“Exceeded our expectations-perfection!!”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

My husband and I were visiting AC for a concert. Prior to departure, I had asked tripadvisor.com members for restaurant recommendations and I must say they steered us in the right direction.
We had no problem finding the restaurant as it is on a main street, Atlantic Avenue, in Atlantic City, just north of the Tanger Outlet Shopping area. We located a small parking lot on the opposite side of the hospital ER parking area for a $5 fee, just a short walk across the street to Los Amigos.
We arrived just before 5pm, entering through the front door which led us to the bar area. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table. There were a few patrons at the bar and we were the only persons in the dining area until another couple showed up about half way through our meal. Our server, Augustin, was what every waiter/waitress should be. He was courteous, attentive and very good at explaining items on the menu. We had browsed the online menu earlier in the week, so we knew what we wanted. Our waiter, along with the kitchen staff, provided a great dining experience by perfectly timing the arrival of our appetizers, entrees and desserts. We never felt rushed and were given just the right amount of time to savor every bite before the next round of food appeared. Each item we ordered was beautifully presented and the taste was superb. My husband said it was like gourmet Mexican food.
We started with an order of the Tabasco Tequila Shrimp and Southwest Crab Cakes. The jumbo shrimp were perfectly cooked, but they did have a very noticeable tequila taste. If tequila is not to your liking you may want to skip these. The crab cake, the size of a small orange, was out of this world delicious! The combo of the red chile tartar sauce and ingredients in the crab cake perfectly complimented each other. Each of these were served with a side of spring salad greens and tropical salsa. The tropical salsa was sweet, tart and a bit spicy…so good, I want the recipe. A complimentary round of chips and salsa were also brought to the table.
I ordered the Texarkana Burrito with grilled chicken. The huge burrito was filled with chicken that was moist with a great charbroiled flavor. The side of Mexican rice was moist, light and fluffy.
My husband ordered the gigantic Filet Serrano. This thick filet was cooked medium as requested with delicious flavors of chilies and spices. The garlic mashed potatoes were homemade, with a few lumps and a light garlic flavoring.
I am not sure why in the world we ordered desserts, as if the previous food choices did not completely stuff us, but we did. It’s hard to resist when you’re afraid you may miss out on something really good. I had the pumpkin bread pudding which was a huge, moist, thick slab of warm yumminess topped with whipped cream. My husband chose the sweet crepes filled with what he said was the best vanilla ice cream ever. The crepes were drizzled in some sort of berry and caramel sauce, just enough to add to the flavor.
Los Amigos certainly exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return if in the area again.

“The food was very good.”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

I stopped in on a Sat. night expecting the place to be busy. It was pretty empty but then again this is a very slow time of the year for A.C. "late Dec." Everything was very good from the service to the food. If you are in A.C. looking for Mexican food look no further.

“A Hidden Gem...”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

This is one of those places that you walk by and say “I am not eating there”, and end up going to Applebee’s instead. Don’t! Hidden among the glitz and glimmer of the mega retail and chain shops of the Walk, Los Amigos is a hidden gem.

While a little pricy, and the service is ok at best, the food is incredible if you are looking for some authentic Mexican fare. This is a typical “mom and pop” joint that has survived for years for good reason; the food.

The menu is large and pretty much offers something for everyone. The margaritas are tasty and the atmosphere inside is really cool and nothing what you would expect from the outside.
My favorite dish is the beef chimichanga loaded with cream cheese and avocado. However, pretty much anything you order is going to be good. Chips and salsa are included at every table, but not delivered until after you order.

So next time you are shopping at the Walk, take a stroll a block north on Atlantic Ave. and check out Los Amigos. You will be glad you did.

“Love this little place!”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

Don't be deceived by the outside of this restaurant. It's actualy a lot bigger inside than it looks. Stop in for some excellent Mexican food after a day at the Walk Tanger Outlet. I love the homemade chips and salsa.
