My Husband and I just returned from an overnighter in A/C. I scoured TA for restaurant reviews as this was our 28th Anniversary celebration. I wanted something special. As soon as I read the reviews on Knife & Fork and learned of its history, I knew this was the one! We are "Boardwalk Empire" fans and Hubby loves history so I knew he would enjoy it too. (I'm a "foodie", that's what drew me in) Well, from the moment we walked in we felt special. The restaurant is amazing! Great food, great service, beautiful, historical establishment. Can't say enough good things about the evening. We originally had 6:30 reservations but I called during the same day to move it to 6:30. No problem! We got there and were seated at a perfect table upstairs, a little corner booth. The 2 servers were wonderful, attentive and very pleasant. We were greeted immediately with, "Happy Anniversary". We ordered a cocktail and since we were in sensory overload, had difficulty making a decision. lol However, I already knew what I was ordering as I had already "studied" the menu. We never felt rushed and felt like Royalty, like we were the only ones there. The food was delivered at all the right times and delivered fresh and delicious. They brought a plate of fresh breads and we selected our choice. Hubby had cranberry walnut and I had multi grain. Both delicious. We placed our order, I had Avacado & Crab Terrine for my appetizer and Hubby ordered their special, Lobster Thermidor, Jersey Tomato & Mozzerella, and Crab & Corn Chowder. His soup was brought when they brought my appetizer. He doesn't even like corn but couldn't stop raving about the flavor of this soup. AMAZING! I can't stop thinking about my avocado/crab appetizer. Pictures attached. It must have had at least 1/2 lb of lump crab meat on top of avocado & it seriously would've been enough for my entrée. lol I STILL had my crab cake coming. Next was hubby's caprese salad. Amazing, fresh jersey tomatoes, creamy mozzarella with good olive oil and a wonderful balsamic reduction. Then the entrees arrived. I had crab cake. Probably a good pound of lump crabmeat held together with a little dijonaisse on top of a pear slaw and finished with a pepper sauce. Hubby had lobster thermidor (THE best lobster he's ever had) made with lobster, mushrooms, brandy, leeks and ??? It was great. Also with that he had a filet mignon, done to perfection. Like we really needed sides...........we ordered wilted spinach prepared with garlic and topped off with fresh parmesan. Also, we had goat cheese potato au gratin. Also delicious. We were so full but HAD to have dessert. We chose something a little lighter than chocolate (usually our choice), fresh berry napoleon. OMG Crispy phyllo layers with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and fresh whipped cream and raspberry sauce. DELISH..... coffee was great too. We just adored this restaurant and meal. The ambiance is special. Even the dinnerware was special. We spent almost 2.5 hours here and enjoyed this dining experience tremendously. Granted, it's not "cheap" but SO worth it. We each had a drink, appetizer, entrée, sides, dessert and coffee and our bill was $142... add tip and it was pretty close to $170. We would definately return!! If you have the chance, do not hesitate. It was one of two of my all time favorites EVER. Right up there with a meal we had a few years ago in Paris for my 50th birthday.
