supposed to be one of those interactive types, but when I was there most of the functions, like seeing your room bill, weren't working. There were no instructions in the room for how to access the internet. When I called the front desk to ask for the password I was rudely told that I could find it on the TV, as if that's the way it works in all hotels. I asked him specifically where on the TV menu I could find the password, but he couldn't tell me. I figured it out on my own and found that the wireless connection was pretty good. Service was hit or miss. Some of the restaurant staff and guards were polite and friendly. When I called the front desk on my first night to ask for an extra towel, the guy told me it was not possible. That's not the kind of customer service that you expect at a supposed five star hotel. The breakfast buffet is outrageously expensive for what you get. You can order off the menu for breakfast but service is a little slow. And, for whatever reason, they don't bring you the bill. You have to go stand in line at the cash register to pay. Again, not what you would expect at a hotel like this.

While not the best hotel I've ever stayed at, it's not bad, especially for West Africa.

West Africa Canberra a tough place but this hotel is a bit of a sanctuary. Good food, friendly staff and good security.
The bar upstairs is great with cheap drinks and great local band.

Is it a French requirement to build all hotels with small rooms? Even on such a large continent with lots of space? And considering that this part of the city becomes deserted after close of business each day and on the weekends. The small rooms make you feel isolated.

The food in this hotel is its saving French grace. This is a good hotel for business men and women of other business and the swimming pool is nice. Rooms are clean as indicated in the other reviews, but it's a function of the very basic design of this hotel. It reminded me of a northern Eueropean or Scandinavian hotel - IKEA style furniture, small and sparsely designed room, and very small. Internet wifi is available in the hotel albeit a bit spotty in some places. My room was at the end of the corridor and I had to sit in the hallway or access the internet in the restaurant.

Room Tip: If internet access is important, be sure to request a room close to the elevators. The further away...

I had a comfortable stay during my visit to Abidjan. Rooms are clean. I recommend for business travel. They have a good restaurant managed by French chef. They serve good Ivorian food and do not hesitate to try out.

This hotel has managed to stay up-to-date despite the political unrest in that nation. I found the conditions favorable. My room had a comfortable bed, free wireless Internet access, the basic room amenities and an adequate selection of TV news channels. I ordered room service and the meal was of ample portions and very tasty. The breakfast buffet has a varied menu, really good pastries, fresh fruit juices and courteous staff.

everything about the hotel is outdated. the lobby is cramped and done up in very poor taste. rooms are small and uncomfortable. connecting to the wi fi is a pain. the only saving grace is the breakfast which is good.
