Had a room in the Havana Tower on a midweek special ($51). The room was decent and clean with a king bed with way too fluffy pillows, wifi, tv and a nice view of both the ocean and the city. The bathroom could have used an upgrade and some water pressure and the carpeting had seen better days, but for the price, it was fine. An easy walk to the casino and several restaurants.

This was not our first time at the Trop in AC. We had stayed there several years ago and it was a nice stay. This trip was extremely disappointing. Our room was comped so we did not expect the best room. It was old and needed updating, but it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. My issue and reason for the poor rating is the employees! There were only 2 who actually made us feel welcome, the housekeeping lady and our server at the Fiesta Buffet! Check- in was robotic. No smile, "Welcome to the Trop", "Enjoy your stay", nada! Proceeded to the Bell/Valet counter to give them room number and luggage ticket (as instructed). Girl sitting there with headset on said she could not take ticket and we must call from the room! Huh? So, we did and guess who answered? Yup, same girl we had just talked to 3 minutes earlier. Had occasion to go by Trop Advantage desk on 2 separate occasions. They acted like they did not want to be bothered. Finally, had issue with a slot machine, the attendant who came seemed annoyed from the get-go. He had an attitude and bordered on rude. One has to ask if they really want our business! A pleasant demeanor and a smile can go a long way. There are plenty of other choices in AC.

Room Tip: South Tower had easier access to casino floor.

We reserved a couple of rooms for a night in between conferences in NYC. After trying to charge us more than we reserved the rooms for, the manager was able to adjust the price accordingly, the check in person we dealt with was not well trained. The rooms are a bit dated, but they were clean and comfortable. The choice of restaurants in the hotel was excellent and we ate all of our meals there while we were in Atlantic City. The adjacent boardwalk was pleasant during the day.

This hotel has two towers which appears to have two separate check-in locations which I assume could cause confusion. The check-in desk for our tower had space for only three employees and as you could imagine, there was a long line. I was told that the Tropicana had gone under some renovation not too long ago but they must’ve forgotten about the front check-in desk.

A smaller color TV from a prior generation was the first thing that struck me upon entering the room. The beds were actually quite good and the view from the higher floor commanded a nice expansive view of the beach.

There are decent eating and shopping options in a promenade on the casino floor. All throughout the staff was very friendly and service was attentive.

However, I would probably try a different hotel the next time I’m in Atlantic City.

Room Tip: Ensure you know which tower you need to check-in before you get to the hotel.
